Chapter 4

Author: Not Drunk
Everyone in the auction house knew my face. As long as someone took off my mask, I would be saved. But the people passing by were in a hurry. No one cared about an item that was about to be auctioned.

After the countdown, I was placed on a huge tray and pushed out. "The third lot is now onstage. The starting bid is one dollar."

When the buyers below heard this, they began whispering to each other. "One dollar? Are they insulting us?"

"This has to be the cheapest lot in the auction's history, right?"

The price stunned even me, and a wave of humiliation surged through my chest. Lander was humiliating me! He wanted me to know that without Jillian, I would be worthless!

Under Lander's manipulation, my price quickly rose to three hundred thousand dollars.

I thrashed around desperately, and the sight of me writhing made the whole hall burst into laughter.

Suddenly, my eyes met Jillian's. She stared at me in shock, rubbed her eyes, and kept staring at me.

I knew she had recognized me.

'Jillian! It's me, Firo! Save me!'

I kept trying to call for help, but all I could make was more muffled sounds.

"Lander, that's Firo!" She froze, then climbed down from Lander's lap in a panic. Then she stared blankly at me. "Why... Why is he being auctioned?"

Lander had not expected Jillian to recognize me with my face covered. Viciousness flashed through his eyes before he answered. "You must have made a mistake. How could Firo be onstage?"

"Impossible! I wouldn't mistake him! Firo has a red birthmark on his neck! It's definitely him!" Jillian shot to her feet, but after noticing the looks from around the room, she quietly sat back down and asked, "What exactly is going on?!"

Lander gently calmed Jillian down, then put on a show by calling a staff member over to ask a few questions. After that, he looked toward me on the stage. "The staff said he got on the auction stage voluntarily... and they also said..."

Jillian pressed him, and he answered slowly, "They said he's a regular at the underground casino. He owed too much gambling debt and couldn't pay it back, so he had no choice but to do this..."

'Lies! Jillian, don't believe his nonsense!'

If looks could kill, Lander would already have been torn to pieces. Unfortunately, everything went against me, and Jillian readily believed Lander's story. Her eyes no longer held any warmth as only sneers remained as she said, "I thought he was a decent, respectable man. I didn't expect to be fooled for three years…"

I wanted to argue back, but all I could do was watch helplessly as I was bought for five hundred thousand dollars.

Lander sounded as though he were testing Jillian as he casually slung an arm around her shoulders.

"Jillian, the woman who bought Firo, is famous for playing with men. I heard not a single person has ever come out of her house in one piece. Are you sure you want to watch him fall into her hands?"

Even I was holding my breath as I waited for Jillian's answer.

In the end, I only heard her laughing mockingly before she sent me to my doom. "I thought he was pure. I got my money's worth after three years anyway."

Tears rolled from the corners of my eyes, and I finally gave up on that relationship.

Just as the staff were about to take me off the stage, the doors of the hall were suddenly pushed open. A man wearing a classic suit walked in as everyone greeted him fawningly.

"Boss, you're here!"

My eyes widened, as if I had grabbed a lifeline.

The most ridiculous part was that when Jillian's father picked up the call, his roar could be clearly heard through the receiver. "Everyone's accounts have been frozen! You better not cause trouble for me during this period! Otherwise, forget about ever calling me your father again!" After the call ended, Jillian's face turned pale as she stared at her phone, unable to recover for a long time. "What exactly is going on here?" My dad sneered and draped an arm around Jillian's shoulders. "A bet is a bet, little one. Don't worry. I'm a law-abiding citizen. I won't make you do anything illegal." Leo walked over with a smile and took Jillian and Lander away, and the farce finally ended. On the way home, I was filled with curiosity. "Dad, what are you planning to do with them?" My dad stared at me, at a loss for words. "Why do you look like a mobster even more than your old man? No, we're not icing them. We call this re-education. "I contacted Lander's and Jillian's family. In ex

