Chapter 2

Autor: Summer Sway
The bodyguards grabbed me, and I had no energy to fight them off.

I could only struggle and shout, “Let go! What are you doing? He’s not the heir of the Morgan family!”

Steven paused when I said that. He turned around and smirked at me. “Is this your attempt at begging? You should try harder, got it?”

He tapped his foot. “Get on your knees and kiss my feet. If you do that, I’ll consider letting you off.”

The woman in his arms spat and made a retching noise. She pursed her lips and turned to Steven. She said coquettishly, “I’m sorry, Mr. Morgan, I accidentally puked on you a bit…”

Steven looked at her and squeezed her behind. The look on his face was lascivious. “No worries. Cameron’s nothing but a dog at my feet. He’ll do whatever I ask!”

After Steven said that, the bodyguards shrewdly forced me to the ground. They ordered, “Hurry up! Make sure those shoes shine!”

When my head was shoved down, a sour stench assaulted me. Something sticky and stinky covered my face.

I held my breath and shouted, “Don’t go too far, Steven Anders!”

When he heard me call his full name, the surrounding spectators started to whisper amongst themselves. They said, “Shouldn’t his last name be Morgan?”

Steven’s expression darkened. He glared at the people who spoke up and explained impatiently, “Why would you believe what a driver says? You idiots!”

As he spoke, he took out a stack of cash, as if trying to prove that he was truly the heir of the Morgan family.

He flung the cash into the air and announced, “I’m the only heir of the Morgan family, and I can do anything I want here! If you spout nonsense again, I might just escalate this issue!”

The money fluttered to the ground, and everyone immediately got to their feet to grab as much as they could. As they did, they went along with Steven, saying, “That’s right. Oh, Mr. Morgan is so generous. How could he be a fake?

“Besides, he’s in a different luxury car every time he comes. I’ve checked. They all belong to the Morgan family!”

Steven looked at me in triumph. He stomped on my finger and ground down on it. “Do you see? No one here will believe your drivel!

“You’re jealous of me! You’re jealous that I was born into a rich family, while you’re the sort of person who will only ever be beneath me!”

He ground down even harder on my finger as he spoke, and I could feel that it was on the verge of breaking. It hurt so much that I was sweating bullets.

Seeing that I was still holding my ground, he lost his temper. He looked at the group of people still picking up the money and said, “Are you all deaf? Didn’t you hear what I said? Drag him to the back alley!”

After that, the bodyguards grabbed me again and dragged me into the alley behind Dreamscape.

The alley was narrow and suffocating. It was impossible to successfully yell for help in there.

Luckily, when I realized Steven was impersonating me earlier, I had already put my dad’s car plates and the driver request into the family group chat. I had also sent a message reading, [Dad, why are you going to Dreamscape behind Mom’s back and hiring girls for a night out?]

At this point, I was sure that both Mom and Dad were rushing over here.

I was thrown to the ground, and I felt blood trickling from the corner of my mouth. When I looked up, the bodyguards were surrounding me. They snickered and asked, “How should we deal with him, Mr. Morgan?”

Steven languidly walked to stand before me. He took several deep pulls from his cigarette before bending down. Without a word, he stabbed the cigarette into my face. I could not help but cry out in pain. “My father won’t let you off for this, Steven!”

Steven scoffed and stabbed the red-hot cigarette into my face again. “Your father?”

Steven exhaled a cloud of smoke and said in a mocking tone, “Oh yes, I remember now. Your father would pick you up from school sometimes. But he’s only a driver himself. He’s hardly a successful or capable man. What can he do to me?”

A driver?

The person who picked me up from school was the Morgan family’s butler.

I was about to say something when Steven got up and threw his cigarette butt away. He waved at the bodyguards. “Grab a cigarette each. I want to see some nice burns on his face!”

Back home, I had only just sat down when the private investigator called. “Mr. Morgan, Steven has gone back to the nightclub on Southside. I’ve just sent you some photos.”I clicked them open and saw Steven with a woman on each arm again. His face was ruddy and still so arrogant. Without another word, I brought some men and rushed over. When I got there, Steven was blind drunk. He pointed at the people around him and shouted, “I’m the heir of the Morgan family, so you’d better watch out! Don’t you dare bump into me!”The people around him complied, acting deferentially and staying out of his way. I scoffed. Although Dreamscape had been shut down, Steven was still addicted to impersonating me. I strode over and grabbed a glass of ice water from a table. I splashed it on his face. “Steven Anders!” I called.Steven looked up and glared at me with rheumy eyes. “You!”Once he realized it was me, his temper cooled down immediately. He muttered, “I’m leaving. I’m leaving now!”I

