  • The Temporary Husband   WHAT AM I?

My first thought when I find him and his things missing is that something must have happened to him. I’m not a very deep sleeper, but after the wine and the activities from yesterday, it’s no surprise I slept through everything. The locks aren’t tampered with, I return to his room, eyes sweeping the entire place, top to bottom, in case I missed anything the first time I checked. There’s nothing but the lingering smell of him.My hand goes slack on the door handle, instinctively I know he’s gone, left while I was still in bed. He made the bed perfectly, no crease, that’s how I know he was carted away.He left willingly.Maybe something happened back home that he had to leave immediately, with no time to explain, the fact that he had time to make the bed perfectly, makes this theory invalid. Still, I refuse to believe that he could have woken me up for this emergency and chose not to. I dial his number over and over. Izzy doesn’t pick my calls. If something happened to a member of h

  • The Temporary Husband   IZZY'S GONE

I watch Izzy fidget. Even in the pool, it’s like he can’t stay still. The clouds are the only reason he’s come in here in the first place, so my eyes find the clouds, spotting the clouds and pointing them out to him. With every shape we find, I swim closer to him, he has his eyes on the clouds the whole time, but he still swims away from me. “Is that… what do you call big rat?” I point out to a vague shape, swimming towards him, his brows furrow as he tries to understand what exactly I’m talking about. I swim to him, he does a weird kick in the water, waddling away from me.Almost as if he can sense me coming. “A rabbit?” he asks in pleasant surprise. What surprises me is the soft chuckle he gives. I smile at him. He didn’t give that to Daniel. Pleased with myself, I start coming up with other animals.“That’s the fake horse one, the ones in the stories?”He presses his lips together, a smile playing on his lips, the sight is absolutely cute.“You mean unicorns.”I snap my finger

  • The Temporary Husband   TONIGHT HE'S ALL MINE

Tips to get Izzy’s attention; Tell everyone the story of how you met. He’ll panic, but he’d be looking at you.Have I said just how much I love bon fires? Izzy’s sitting beside me, like closer than he usually would. That alone is my victory for tonight. Then he drinks from my beer.My brain, like a train, grinds to a halt as I watch him take a drink from the can I’d drank from few seconds before. I’m not sure if it’s the alcohol buzzing in my system, but something’s definitely buzzing. Another thing to note about Izzy, he’s very, stubborn. To get him to use the room, I had to physically take him there myself. Literally, hoist him on my shoulders, it’s the only way I can think of, otherwise he’d just slink off, he’s very smart. What I didn’t account for was… for certain body parts to touch me.I’m not sure how I feel about it.I mean, I box, body parts touch each other a lot when you do such strenuous physical activity. But it’s Izzy’s body part. That makes all the difference. He

  • The Temporary Husband   SWEET IZZY

Dinner’s amazing because Izzy’s amazing.Sitting across from him, and just seeing the thoughts as they cross his mind is the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. He gestures when he’s talking, I don’t think he knows that he does that. He’s also very passionate. There’s fire in his eyes when he defends his song choices, and by heavens, I find that incredibly hot. If I were to be unkind, I’d poke more at his music just to keep watching the embers in his eyes, but I don’t do that. I can’t bring myself to do it, he’s too sweet. Izzy’s interest in boxing surprises me, good kind of surprise. The way his eyes widen as they take me in as if seeing me for the first time. A light shiver travels down my spine at his appraisal. The conversation gives me more insight on him, I now know that he prefers margarine to butter on his toast, and loathes runny eggs. He actually looks terrified at the prospects of eating it. He doesn’t just answer, he asks about me too.Like he genuinely wants to know.

  • The Temporary Husband   IZZY'S EYES

I want Izzy to look at me. The thought is persistent, that’s why I find myself doing all sorts of things to get his attention.Like when I feed a sea gull, he gives me a curious glance. That should have been enough. But I go ahead and ask to drive the boat, to have all his attention. The heat of his attention burns, in the best way possible. Then he starts asking questions about me, there’s a stretchy? itchy feeling in my chest when he asks. It’s easy to tell him about myself, answering the questions he’s asked, tentatively I ask mine, I’d like to say it’s going well, we can become something of friends. Until I accidentally knock him into the water.“This is why you asked if I could swim??” The frown is back, eyes flashing with annoyance and irritation. Not exactly what I hoped for when I wanted him to look at me.Shit.The man is hot. His wet shirt clings to his lean muscles, hair plastered on his face, he swipes it away with a huff, hiding his face from me for a few seconds. “You

  • The Temporary Husband   LOVE

I don’t lie to myself and say I’m not disappointed. There’s a lump of disappointment sitting in my stomach when morning comes, even then, Izzy doesn’t make any sound. He doesn’t leave his room. “He’ll come back out. Unless there’s another exit in the room.”That thought sent a ball of shock down my spine, and I hurriedly circle the apartment, searching for an exit that may lead out of his room. I heave a heavy sigh of relief when I find nothing. As I round the corner, there’s a man in a sun hat standing out there, a confused expression on his face as he takes me in. “Who are you?”He takes a small step back from my tone, his brows still furrowed. And then he looks at his phone in hand, recognition sparking in his eyes, apprehension turning to a laugh. “You’re the Valentine’s husband!”My confusion is even more apparent at this man that seems to know who we both are. I glance at the front door. Izzy was alone for however long I left them in there, could this man have gotten into th

“Drop your pants, I want to suck your cock.”“What?!”Standing in the kitchen, hand on my first coffee of the day, he walks in with that statement. He was still sleeping when I got out of bed, untangling our limbs from each other, taking a short bath right after. “No good morning?” I ask, dropping
