CHAPTER 44

When the car came to a halt, I quickly jumped down and started walking into the house, even before Aaron could turn off the engine.

“Hey Lil Mama, wait up” came Ryan’s voice from behind me.

I turned to him. He walked towards me while Aaron was just getting out of the car. I could feel him staring at us but i didn't meet his eyes, i focused on Ryan instead.

“What are your plans for tonight?” Ryan asked gently holding my shoulders as he started leading me into the house.

“Other than go to sleep in anger? Nothing else” I replied, rolling my eyes.

I could hear Aaron’s footsteps behind us.

He gave his signature chuckle. “I thought so. Listen, I'm sorry about everything that happened tonight and I'm sorry I couldn't stop it, it just wasn't in my place. And I also want to tell you not to take whatever Aaron tells you to heart. He's a stubborn cold dude, but he's not a bad person and I'm sure whatever he said, he didn't mean it”

“You don't have to make excuses on his behalf. Aaron

Chapter 58.“Pumpkin” came Noah’s voice immediately i picked his call.“Hey Noah, you good?” I asked, my tone was heavy due to my mood but I hoped he didn't notice.“I’m not good. I miss you” he said in a low shaky voice that tugged at my heartstrings, not romantically but out of pity.I didn't want Noah feeling like this, I didn't want him having feelings for me, and I didn't deserve it. I didn't deserve his unwavering love. Here I was, ignoring someone who loves me and pining over someone who didn't give a shit about me. That spoke volumes about my foolishness and just goes to show that Noah deserved a better woman. When I didn't reply, he continued. “What are you doing? Can I see you today?” he asked.“Uhm…” I contemplated. I wasn't doing anything at home. My buddies, Ryan and Taylor weren't home. The only one at home was repulsed by my presence.Instead of sitting at home, doing nothing but wonder if I wasn't good enough for Aaron, maybe I should just stroll out.“What do you have

Chapter 57.Aaron was working on his laptop, looking engrossed as his brows furrowed in concentration. I stared at him from the staircase, looking desirable as always. The way his fingers worked on the keyboard briskly and expertly, how serious he looked, and how his eyes squinted sometimes as if trying to see something clearer.I don't know how long I stood there just watching him, but he seemed to notice my presence. He raised his head and saw me. His gaze lingered a bit before he gave me a nod of acknowledgment and returned to his work.I sighed. Today I wasn't getting that small smile that I liked. But at least he acknowledged me.I walked downstairs and sat on the couch beside him. He didn't look up from his laptop.“Aaron…” he raised his index finger as if signalling me to stop talking. So I paused and just stared at him. After a few minutes, he finally raised his head from his laptop, and he looked at me as if signalling me to continue.I swallowed. This man had a way of comple

Chapter 56.“Taylor what the fuck was that?!” I screamed immediately we both entered my room and I shut the door behind me.“What is what?” Taylor asked, trying to act clueless.“Don't piss me off young lady,” I said, fuming in anger. “In what world do you think it was right to sleep with my husband’s best friend whom you barely even know, and who less than 24 hours ago, you said you didn't like? Explain it to me. Make it make sense to me!”She simply shrugged. “I am an adult Beth. And if I want to have a one-night stand or a fling, I will”I couldn't believe my ears. “What? You just got off a heartbreak Tay. The last person you need for a rebound is Ryan because he will only break your heart further. When I said you can be friendly with him, I didn't mean get into his bed. Ryan is fucking bad news, do you hear me?”“I am not looking for love, or anything serious” she snapped. “I am done with that bullshit, now I will live my life on my terms and enjoy myself the same way you did befo

Chapter 55.ELIZABETH’S POVI was jealous of Aliyah.Yes, I was. With her, Aaron was free and a different person. I could tell he adored the little girl.Watching film hold her hand throughout as we walked around the park getting ice cream, laughing at her jokes, and listening attentively to whatever she was saying, tugged at my heart. He would make a great father, I thought. After we got the ice cream, we were supposed to head home but Aliyah was being naughty and running around the park wanting to be chased.“Come on Elizabeth, catch me if you can!” she screamed excitedly running further.“I'm a bad runner Aliyah. I will faint if I chase you” I said to her.“Then I'm stronger than you. Boohoo” she said as she booed at me.Without thinking, I placed my phone on Aaron’s chest and he caught it with his hand and i ran after Aliyah, i knew it was a bad idea to run around with an energetic child like that but it had been long since I last played like a child.AARON’S POV.Vivienne always

Chapter 54.AARON’S POV.The way she snapped took me aback. We were having a normal conversation, surprisingly not arguing, and the next minute she snapped. I wonder what I said wrong.“Are you bipolar?” I asked in amusement. Sometimes, Elizabeth amused me with her actions. She is a very funny, feisty woman. Her head snapped to me, eyes glistening with annoyance. I bit my lips to hide a smirk.“Excuse me?!” I shrugged. “Because why are you mad at me all of a sudden? What did I do now?”“You…” She paused and took a deep breath. “You know what? Never mind. I don't know what I'm even doing with you here in the first place. Let's go back to living like strangers,” she said and started walking away, pouting her lips like a teenager who was denied a party.I don't know why I did what I did but I went after her and gently grabbed her arm and spun her around to face me.“Elizabeth, what's pissing you off right now? What did I say wrong?”Her eyes lingered on where I held her for a while bef

  • The Stranger I Met On The Altar   Chapter 53

Chapter 53.The day passed by in a blur. After breakfast, everyone retired to their rooms. Taylor spent the day sulking and sleeping, too.Noah called me to check up on me and see if everything was okay at home. I assured him that all was okay.“Pumpkin, I don't trust that man. You need to get away from him soon enough,” he said, worry lacing his tone.“Aaron is harmless. Fear not. I'm safe”“I don't think so Pumpkin. That bastard looks like he can physically hurt you.“He has never attempted to even do such not to talk of actually doing it. Listen, I'm fine. Do not worry about i and my husband. We are fine” I said in a dismissive tone.“Pumpkin…”“Noah stop. Just stop, please. I said I’m fine” I didn’t know when I snapped loudly.Taylor stirred in her sleep and I decided to leave the room just so I wouldn’t wake her up.I walked to the garden, the phone still pressed to my ear as I heard Noah’s silent breathing.“I’m just so scared you know. I want to protect you but you’re not letti
