Putting my foot in tentatively, I was surprised by how good it felt. The liquid was viscous and warm. The steps were small, taking one at a time until I hit the bottom. It was up to my chest, so with a bit of fear, I went under. The roots of the tree were circling me and I could feel their presence despite the darkness.
