13. It was Worth it

Maeva POV

As Stella walked away nervousness began to take me over. I suddenly wasn't sure what to say or how to act. David was the only guy I'd ever been alone with willingly & he was just a friend. I had no idea what I was supposed to do around a guy I liked. As I thought about it images of being alone with Gamma Clay started coming to the forefront of my mind, & suddenly I was sinking. My stomach felt as though an anchor had been placed in it & my lungs were burning as though there was no air for them to take in.

"Maeva, Maeva!" Dimitri was shouting while he shook me.

"Yea, what is it? What's wrong?" I asked him as he shook me back from the depths.

"Are you OK? What happened?" He asked me, his face full of concern, as he ran his thumb under my eye slowly.

"What do you mean? I'm right here. I haven't moved," I answered confused. He looked at me curiously as he ran his other thumb under my other eye.
