CHAPTER 1-

For a girl like me, being unusual is difficult; I was born with a gift called "Real Sight," which allows me to see things that regular people cannot. Spirits, apparitions, elements, and mythical creatures, to name a few. As a result, I preferred to avoid social situations. Others who are solely concerned with themselves can never understand how to live in the dark, surrounded by these strange creatures.

After my father died, even my mother abandoned me. She cut me off from my only brother and placed me under the care of my grandmother.

At the very least, I can now say that I live in peace.

***

I was alone on the rooftop. No one ever wanted to be friends with me, as usual. I consider that ghosts are the only companions I have.

"Uwah, Kizuna Ai is adorable!" I murmured something to myself, and it wasn't long before the stream began to play on its own.

However, a random video appeared in the stream. "Huh?" Surprisingly, the stream changed.

When I tried to return to the previous video, it appeared that I no longer had permission to do so.

This strange video began playing on its own and began to say something weird.

"Hug me... hug me... hug me," says the speaker. As the stream progressed, the voice went deeper and lower, as if attempting to scare someone.

As I watched the video, I noticed the rude and harsh comments on it.

"Fame whore."

"If you want fame, why don't you do something fun with me? www."

"Bet that little thing down there is small as it is lololol."

"Lololol, what a worthless thing."

Because of the paper bag covering his face, I couldn't see the guy’s face in the Livestream, but he appeared to be in a state of panic. It looks that all of these insensitive remarks were having a negative impact on him.

"I'm going to jump off this building, and you're going to figure out how I'm going to become a legend!"

I realized that this guy is serious. He's playing on the railings, and I'm worried that he'll fall at any moment.

He was filming a video in which everyone can see that he will die if he misses a step.

I checked the comments area once more and saw that I wasn't the only one concerned about his activities.

"No! don't do it! Become a legend in another way!"

"No, don't jump!"

"Many people care for Kazuo."

I heard a sound from a piano playing in the Live stream a minute later. It sounds vague like 'Rudolf the rednosed reindeer,' but in a disturbing tone, and it keeps repeating itself in my mind.

I’m already having a headache just hearing it. He's frantically pressing every key! He was utterly messed up.

So I did everything I could to keep him from doing anything.

Leaving comments such as, "Kazuo, I understand how you're feeling right now, but could you please relax for a moment? Don't be like that!"

I couldn't help but wonder why I got so worked up over this. Why am I so concerned? Even if it weren't him, it would agitate me if someone else was in a similar situation.

‘I think this is my nature, huh?’

But the disrespectful remarks didn't appear to stop for even a second.

"Lol, boring, just jump already...!!!"

"You all talk."

"What the heck? Bet you can't do it."

'There are a lot of people who have the heart of a varmint!' I grumbled as I read the remarks.

"Wait, where is this stream being held?" I asked myself, "There should be a hint where his exact location is." To be sure, I inspected my screen for the exact location. After that, I stood up and ran faster than I'd ever gone in my entire life to stop him for his own sake.

Since it was now afternoon, I dashed outside the school, knowing that no one would question me if I missed class.

I had previously advised him to wait for me on the Livestream.

"Please don't take that path. You still have a bright future ahead of you." I had no trouble finding his location because it was close to my school.

"Although the location was an apartment hotel, where was the source of this strange sensation? The entire room seemed to be engulfed in a gloomy atmosphere." I took my first step onto the hotel grounds, but I held back when I heard his voice on the live broadcast.

"Human beings are foolish." My eyes widened as I refocused on the phone in my hand

The video became shaky as if the phone was being attached to his face because I could see from his line of sight.

He plunged off the building a split second later.

"No!" Surprisingly, I screamed.

"Ahhh!" In the stream, a sorrowful voice can be heard, as well as the booming sound of a body crashing to the ground.

I couldn't control my emotions, so I closed both of my eyes and tried to be calm. My breathing became tough all of a sudden. "You need to get your act together, Ellice."

"I'm standing exactly where he jumped. I think I'll dial 911." I tried to dial 911 after deciding to open my eyes again, but I flinched because I was confused about something.

There was no one around as I checked. A deafening quiet greeted me. There isn't a single person visible! There was no dead body, and what's worse, the entire place was eerily quiet!

I began walking around and exploring the entire area.

"Where is the body?" I grumbled as I returned my gaze to my phone, where the stream was still active. "Now you've truly become a legend," one person said, while another said, "Pathetic."

Even though he was already gone, the nasty comments continued to pour in!

I gave up because there wasn't a single person in sight. "What happened to him? Is it possible that I've ended up in the incorrect place? Or do dead bodies move?? Ugh! I'm not sure what I am talking about. I was certain that this was the right location!"

