Chapter 2

作者: sunset
Lucian's voice softened as he spoke to me. "Anna, I went to a witch in the Black Market and begged her for a potion. If you hand over the antidote, we can mix the two and save Sophia."

Marcus lowered his head, making a promise as he held himself back with everything he had. "I swear as the Alpha, as long as you give Sophia's antidote back, you will be forgiven for everything that has happened today."

My mother's eyes were red, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Anna, I'm begging you… Don't ruin your whole life because of this."

The others stared at me in disdain.

"The Alpha and Luna are lowering themselves in front of a Beta just to get their daughter's antidote back?"

"Sophia's a very kind woman... When my brother was trapped in the vampire's territory a few years ago, she was the one who went to rescue him."

"That's right! My dad almost died of silver poisoning, and all the healers said he would not last three months, but Sophia saved him, too!"

The crowd was getting really upset.

Then, a stone suddenly hit my forehead. Branches, metal scraps, and all kinds of debris flew at me after that.

I unleashed my werewolf's aura, shattering everything in the air, and the fragments fell to the ground. I then said, "I've already completed the ceremony to join the pack. If you hurt me now, the Council of Elders will hold you responsible."

Marcus only grew more enraged after he heard that. "Without Sophia, you never would have passed the trial! If this reaches the Council, they won't side with you! They'll even exile you, and all you'll ever be after that is just a pathetic Rogue!"

I looked calmly at the man who had raised me. "If you really think I'm guilty, then let the Council judge me. I'll say the same thing even if I'm before the Council. I'll never admit to something I never did."

My father's face was filled with rage while my mother cried even harder.

Suddenly, Lucian seemed to remember something. "Anna… The reason you won't hand over the antidote... Is it because of me?"

I wasn't sure how to answer his question, because I had indeed loved Lucian in the past.

Margaret was so angry that she slapped me. "Anna! You betrayed your own Pack out of jealousy?! I already know that Sophia gave her weapon to you on the day of the trial. Otherwise, those vampires could never have laid a hand on her!"

Margaret couldn't stop crying at this point.

I simply looked at her with empty eyes and spoke in an even calmer voice. "Maybe Sophia secretly reached a deal with the vampires and lured them over on purpose."

My father's chest heaved as he pulled out a whip with silver barbs from his belt and cracked it hard against the ground. "I always thought that even though you were adopted, you were still a good girl! I thought that you and Sophia could become true sisters! But it seems that I had adopted a snake from the very start! I should have just left you in those ruins back then!"

Every lash from Marcus was pure agony.

When I finally managed to steady myself, Margaret suddenly fixed her gaze on me, a sudden flash of clarity flickering in her eyes before I could say anything. "Anna… Are you jealous that Sophia is the true heir of the Pack's heir and believe she came back and stole your life?"

It was true that I had been jealous.

In the first few years after Sophia had come back, my parents had treated her like the world's most valuable treasure and completely ignored the adopted daughter they had raised.

Me.

I was so jealous of her that I had grown to hate her, the one who had stolen everything that used to be mine.

So, I would secretly slip wolfsbane into Sophia's drinking water or spread rumors about her in front of the other young werewolves. I tried everything I could think of just to make Sophia miserable.

But she seemed blind to all my hostility.

When I fell behind in training, Sophia was the one who taught me and helped me improve.

When I went out on patrol, she always went ahead to scout the way.

When other wolves mocked me for being a Rogue the pack had adopted, Sophia stepped in front of me and protected me. She said her sister was a member of the pack, and they couldn't reject a member of their pack.

After she realized why I kept my distance, Sophia even begged our parents to spend more time with me.

Slowly but surely, we became like real sisters.

The more I thought about it, the tighter my chest felt.

Then, my mother's voice pulled me back to the present. "Sophia gave you everything that belonged to her, yet you're still unsatisfied?! What you actually want is her life?!"

I shook my head with a bitter smile.

No matter how jealous I had been back then, all of that was in the past. How could I possibly have taken Sophia's antidote for those reasons?

I shoved forward, trying to break through the others that were surrounding me. "You're all mad. I have already formed a formal bond with the pack. I have no reason to hurt her! Sophia's antidote? Even if you had begged me, I wouldn't have even been bothered to get it!"

The moment those words left my mouth, everyone exploded.

"Without the Alpha's protection and the heir's help, who do you think you are?!"

"You hurt your sister and betrayed your adoptive parents' kindness!"

"Anna, you're not worthy of being part of our pack!"