"I'm not interested in having one woman at home while chasing another elsewhere."My original intention was to mock Jillian, but unexpectedly, she gazed at me affectionately and even began acting as though she already owned the place. She acted as if she were already my dad's daughter-in-law and waved a hand imperiously, ordering the staff around. "Didn't you hear what Firo said? Hurry up and bring me some food. I want beef wellington. Do you hear me? You people on the stage, hurry up and untie Lander! We're all your guests now!" Unfortunately, no matter how long she pointed fingers, not a single person listened to her. The punishment from a few days ago was still vivid in everyone's minds, and no one dared make the same mistake again. Frustratingly, Jillian finally said, "Firo, your family's servants need proper training! They don't know how to read the room!" Heh. I began to question my own taste. How had I fallen for someone like this and even wanted to spend my life wi

My dad sat there with a commanding posture, propping his chin on his hand as he surveyed the room. Looking closely, his posture was exactly the same as mine. We really were father and son. "I bid... One dollar." Someone raised a paddle. As if inspired, everyone began raising their paddles and bidding, but each time, they only added one dollar. Lander's face went red with anger, and he glared at me viciously. "Firo, you finally showed your true colors! You spent all these years pretending to be innocent and naïve! Was it fun to toy with Jillian? You don't have to humiliate me like this. My family isn't powerless either!" As soon as he finished speaking, my dad snapped his fingers. Soon, someone delivered the news to Lander that his family's cash flow had dried up and bankruptcy was imminent. "You mean this Harris Family? Unfortunately, they can barely protect themselves now. They've probably even forgotten who caused all this. Do you want me to remind them and ask them to come

I covered my mouth and laughed for a long while before finally getting into the car. But the farther we drove, the less familiar the road became. Noticing my confusion, my dad smiled and rubbed my head. "You think I'd sell you? Those brats bullied my son. Their families owe us an explanation." After following him down three levels below ground and to the auction house, I realized there was an entire hidden world here. I asked, "Dad, is this yours?" He hummed in confirmation and then smiled at me. "What do you mean mine? It will all be yours in the future." I touched the intricately carved marble pillars with curiosity, silently calculating how much they were worth. What could I say? Forgive me for being hopelessly obsessed with money. Before I could finish being impressed, the doors leading into the auction house opened. Leo led the staff in calling out in unison, "Welcome home, Mr. Firo!" I smiled faintly and waved my hand as I stepped into the hall. In that moment, ev

I flexed my wrists, rubbed raw and bleeding from the ropes, and watched the staff with a somber expression. "I swear to God, boss! I failed to recognize the young master!" "I broke your rules, boss! I have no excuse!" The entire auction house echoed with voices begging for forgiveness. My dad brought over a blanket and carefully wrapped me in his arms. "Are you alright, my son? This is all my fault. I let you suffer." The man who had always feared nothing now had a trembling voice. As he spoke, he hugged me tightly. "I promised your mother I would take good care of you, but I broke my word!" I gently patted my father's back and shook my head. "This is all my fault for trusting the wrong people. If I hadn't believed that cheating woman Jillian, I wouldn't have ended up like this." I looked coldly toward Jillian in the middle of the hall, my tone calm. "I want these two to pay for their actions!" The moment I finished speaking, I lost consciousness again as my vision turn

My dad was here!I was saved! My dad spotted me on the auction stage with just a single glance. He pushed through the crowd and walked toward me while calling Leo over to quietly ask how I had ended up on the auction stage. When he heard the answer, his eyes narrowed and he slapped Leo across the face. "Idiot! Did I teach you to do things like this?" Leo held his face and said nothing, but his eyes searched the room. I knew he was looking for Lander. Seeing this, I stopped panicking as I simply relaxed and waited for my dad to come save me. Just like Jillian, my dad immediately recognized his own son with a single glance. I had once thought Jillian would be the person who loved me most in this world other than my dad. Now that I thought about it, my dad was much more reliable than anyone else. Just as my dad was about to reach me, Lander rushed out from nowhere. He bowed, his expression a fawning smile as he greeted my dad. "You must be Boss Rossi. Your reputation precedes