"And then there was this deafening silence..." From the ground floor, I gazed up at the hotel's top.

"What am I even doing here?" I murmured.

"Hey..." I spotted a boy coming down from the 13th story of the building. My entire body began to feel cold. "Should I have a look? It'll be fine if I take a quick look, right?" I said to myself in hushed tones.

Euri's lectures came back to me, "Don't bother looking at or even catching an eye on things that ordinary people can't see. You're not normal, so at the very least, act like one."

If I can see them, how could I possibly ignore them? The live stream right now is out of the ordinary; it piqued my interest, and I ended up here—Ellice, you're an idiot. Before you realize it, you've been caught up in another apparition.

In such a position, I turned back to him, attempting to flee. But by the time I did, the boy had already appeared in front of me! His appearance is that of a junior high school student, and I believe he is around 14 or 15 years old.

"Hey, can you see me?" the boy inquired. I tried to dodge him by looking in a different direction. My entire body was sweating, and I was nervous.

'I don't see you at all. Yes, I don't see anything because I lack that sort of power .' Those were the ideas that ran through my mind. I was attempting to persuade myself, which I knew would fail.

'I have to get out of here!' Should I go around him? I'm sure it'll be strange for me.'

"Tsk! Please don't ignore me!" The boy finally lost his patience and moved one of the neatly parked bicycles.

'He has the ability to move things!' What have you done, Ellice? This spirit is a bad one! That's not something a typical ghost can accomplish; I need to get out of here right now!' I thought.

"Ahh!" As soon as I saw the bike move, I screamed. I attempted to be as normal as possible. I dashed for the exit, passing him on my way out. I turned around as I approached the exit but unintentionally met his stare.

"I don't believe you can't see me." I heard his last words as a sorrowful and dismal whisper across the air.

I hate to say it, but that guy appears to be lonely.

***

Euri was there waiting for me when I arrived at my house. Euri is a ghost who is a friend of mine. She guards our home not only from humans but also from evil spirits that lurk nearby.

Euri's story is a little tragic; she was raped and murdered by a group of men, and her body was discarded in this place. I first saw her covered in blood and in such a filthy state when I came to this apartment hotel, but she transformed her appearance for me.

"Welcome back, Ellice!" She greeted me with a look of delight on her face. She seemed to be floating in mid-air as she followed me into my room.

My grandmother was nowhere to be found. She was the only one who’s constantly present. So it's a little strange for me.

"Where is Grandma, Ellice?" I inquired.

"Your grandmother's health has recently declined, and they have indicated that she will be admitted to the hospital for a few weeks until her health improves. Well, your mother brought her

there so you don’t have to worry." So my mother arrived, and she didn't even look at her daughter.

I couldn't stop myself from sulking.

"Aww, don't put on that expression. My baby, cheer up!"

I went to the kitchen to prepare something to appease my hunger. I should just ignore it, there’s no use in longing for my mother’s affection anyway. Let me just ask her about the spirit I had encountered.

"Euri, hm. Do you know about a guy who killed himself in a hotel unit near my school?"

"Every day, I hear some. People who have committed suicide... hmm? But it's not just one." Euri shrugged her shoulders.

'Well, she's correct. These days, a large number of people are committing suicide. Someday, I might as well.' I told myself bluntly.

That ghost was a little different because he knew I could see him despite my best efforts to act normally in such situations.

"Ellice, by the way. Are you coping well with the fact that you're disregarding other ghosts?" I nodded as I began to fry the egg, but I didn't bother to cook rice because there was still leftover rice in the rice cooker. After that, I placed the egg on the table with the rice.

"So far, yes. They have no idea I have that ability." That's what I'd wanted to believe, but I just looked a ghost in the eyes! If that spirit follows me here, what will Euri think?

"Wow, that's fantastic..." Nodding amusingly, "Although it is uncomfortable that you can see us, I am grateful that you can see me. I don't have to be alone; it's too lonely for a ghost-like me to be alone." she continued. While she was smiling at me, I could see her relief.

"Perhaps he was lonely as well." I thought to myself.

After that, I retired to my room to relax.

"These humans are foolish," the ghost stated, recalling what he said before jumping off. I'm sure he meant what he said.

"How did I get to watch that video in the first place, now that I think about it? It was also a live broadcast." It was giving me a headache just thinking about it. "Is it possible that the website has been hacked?"

"But, oh well. I still need to send some prints to my teacher’s house tomorrow. So I'd better get some rest." I wrapped my arms around my long pillow and called it a night.
