Chapter 2

Author: Go Baby Go
Early the next morning, Sienna went to the Sea City Aviation Center.

She had originally come to Sea City for a flying competition. But after falling in love with Zayden unexpectedly, she moved to Sea City.

She planned to return to what she loved and go back to where she started.

“Your documents will be mailed to you in three days. Just sign for them when they arrive.”

Sienna took the receipt and left the aviation center.

As she looked up at the bright blue sky, a sense of relief washed over her.

She was finally about to leave this place that had trapped her and the man, Zayden, who had wasted five years of her youth. She had overestimated herself.

For him, she gave up her career. For him, she turned from a bright, confident woman into someone who humbled herself and begged for scraps of his affection. Everyone’s mockery had been right.

She could never awaken any desire in Zayden. They were from different worlds. They did not belong together.

“This is where it ends.”

She put the receipt back into her bag.

When she got home, she saw Zayden sitting on the couch with a dark expression. He looked like a solemn, unmoving statue.

The way he sat there so upright and composed made it hard to believe he was the same man who had lost control the night before.

But Sienna had seen it with her own eyes.

A wave of nausea rose in her throat, and she almost threw up again.

“Where did you go?” Zayden asked.

“To a place you’ve always wanted me to go.”

He had tried countless times to persuade her to get her license and leave.

She had finally done what he wanted.

He must be happy.

Zayden frowned and walked to her. “There’s a business dinner tonight. Get ready.”

A business dinner…

After four years by his side, if there was one thing she had done plenty of, it was drinking. Every time, it felt like it was killing her.

This time, Sienna did not want to go.

“I’m not feeling well. I don’t want to go.”

Zayden looked puzzled. “What are you throwing a fit about?”

Every time she went against his wishes, he made it seem like she was being unreasonable.

“That’s final. As my assistant, it’s your job.”

He did not give her a chance to respond before walking away.

In the end, Sienna showed up as expected. No one else in the company wanted to go because they were all terrified of Zayden, so it fell on her.

“Who is this?”

At the dinner table, aside from Zayden, every other person was a middle-aged man. Sienna had a great figure, and even in her neat work clothes, she drew lingering stares from the men around her. Their blatant gazes made her feel physically sick.

She looked over at Zayden. His expression remained cold, and he did not spare her even a glance.

“My assistant.”

His words only made the men at the table even more eager.

Sienna saw their restless movements and clenched her hands in nervousness.

She heard one of Zayden’s business partners tease him softly, “Isn’t she your girlfriend? Aren’t you afraid these old men will do something to her if you call her just your assistant?”

Zayden’s answer would decide her fate. Sienna could not help biting her lip.

Zayden remained calm and emotionless. “It’s fine. She can handle it.”

In that instant, all the dignity she had carefully built up shattered.

She could handle it?

The table had strong, high-proof liquors.

Did he think that she was just a useful tool? Did he simply not care whether she lived or died? If these men did something to her tonight, would he not care at all?

“You really can put up with anything. She’s your girlfriend. If she doesn’t matter to you, then what does?”

At that moment, the door to the private room suddenly swung open.

Zayden’s bodyguard rushed in.

“Sir, there’s bad news. Ms. Scott just left with a strange man!”

Sienna, you scared me to death!”She felt his tears soaking her shoulder and knew that he had been genuinely terrified. Her throat felt dry and hoarse as she forced out a whisper, “Where’s Zayden?”Sean released her from his arms. “He’s… in a coma. His entire body suffered severe burns. Do you… want to see him?”“I should.”After all, he had saved her life. She stood quietly outside the ICU.Through the glass window, she could see Zayden lying motionless on the bed. Some people said that he was lucky to be alive. That fire had been so extreme that Riley’s body was burned beyond recognition, yet he had somehow survived. But Sienna knew that for him, living would be worse than dying.Riley’s words had come true.“Sienna…”A voice called her name. She turned to see Margaret

