Chapter 4

Author: Wooden Deck
On my way upstairs earlier, I'd already seen through the doorbell camera that Derek had left the delivery driver outside my apartment.

That way, if the driver decided to retaliate, he'd come after me instead. There was no way I was going to play along, so I called the police immediately.

Knowing he couldn't leave now, Derek had no choice but to come back. He even tried to accuse me first.

"Officers, he's the one who stole my delivery!"

As luck would have it, the two officers who arrived were the same ones from last time. They remembered me, which made things much easier.

"Officers, I found the person we were looking for last time." I deliberately said that part quietly before raising my voice to say, "Officers, my neighbor insists I stole his delivery, but he lives upstairs. I never even went up there.

"The delivery driver also said the address on the app was my apartment. I really don't understand what's going on.

"I did pick up a bag outside my door when I went downstairs to throw out the trash just now, but I thought it was a bag of garbage I'd left there."

The delivery driver quickly pulled out the order details and delivery records from the app.

Derek's eyes darted around as he started making things up. "I was protecting my privacy. Besides, if it wasn't yours, what gave you the right to take it?"

I let out a cold laugh. "Oh? If you wanted to protect your privacy, why didn't you have the driver leave it downstairs? Why leave it outside my apartment?

"I already took one by mistake at lunchtime and warned you about it. You still didn't learn your lesson tonight. How is that my fault?

"Besides, I usually leave garbage outside my door. Aren't you worried about your food getting dirty if you leave it there?"

As I spoke, I pulled out my phone and replayed what had happened at lunchtime.

Derek's face turned ugly. "You did this on purpose, didn't you? No wonder I had diarrhea yesterday. So it was because of you. I'm going to the hospital tomorrow, and if they find anything wrong, you'll pay for it!"

Even the officers seemed speechless at his behavior, though they couldn't say much because of their position.

I continued mockingly, "If you go dig through the dumpster downstairs now, it might still be warm."

Derek looked like he was about to explode. His eyes bulged with rage.

After piecing together the entire situation, the officers stopped humoring him.

"Sir, using someone else's address for your deliveries is also an invasion of their privacy. And she already warned you about it. You refused to change it. If your food went missing, she bears no responsibility. The loss is yours to bear.

"The driver delivered it exactly where the order instructed. Since you specifically requested that it be left at the door, don't make things difficult for him."

I smiled at the delivery driver. "You heard them. You didn't do anything wrong. Go finish your deliveries. If they deduct money from your pay, call the police and come find him."

The driver thanked both the officers and me before hurrying into the elevator.

Worried that Derek would try to pull another refund scam later, I twisted the knife a little further. "Officers, if he files for a refund again and ends up provoking a driver into coming after him, would that count as creating a public disturbance?"

The officers froze for two seconds before their expressions immediately turned serious.

"You have children at home. If you end up with a criminal record, it could affect their future opportunities."

"That's right. Delivery drivers have it hard enough as it is. You're an adult. If you make a mistake, you need to take responsibility for it yourself."

"This isn't even your first time. We couldn't find you last time, but if we have to come back again, you'll be explaining yourself at the station."

Derek opened and closed his mouth several times. Whatever he wanted to say, he ultimately swallowed it. All he could do was slink upstairs in defeat.

The delivery scam problem had finally been resolved.

What I didn't expect was that cutting off Derek's path to free meals would make him hold a grudge against me.

  • The Stolen Address   Chapter 9

Over the next month, I followed Vanessa every day.My only goal was to capture photos of her with the other man and their child. After a month, I had collected quite a few. I printed every photo, bundled them together, and secretly left the package outside Derek's door. That was all I could do. As for how Derek chose to handle things afterward, that was no longer my concern.I felt sorry for him, but I hadn't forgotten what he'd done to me.Still, I hoped he would use the evidence to file for divorce. So among the photos, I slipped in a lawyer's business card.Half a month passed after I left the package.Nothing happened.Given Derek's personality, there was no way he'd stay silent if he knew the truth. Two more days passed. After having dinner with Rocco, I returned home. While waiting for the elevator on the first floor, I froze the moment the doors opened.Several police officers were escorting a man out. When he lifted his head and glanced at me, I finally recognized hi

This time, Vanessa messaged me again, saying she'd brought some local specialties back from her hometown and wanted to give them to me as an apology. That was the last straw.I made my position clear and told her not to contact me again. I wasn't accepting anything she sent. Then I blocked and deleted her.It was becoming obvious that if I didn't deal with this situation myself, my life might genuinely be in danger.I couldn't go home for the time being.Calling the police could only delay the problem, not solve it. The root cause was still there. If I wanted to end this, I needed to know exactly what I was dealing with.I made a decision on the spot and quit my job. I had already been thinking about taking some time off anyway.Besides, given the situation, even if I didn't resign, Derek might eventually show up at my workplace and cause trouble. After moving into Rocco's place, I began investigating in secret.Vanessa was supposedly always away on business trips. However, af

After accepting her friend request, Vanessa immediately apologized to me. She complained about her failed marriage and told me all about her relationship with Derek. But I had no interest in hearing about their problems. I gave a few perfunctory responses and stopped engaging.Just before the conversation ended, she suddenly suggested taking me out for a meal. She said it was her way of apologizing for everything Derek had put me through lately. The moment I thought of Derek's attitude, I refused without hesitation. The man was paranoid enough already. If he found out I went out to eat alone with his wife, there was no telling what kind of scene he'd make. The best thing I could do was keep my distance. The farther away, the better.Unexpectedly, the very next day after work, Vanessa was waiting for me downstairs outside my office building. The moment she saw me, she walked over."Isaac, I've already made a reservation at a restaurant nearby. Would you be willing to have dinner

Since Derek was using his son to harass me, there wasn't much I could do about it.As a result, he only became more brazen. At first, it was just the peeing.Later, apparently deciding that wasn't enough, he started having his son bring bags of garbage downstairs and leave them outside my door every day. That day, I'd finally had enough. I gathered up all the trash and stormed upstairs.Clenching my fists, I pounded on his door.About thirty seconds later, his wife, Vanessa Sutton, answered.I was still furious. Dropping the bags of garbage at the doorway, I raised my voice and demanded, "If you dump trash outside my door again, I'm calling the police! Don't think being a kid means there'll be no consequences for your family!"To my surprise, Vanessa apologized, "I'm sorry. I travel a lot for work and haven't been home much. I didn't know any of this was happening. Has Derek been causing trouble for you again? Let me apologize first."Her attitude immediately took the wind out

One evening after work, I had barely reached my front door when the stench of urine hit me in the face. It was so strong it nearly made me throw up.My first thought was Derek Sutton upstairs. After putting my things down, I grew furious. My smart door lock had a camera. It looked like if I didn't teach him a lesson, he was never going to stop. I pulled up the footage recorded by the camera that day.At around four in the afternoon, a child came down through the emergency stairwell. He walked straight to my door, pulled down his pants, and started peeing on it.I nearly exploded.I didn't recognize the kid, but Derek was the only person I'd had a conflict with. Besides, he had a son. I often heard the child crying after being beaten by him.My first instinct was to call the police, but after thinking it over, I decided that was letting him off too easily.I immediately exported the video, and then I posted it in the residents' group chat.[Whose kid is this? This is disgusting