As he spoke, Dad took out a stack of photos from his bag. They featured young women accompanying various men. The woman who starred the most often in those photos was the heavily made-up woman who had been with Steven the other night. Dad said coldly, “I had someone investigate things. These women would get hotel rooms with the men they leave Dreamscape with. I’ll leave the rest to you.”The police officers frowned at the photos. “Alright. Thank you for the information you’ve given us. We’ll conduct a thorough investigation!”After the police officers left, Dad turned to me and said, “I won’t pardon anyone who hurt you!”A few days later, the police called. They said that my injuries were not very severe. Additionally, Conrad had taken all responsibility. Thus, they could only put Conrad and Steven in holding for a few days and have them pay compensation before letting the issue go. Although I was not happy about letting Conrad and Steven off so easily, I was not pressed. Ther

The man scoffed and said, “I’m the CEO of Morgan Group, and this is my son. Who do you think he is, then?”Steven tugged the man’s pant leg and whispered, “Stop talking.”I did not know if the man was simply addicted to the power of impersonating a rich man or if he misunderstood Steven, but he kept going. “Why should I?”“Let me tell you something, Mr. Shane. Morgan Group would have called everything off if it weren’t for my son falling for your daughter! You’ll regret beating up my son!”Dad was furious and kept shaking his head. He clapped his hands once, and police officers in hats came inside. They held recording devices. “Did you know that impersonation is illegal?”It was only then that the man realized something was wrong. He looked at the people surrounding him and then at Steven. He stammered out, “W-What’s going on?”Then, he looked again at Dad before he seemed to get it. He turned and tried to grab Steven and run, but the police officers apprehended him. They fis

The moment I arrived at the hospital, I was sent to the operating theatre. When I next woke up, I felt like I had been dismantled and put back together again. I could not even move. Dad was scowling as he sat by my bed. His tone was angry as he said, “I told you not to run around and mess about. What was the point of working as a driver? Look what happened now! Look how hurt you got!”I knew that Dad was actually very upset at my getting hurt despite his words. Dad calmed down a little and said, “The doctor said you have some broken ribs. Your finger is broken as well. You will have to stay in the hospital for observation because of the severe burns on your face.”Mom clutched my hand, and her eyes were still teary. “Forget about it. The good thing is that Cameron is fine…”As she spoke, she shot a glance at the corner and said icily, “Despite the mess, we found out that someone has been impersonating Cameron and causing trouble!”It was then that I realized Steven was on his

I watched Dad rush into the alley. His face was alight with rage. Behind him came Mom, who was furious as well.Steven went rigid with fear. His mouth was still gaping open. Tamara was flabbergasted. She frowned and pointed at Dad, asking, “Who’s he?”Dad was usually very low-key, and even some of the company’s staff could not recognize him as their CEO, much less outsiders. How could Tamara, as the self-proclaimed fiancee of the Morgan family’s heir, not know who he was?At this, I could not help but smirk. A laugh sputtered its way out. “What are you laughing about?” Tamara glared at me. Incensed, she picked up a broken brick from the ground and aimed it at my head. “How dare you laugh, you piece of trash? Don’t you know you’ve offended the heir of Morgan Group, the biggest company in Admonton? No one can save you now!”The pain made my vision go spotty. I lay down on the ground. Dad came toward me in long strides. He ducked to regard me as I fought to stay alive. Then, h

At that, the bodyguards rushed to get some cigarettes out and light them. They wore sinister smiles as they came for me. They kept up a stream of threats and insults. “I’ll burn you!”Before I could take another breath, those lit cigarettes were pressed into my skin. Burns flared up one by one, sizzling and numbing at the same time. Right then, Steven’s phone started ringing, and he immediately shushed us. The second he answered the call, his voice became overly sweet. “What is it, Tamara? Are you at Dreamscape? Right now?”Steven’s tone was sycophantic. “Alright, I’ll come right over and get you!”Once he hung up, the woman in Steven’s arms said sourly, “Is Miss Shane looking for you again?”Steven smiled and squeezed the woman tight. “I wouldn’t even look at her if our family didn’t have a partnership with hers.”Tamara Shane?I had a vague recollection of that name. She was the daughter of the CEO of one of Morgan Group’s partners. Soon, one of Steven’s cronies ran over
