Chapter 3

Author: sunset
Sophia staggered toward us, her once healthy face now pale as a sheet, her once full cheeks hollowed as the vampire's poison spread through her veins.

Lucian ran over to support her. "Sophia, don't push yourself. The effect of the witch's potion is wearing off. If you get too worked up, your wounds will only get worse."

Sophia endured her sorrow and looked straight at me, tears welling in her eyes. "Anna, did those vampires threaten you and make you take my antidote? If you're in trouble, you have to tell me, tell Mom and Dad! We won't blame you!"

My heart ached as I watched her still fighting to keep me safe despite being in such a frail state. However, I hardened my heart as that moment passed and said in a harsh tone, "Enough with the pathetic act. Since when have I ever taken your antidote?!"

Sophia's eyes widened. "What are you saying?"

I looked at her with contempt. "I'm saying that you're framing me for something I didn't do."

Her tears finally spilled over, dripping onto the ground. "On the day of your trial, I set up a perimeter around the clearing in the forest. I don't know how, but those vampires managed to break through from the Northeast. Because you were about to pass the trial, I held them off for you. But…There were just too many of them, and I really couldn't defeat all of them on my own."

Sophia could barely finish what she was saying as her voice shook with emotion. Margaret pulled Sophia into her arms, trying to calm her down.

When Sophia's breathing finally calmed down, she continued. "After you finished the trial, those vampires were still attacking me."

I decided to simply turn my head away, acting like I did not care. Sophia cried even harder when she saw my attitude. She choked several times before she managed to speak again. "I thought you would come to save me, but you never did… You just stood there and watched until those vampires left.

"After they were gone, you walked toward me. I thought you would at least carry me back to the pack, but instead, you reached for my antidote."

When Sophia reached the end, she screamed at me hysterically. "Why?! Why did you do this to me?! After you passed the trial, you could've ripped those vampires apart! Why didn't you?! Is it because I didn't treat you well enough?!"

Sophia suddenly went quiet and raised her head in despair. Her eyes looked shattered, her face even paler than before.

Hearing all this, the pack was completely enraged.

"Sophia told the truth so clearly, but Anna's still playing dumb!"

"She has suffered so much, yet she's still thinking of Anna. She's so kind...."

"Maybe Anna's working with those Vampires, hoping that she can take her place once Sophia dies."

I looked at Sophia and touched the antidote hidden at my own waist.

After a long hesitation, I gritted my teeth and said, "The vampire's poison has already eaten away at her mind. Sophia's lying!"

Lucian stepped forward with a frown. "The witch's potion can neutralize the venom for a while. Sophia is thinking straight at the moment, and she'd never lie."

I decided to simply stop arguing.

I tried to leave, but it was obvious that the pack wouldn't let me go so easily. Someone fully transformed into their wolf form and bared their claws before lunging at me.

"Don't let this traitor get away!"

Blood soaked through my clothes as the attacks from the pack came from all sides.

"Kill this traitor who betrayed the pack!"

I fought back with everything I had, but the attack still left a deep gash right underneath where my ribs were.

Suddenly, Marcus pounced on me. He grabbed the pouch on my waist and tore it away. That was where the antidote was!

Marcus opened the pouch right in front of me.

But in that same moment, he widened his eyes as if he had seen something extremely terrifying…

I had a very long dream. In that dream, there were no Vampires, no silver chains, and no disdainful stares.I was still that little cub running around in the snow, my father lifting me high into the air while my mother followed behind, laughing as she told us to be careful…-When I opened my eyes, sunlight was pouring through the tall window and onto the warm blankets. This was not the dungeon. This was the best room in the pack's compound. Only Sophia had stayed here in the past.I moved my fingers, and my body felt light as a feather. The wounds on my wrists had faded into pale silver lines. That was the proof that a bond had been forged."When will you wake up?" A familiar voice came from beside the bed.I turned my head around, only to see Sophia sitting in a chair next to me. She wore a long white robe, looking healthier than ever, with a soft halo of holy light around her. She held a damp cloth as she gently wiped my hands. When she saw my eyes open, the towel slipped

My blood went into Sophia's mouth and into her throat.Suddenly, Sophia's body went rigid, and light burst from every pore. The black lines on her skin began to quickly retreat as if they had been exorcised from her body. The healing was brutally painful as my blood was mending her body and soul. Sophia let out low growls repeatedly. That was her Wolf Soul being stitched back together by force. At the same time, I could feel the power inside me draining fast. With every drop of blood that left my body, my mind grew a little more hazy."Stop! Stop it!" Marcus finally managed to escape from the vampires and rushed toward us, his voice shaking so hard it barely sounded like him. He stared at my face that was becoming paler as every second passed. He finally understood the price of all this."Anna… That's enough! You're going to die!" He tried to shove me away, but the moonlight energy flowing out of my body threw him back. That energy pushed everything away in nature. Until the cleans

Flames roared over the compound with the stench of blood mixed with the smell of burned fur.A dozen vampires were circling overhead. With every dive, they took another werewolf's life.Marcus, in his massive wolf form, stood in front of the door to the room where Sophia was resting. His back was covered in claw marks, and the blood made it hard to see. Inside the room, Margaret was holding the frail Sophia as she sobbed. Lucian swung his longsword, guarding them. However, there were just far too many vampires. With the core of the barrier collapsing, the pack's power had been severely reduced.I saw Cyrus moving with the crowd, pretending to cast defensive spells while quietly bending the path of incoming attacks. He wanted to use this chaos to wipe out the current Alpha and his bloodline for good."That traitor got out!" Someone spotted me and shouted.Marcus turned his head, and his golden pupils burned with wild hatred. "Anna! How dare you show yourself!"He roared, dropped

As Lucian dragged me away, the pack continued hurling their curses at me.I could not stop myself from looking back, only to see Sophia staring at me. The sorrow in her eyes scared me more than any poison.I closed my eyes.-Once I was in the dungeon, the darkness consumed me completely. I curled up on the cold stone floor as every small movement caused me unbearable pain. It was a reminder that my body was being torn apart. From outside the door came the sounds of branches being snapped as someone walked over them. Then, the bolt on the iron door was slid open.Cyrus stepped inside the cell.In the dim, flickering light, the face that had appeared so stern and virtuous in the daylight now looked malevolent and twisted. He stopped in front of me and lifted my chin up with the toe of his boot. "Oh, Anna. You're still just as stubborn."I forced my eyes open and spat a mouthful of blood at that face full of deception. "Cyrus... You're scared."The edge of Cyrus's eye twitched.

Inside the vial was a thick, black liquid. When a drop hit the ground, it sizzled as it corroded the ground. The smoke was so biting that it made it difficult for Richard to open his eyes. This was not the golden Moonlight Antidote. This was Void Poison, the deadliest toxin known to werewolves. It could make one's soul wither before it devoured the flesh.Marcus stared at the spreading black stain by his boots."This..." He muttered under his breath before looking up at me, and the disgust in his eyes hurt me more than he would ever know. "This is what you have in your pouch?! You've been carrying this very thing that can kill your sister?!"My mother let out a broken scream as her knees buckled, and she collapsed to the ground. The pack also let out a collective gasp. That was when the Great Elder, Cyrus, stepped over the doorway. He was the oldest werewolf in the pack. He had never stopped preaching about virtue and justice, but his heart was colder than anyone else's.He po
