Chapter 6

There were two more left.

One of the twins lays on the the ground trying to feel his jaw, while the other tries to punch my guy. But he dodged it and punched the stomach, making a gasp sound leave the bad guy's mouth. He didn't let him recover as he punch the guy straight in the nose, as a crack sound followed.

My hair was tugged and I didn't have to know it was the last guy. His grip was strong. No doubt that a little part of my hair is dettached by now.

I couldn't let this guy get me. So I stomped on his feet as hard as I. His arms loosen their grip on my neck so I grabbed his wrist and twisted it, and at the same time, kneeing his crotch. That was enough for him to grunt in pain as he falls on the ground.

I wanted to do more, but before I could, someone grabbed my hand and drag me away from the scene.

Running. Running. Running. We were doing a lot of running right this moment. I noticed that he carried my bag for me. How polite.

Heavy panting was the only thing I can hear once we were out of their sight. We slowed down our running as we both pant for air in the middle of the sidewalk grass.

We slowly drop to the grass and leaned our head back as we both panted.

The stars above us was shining. It was so beautiful. My grandmother is probably there somewhere.

When both of our breathing calmed down, I turned my gaze towards him. He went first and spoke.

"You know, this isn't so bad after all." He closed his eyes as he catched his breath. I turned my eyes back at the stars.

"It's never been bad in the first place." I replied.

I felt him turn towards me. His eyes burned on my cheeks. "Yeah, 'cause you're obviously the 'rules are meant to be broken' type of person." he joked.

Almost. Not entirely true. That phase is always used in everything. Whether it's books, movies, and series. It's always there.

Ehem...the bad boy and the nerd trope....

"Not at all. I just- I believe there's no rules in the first place, ya know?" I let out a sigh and I closed my eyes.

I can still feel his gaze on me. "What do you mean?" he asked, now lying on his stomach as he brushed the hair away from my face.

"Like for example, who even said raising your middle finger is bad? Or- I don't know. Who even said you should be put to jail if you murderer someone?" I opened my eyes and was instantly met with those grey eyes.

That made him think for a moment.

My mom always taught me to be good to people. To be kind. To be honest. And I used to think those are the traits people are supposed to have. But now that I'm an adult, I kept rethinking that up until now.

"Everybody has killed someone or at least something in their life. Haven't you ever killed a bug? Should you be put to jail if you did?" I stared at him more seriously.

"Bugs are literally small as a dust." He frown at me as he fiddles with the grass.

"Exactly!" I exclaimed at him. "Just because humans are smarter meaning our lives is more important?" I questioned him. He didn't respond. "I don't think so."

"What are you trying to say?" He leaned into me closer.

"I'm saying you can't say 'rules are meant to be broken' when rules aren't meant to be made in the first place."

I rested my temple on the palm of my hand as I stare at him.

"So it's really late. You should probably go now." I stand up straight and I sweep my pants a couple of times to remove the dirt.

I bent down and got my backpack and I swiftly wore it. I noticed his eyes was on me the entire time I was getting ready to leave him.

I took out the CD from my bag and handed it to him, but he just continued to stare at me.

I looked back at him, trying to copy his actions. "What?" I asked, waiting for him to take his prize.

"Can I like-" He hesitated for a moment. I raised my eyebrows at him, waiting for his question.

"Spit it out, Samuels." I used his last name.

"Can I go with you for the rest of the night." He placed his hands inside his pants' pocket as he licked his lips.

That made me raise my eyebrows. Him? He wants to come with me? Did he hit his head on a rock while we were running or what?

I've always heard that officer Samuels has a son. But I've never seen him, interacted with him, or even saw a proof of his existence until this night.

Officer Samuels is a good officer. He does his job well. But sometimes, he ruins all the fun in life. He stops parties, stops skateboarding, and even repaints all my work.

"Depends. Will you tell me your name?" I smiled at him.

He looked away for a second, running his tongue on the side of his cheek, then he glanced back at me. "Okay, fine."

He took out his hand from his pocket and offered me a handshake. I eyed him playfully before I took his hand.

"Hi, I'm Renz. Renz Samuels." He shook my hand.

Renz. Renz. Renz. Renz Samuels. It suits him well. A pretty name for a gorgeous boy.

"Hey. I'm Mitch Saydriel, at your service." I joked as I dettached my hand from his. He chuckled playfully, a small smile on his face.

All of the sudden, my stomach wanted ice cream. I haven't eaten dinner at home since mom and dad were too busy fighting. My mind suddenly went back to them. I didn't know if they'll ever be able to fix their problem.

"Hey." A hand waved infront of me, letting my mind go back to reality.

I focused my eyes back on Renz. "Do want ice cream?" I blurted out.
