Satisfied, Melvin nodded. He knew Jade would never get smart. If he gave her a small benefit, she'd obediently comply.

"By the way, Grandma's birthday is in a few days. Wait until after the celebration to look for a place to move," Melvin said, making it clear this was non-negotiable.