Just as the pack started yelling at me, someone from the crowd spoke up in a weak voice. "Don't blame her, she must have her reasons…"

  • The Traitor and the Betrayed   Chapter 8

I had a very long dream. In that dream, there were no Vampires, no silver chains, and no disdainful stares.I was still that little cub running around in the snow, my father lifting me high into the air while my mother followed behind, laughing as she told us to be careful…-When I opened my eyes, sunlight was pouring through the tall window and onto the warm blankets. This was not the dungeon. This was the best room in the pack's compound. Only Sophia had stayed here in the past.I moved my fingers, and my body felt light as a feather. The wounds on my wrists had faded into pale silver lines. That was the proof that a bond had been forged."When will you wake up?" A familiar voice came from beside the bed.I turned my head around, only to see Sophia sitting in a chair next to me. She wore a long white robe, looking healthier than ever, with a soft halo of holy light around her. She held a damp cloth as she gently wiped my hands. When she saw my eyes open, the towel slipped

My blood went into Sophia's mouth and into her throat.Suddenly, Sophia's body went rigid, and light burst from every pore. The black lines on her skin began to quickly retreat as if they had been exorcised from her body. The healing was brutally painful as my blood was mending her body and soul. Sophia let out low growls repeatedly. That was her Wolf Soul being stitched back together by force. At the same time, I could feel the power inside me draining fast. With every drop of blood that left my body, my mind grew a little more hazy."Stop! Stop it!" Marcus finally managed to escape from the vampires and rushed toward us, his voice shaking so hard it barely sounded like him. He stared at my face that was becoming paler as every second passed. He finally understood the price of all this."Anna… That's enough! You're going to die!" He tried to shove me away, but the moonlight energy flowing out of my body threw him back. That energy pushed everything away in nature. Until the cleans

Flames roared over the compound with the stench of blood mixed with the smell of burned fur.A dozen vampires were circling overhead. With every dive, they took another werewolf's life.Marcus, in his massive wolf form, stood in front of the door to the room where Sophia was resting. His back was covered in claw marks, and the blood made it hard to see. Inside the room, Margaret was holding the frail Sophia as she sobbed. Lucian swung his longsword, guarding them. However, there were just far too many vampires. With the core of the barrier collapsing, the pack's power had been severely reduced.I saw Cyrus moving with the crowd, pretending to cast defensive spells while quietly bending the path of incoming attacks. He wanted to use this chaos to wipe out the current Alpha and his bloodline for good."That traitor got out!" Someone spotted me and shouted.Marcus turned his head, and his golden pupils burned with wild hatred. "Anna! How dare you show yourself!"He roared, dropped

As Lucian dragged me away, the pack continued hurling their curses at me.I could not stop myself from looking back, only to see Sophia staring at me. The sorrow in her eyes scared me more than any poison.I closed my eyes.-Once I was in the dungeon, the darkness consumed me completely. I curled up on the cold stone floor as every small movement caused me unbearable pain. It was a reminder that my body was being torn apart. From outside the door came the sounds of branches being snapped as someone walked over them. Then, the bolt on the iron door was slid open.Cyrus stepped inside the cell.In the dim, flickering light, the face that had appeared so stern and virtuous in the daylight now looked malevolent and twisted. He stopped in front of me and lifted my chin up with the toe of his boot. "Oh, Anna. You're still just as stubborn."I forced my eyes open and spat a mouthful of blood at that face full of deception. "Cyrus... You're scared."The edge of Cyrus's eye twitched.

Inside the vial was a thick, black liquid. When a drop hit the ground, it sizzled as it corroded the ground. The smoke was so biting that it made it difficult for Richard to open his eyes. This was not the golden Moonlight Antidote. This was Void Poison, the deadliest toxin known to werewolves. It could make one's soul wither before it devoured the flesh.Marcus stared at the spreading black stain by his boots."This..." He muttered under his breath before looking up at me, and the disgust in his eyes hurt me more than he would ever know. "This is what you have in your pouch?! You've been carrying this very thing that can kill your sister?!"My mother let out a broken scream as her knees buckled, and she collapsed to the ground. The pack also let out a collective gasp. That was when the Great Elder, Cyrus, stepped over the doorway. He was the oldest werewolf in the pack. He had never stopped preaching about virtue and justice, but his heart was colder than anyone else's.He po

  • The Traitor and the Betrayed   Chapter 3

Sophia staggered toward us, her once healthy face now pale as a sheet, her once full cheeks hollowed as the vampire's poison spread through her veins.Lucian ran over to support her. "Sophia, don't push yourself. The effect of the witch's potion is wearing off. If you get too worked up, your wounds will only get worse."Sophia endured her sorrow and looked straight at me, tears welling in her eyes. "Anna, did those vampires threaten you and make you take my antidote? If you're in trouble, you have to tell me, tell Mom and Dad! We won't blame you!"My heart ached as I watched her still fighting to keep me safe despite being in such a frail state. However, I hardened my heart as that moment passed and said in a harsh tone, "Enough with the pathetic act. Since when have I ever taken your antidote?!"Sophia's eyes widened. "What are you saying?"I looked at her with contempt. "I'm saying that you're framing me for something I didn't do."Her tears finally spilled over, dripping onto
