Meeting

Daylen opens his eyes. Something was off from the moment he came to his senses, for one he was not on the floor, and his hands weren't chained.

He closed his eyes once again. It was a dream, a nightmare he wished to wake up from. It was one of the nightmares that terrified him more than seeing the devil.

A dream of a better life. A normal life, whatever that meant. He had never known normal and was stressed when his mind imagined it, such dreams gave him hope and for someone in his shoes was the worst thing that could ever happen.

He slowly drew his eyes open only to find the white ceiling staring back at him. He got a whiff of a strong smell of medicine around.

Sitting up on the bed. His heart was pounding in his chest as he saw all the tubes going in and out of him. For the first time in his life, he saw blood going in him instead of out of his body.

It scared him. Daylen could only wonder what the monsters were planning to do with him. His body quivered on the bed.

Daylen flinched when the door opened. His eyes darted to the door checking on the person who walked in.

His body shivered with fright at the thought of being greeted by the monsters in his life. A woman in a nurse's outfit walked into the room with a tray full of medication.

On seeing the nurse, Daylen started having trouble breathing. His throat was closing in reducing the amount of oxygen that entered his lungs. He was having a panic attack.

The nurse noticed this and set the tray on the table and sauntered over to him. "Sir, you need to calm down. Take deep breaths, you are safe now," the nurse uttered in a comforting tone of voice.

'Safe,' Daylen wondered what that word meant. Its meaning was foreign to him. He had never once felt safe in his life.

Daylen stared at her. He had looked into the eyes of monsters. In time he had learned to see the darkness in their eyes even when they tried to fool him with a smile.

Yet, as much as he tried, he didn't see such malice in the nurse's eyes. He followed the instructions given to him, and Daylen inhaled and exhaled deeply. But he was far from dropping his guard on the woman.

After all, even the devil, the ruler of hell was once an angel of God. Who was to say that the woman wasn't working for the monsters?

Just then a man walked in with the doctor by his side. Daylen raised his gaze to the door and froze. Not out of fear, he was stunned by what he saw.

The man stood out with a glow radiating off of his body. No one could ignore him let alone miss his presence or look away from him.

He was tall, dressed in a blue suit with his dazzling hair arranged neatly in place. His deep green eyes, thin rosy lips, and sharp nose brought out an irresistible charm on him.

Seeing him made Daylen's heart skip a beat. It was beating so fast about to pop out of his chest to run to the stranger. At that moment, he looked into the man's eyes and saw light.

His breath hitched as he took in all of the man arching it into memory. He didn't want to look away for fear that the man might vanish from his side.

Daylen wished to have the man's face with him forever. It brought comfort to the wounds in his heart and gave it a new beat that was different from the one he has had forever.

They strolled across the room from the door to get to the bed. The man flashed Daylen a friendly smile that nearly made the male's heart stop beating.

All that he had known for as long as he had remembered were tears from his eyes and ruthlessness from those around him. It was the first time that he had seen something as simple as a smile.

The man smiling at him had this appeal to him that made Daylen's lips want to curl up and return the smile. But he couldn't since he didn't know how to smile.

He moved on the bed when the man sat down beside him. Something inside him was pushing him to move forward and sit close to the man, but his body wouldn't listen.

"I'm Syvan, I saved you from the Oakenheart organization. A blood trading group that held you captive," the man spoke in the most melodic voice that Daylen had ever heard.

The word 'save' and 'captive' echoed in Daylen's mind like a broken record on replay. He could not bring himself to believe it. It was too good to be true, the fact that night he choose to give up. A man appears out of the pages of a fairy tale book to save him.

His heart told him that it was true but his mind warned him that it could be a trap. Set by the very people that held him captive. He didn't have the reason, for why they would do that. He just knew that they were very vicious and cunning people.

"Can I ask a few questions about the group, Oakenheart?" He inquired from Daylen.

Daylen was weirded out by the man's politeness. No one has ever spoken to him with such a tone before. Or asked for his permission to do anything with him. They just went ahead and did it whether he was on board with it or not. It felt nice, someone was treating him like a human being and not a walking human blood bag.

"Would you happen to know the name of anyone who you came in contact with? Or who their leader might be?" Syvan raised his questions.

Daylen's lips remained tightly sealed. All he knew about the people that visited him was the clothes they wore, their shoes, and at times their eyes. Other than that he had nothing else on them.

"It's okay. You are safe," Syvan let out noting Daylen's shaking body. As he had moved forward he accidentally brushed his hand over Daylen's hand.

Daylen stopped moving, he felt a tingling wave sear pleasantly through his skin. He raised his chin and met the man's gaze.

Syvan looked into his eyes, 'Mate,' a deep voice within his soul whispered to him. He held Daylen's gaze unable to look away from him.

He found himself feeling this immense anger in his chest. He yearned for the blood of the Oakenheart organizations even more now. They didn't just take someone he cared for but tortured his mate to the state that he found Daylen in.

Syvan wanted nothing more than to keep Daylen safe and get even with the blood traders for hurting him.