In the days that followed, Sienna did not see Zayden again.Maybe he had gone back to Sea City, or maybe he was still somewhere, waiting for the right moment. But none of that mattered anymore.Meanwhile, her relationship with Sean was heating up fast. With Sean’s gentleness and care, Sienna got the kind of treatment she had never received from Zayden.Whenever she went out, he was there to drive her. Whenever she felt hungry, he brought food right to her lips.Gifts arrived endlessly, and fresh flowers were delivered to her every single day.“Sienna, does this mean we’re dating?”Sean tightened his grip on the bouquet in his arms and looked at her in anticipation.“Not yet.”His eyes lowered slightly.“But… it won’t be long. Let’s wait until after the performance.”As soon as she said that, his eyes lit up again.Lately, Sienna had been busy preparing for the upcoming performance. It was the result of half a year of hard work at the center. It was very important to her,

By the time they left the restaurant, it was already dark.James was talkative but also discreet. He praised and affirmed Sienna’s work.He did not ask about anything else.Sienna appreciated it. It made her feel comfortable.Sean dropped her off at the center. Just as Sienna was about to head back to her dorm, she saw someone crouching at the entrance.Zayden was under the streetlamp. The dim light stretched his shadow across the ground. He looked lonely and utterly defeated.“Where were you?”Sienna did not bother asking how he got in. She ignored him.She said nothing and walked straight past him.But Zayden suddenly grabbed her arm.“Sienna, why are you treating me like this? Is it because he has status and power?”Zayden had to admit that when he saw Sienna getting out of Sean’s car, jealousy took over him.The way she spoke to Sean and the way she smiled used to be just for him, but it was reserved for another man at present. He could not accept it.Sienna met h

Just then, the office door swung open. A middle-aged man in a suit walked in.With just one glance, Sienna recognized him as James Ziegler, the powerful head of the Ziegler family and a business giant in Helmswick.“Mr. Ziegler.”Seeing him, Zayden stood up at once. The Ziegler family in Helmswick was one of the top families in all of Astoria. Many of the Scott family’s business deals had only progressed because of the Ziegler family’s influence and support.Naturally, Zayden recognized him.“Mr. Ziegler, I was just teaching a worthless nobody a lesson. I hope I haven’t ruined your mood,” he said with a rare show of flattery. But James only looked at him icily.“Worthless nobody? Are you saying that my son isn’t worth your attention? That, in your eyes, he’s just a loser?”His words plunged the office into a dead silence.Sienna stared at Sean in disbelief. He also looked at her.“Your son? Are you saying this doctor is your son?”Zayden looked back and forth between the tw

Sienna’s chest heaved. She could not hold it back anymore and slapped Zayden hard across the face.“Zayden, you’re disgusting! What makes you think that, after everything you’ve done, I could still love you? When you gave my bone marrow to Riley, did you think that I would feel pain too?”“Sienna—”“Don’t say my name.” She raised her hand to stop him. “Hearing it from you just makes me sick.”“Alright, I won’t. But I won’t give up. I know you’re just angry. I will make it up to you with my actions.”After that, Zayden turned and walked away.Only then did Sienna finally breathe out in relief. The cold sweat on her back reminded her that everything had not just been a bad dream.Zayden had really come to Helmswick. And he came to take her back. Her legs felt weak, and her mind went blank.“Are you alright?”Sean reached out to help her. His eyes were filled with worry.Sienna rubbed her forehead and shook her head. “I’m fine.”She had suspected Zayden might come, but she ne

Sienna had been away from Sea City for so long that she never imagined Zayden would come looking for her.She remembered that he was supposed to get engaged to Riley. Why was he looking for her?Her reaction struck a chord deep in Zayden’s heart. But he quickly calmed himself. After all, Sienna had endured so much pain.Swallowing his pride for her just this once did not matter.“Sienna, I know you’re angry with me. I know I was wrong. I’ve taken care of Riley. If you still care about it, you can deal with her however you want, as long as it makes you happy.”Zayden spoke gently. He tugged at the hem of her shirt like a child desperate for affection. But to Sienna, his actions were nothing but disgusting. They sent chills down her spine. She knew exactly what he meant by “taken care of.” After all his years dominating Sea City’s business world, his methods were far from clean. If he could do that to Riley, someone who had been with him for nearly ten years, just how ruthless
