Chapter 3

Author: Not Drunk
The sound of leather shoes tapping on the ground drew closer. I looked up, and my eyes narrowed.

It was Lander!

He was now wearing a formal suit. He had shed the carefree persona he always put on around Jillian, his expression full of mockery. He looked down at me and said playfully, "I found you a good buyer tonight, Firo."

What was this madman talking about? I wanted to say something, but Lander had already taped my mouth shut.

Soon, he put a clown mask on me and dragged me out. "You're more important than I imagined. You got Jillian to bring you to an auction like this. That's basically handing you the company's weakness. Do you know what this place is? It isn't a legitimate auction house.

"This is Boss Rossi's turf. As long as you have money, you can buy anything you want here. That includes… people." He drew out the pause before the final word. His fingers brushed across my face before he clamped down on my throat.

As I struggled to breathe, something suddenly occurred to me.

Boss Rossi?

Wasn't that my old man's turf?

My breathing grew more frantic, and less and less air reached my lungs. Lander's triumphant voice kept echoing in my ears. "Don't worry. Once you're up on the auction stage, not even Jillian will be able to save you. I want to see whether Jillian will still want you after those rich women ruin you!"

He suddenly released me and admired the red mark on my neck. I struggled and made muffled sounds, desperate to say something, but all I could do was watch Lander drag me into the auction house like dead weight. "This is the third lot. Please handle it."

Lander reassumed his persona of a proper gentleman and handed me over to the auction staff.

My eyes widened when I realized this was Leo Colombo, who was often at my father's side! Leo! Save me! I writhed back and forth, trying to remove the mask from my face.

Leo glanced at me, then frowned at Lander. "Is he here voluntarily? You know our rules."

Lander laughed awkwardly and stuffed a thick envelope into Leo's hands. "Everyone knows Boss Rossi loves his son more than anything and can't stand seeing innocent people getting victimized. Don't worry. This man is desperate. His family needs money for medical treatment and he begged me to get him a good price!"

Leo did not take Lander's envelope, nor did he pay any more attention to me. He simply lowered his head and silently counted down. "Fine. Go inside."

I watched helplessly as Lander walked into the auction house's main hall and sat down beside Jillian. Their conversation reached my ears, and it sounded painfully ironic. "The call to Firo still hasn't gone through?"

Jillian shook her head, enduring Lander's hands wandering over her body. "Why can't he understand how much effort I've put into this for his own good?

"Firo's family is too ordinary. My mom already made a huge concession by agreeing to approve of me marrying him. I'm destined to marry the heir of another powerful family for an alliance marriage."

Her words struck me.

An alliance marriage?

From beginning to end, Jillian had only treated me as her plaything!

For a moment, I forgot to even struggle as I could only feel the ache in my heart.

How could Jillian do this to me?

Back then, when she proposed to me, she kept saying I was the only person she would ever love. As if Lander's interference weren't enough, she'd been secretly making plans like this all along.

I gritted my teeth and glared at Jillian, wishing I could tear her apart.

Nice one, Jillian…

It was at this time that all the lights in the hall dimmed, and every staff member began to move.

I kept on making muffled sounds, trying to get the attention of anyone passing by.

The most ridiculous part was that when Jillian's father picked up the call, his roar could be clearly heard through the receiver. "Everyone's accounts have been frozen! You better not cause trouble for me during this period! Otherwise, forget about ever calling me your father again!" After the call ended, Jillian's face turned pale as she stared at her phone, unable to recover for a long time. "What exactly is going on here?" My dad sneered and draped an arm around Jillian's shoulders. "A bet is a bet, little one. Don't worry. I'm a law-abiding citizen. I won't make you do anything illegal." Leo walked over with a smile and took Jillian and Lander away, and the farce finally ended. On the way home, I was filled with curiosity. "Dad, what are you planning to do with them?" My dad stared at me, at a loss for words. "Why do you look like a mobster even more than your old man? No, we're not icing them. We call this re-education. "I contacted Lander's and Jillian's family. In ex

"I'm not interested in having one woman at home while chasing another elsewhere."My original intention was to mock Jillian, but unexpectedly, she gazed at me affectionately and even began acting as though she already owned the place. She acted as if she were already my dad's daughter-in-law and waved a hand imperiously, ordering the staff around. "Didn't you hear what Firo said? Hurry up and bring me some food. I want beef wellington. Do you hear me? You people on the stage, hurry up and untie Lander! We're all your guests now!" Unfortunately, no matter how long she pointed fingers, not a single person listened to her. The punishment from a few days ago was still vivid in everyone's minds, and no one dared make the same mistake again. Frustratingly, Jillian finally said, "Firo, your family's servants need proper training! They don't know how to read the room!" Heh. I began to question my own taste. How had I fallen for someone like this and even wanted to spend my life wi

My dad sat there with a commanding posture, propping his chin on his hand as he surveyed the room. Looking closely, his posture was exactly the same as mine. We really were father and son. "I bid... One dollar." Someone raised a paddle. As if inspired, everyone began raising their paddles and bidding, but each time, they only added one dollar. Lander's face went red with anger, and he glared at me viciously. "Firo, you finally showed your true colors! You spent all these years pretending to be innocent and naïve! Was it fun to toy with Jillian? You don't have to humiliate me like this. My family isn't powerless either!" As soon as he finished speaking, my dad snapped his fingers. Soon, someone delivered the news to Lander that his family's cash flow had dried up and bankruptcy was imminent. "You mean this Harris Family? Unfortunately, they can barely protect themselves now. They've probably even forgotten who caused all this. Do you want me to remind them and ask them to come

I covered my mouth and laughed for a long while before finally getting into the car. But the farther we drove, the less familiar the road became. Noticing my confusion, my dad smiled and rubbed my head. "You think I'd sell you? Those brats bullied my son. Their families owe us an explanation." After following him down three levels below ground and to the auction house, I realized there was an entire hidden world here. I asked, "Dad, is this yours?" He hummed in confirmation and then smiled at me. "What do you mean mine? It will all be yours in the future." I touched the intricately carved marble pillars with curiosity, silently calculating how much they were worth. What could I say? Forgive me for being hopelessly obsessed with money. Before I could finish being impressed, the doors leading into the auction house opened. Leo led the staff in calling out in unison, "Welcome home, Mr. Firo!" I smiled faintly and waved my hand as I stepped into the hall. In that moment, ev

I flexed my wrists, rubbed raw and bleeding from the ropes, and watched the staff with a somber expression. "I swear to God, boss! I failed to recognize the young master!" "I broke your rules, boss! I have no excuse!" The entire auction house echoed with voices begging for forgiveness. My dad brought over a blanket and carefully wrapped me in his arms. "Are you alright, my son? This is all my fault. I let you suffer." The man who had always feared nothing now had a trembling voice. As he spoke, he hugged me tightly. "I promised your mother I would take good care of you, but I broke my word!" I gently patted my father's back and shook my head. "This is all my fault for trusting the wrong people. If I hadn't believed that cheating woman Jillian, I wouldn't have ended up like this." I looked coldly toward Jillian in the middle of the hall, my tone calm. "I want these two to pay for their actions!" The moment I finished speaking, I lost consciousness again as my vision turn

My dad was here!I was saved! My dad spotted me on the auction stage with just a single glance. He pushed through the crowd and walked toward me while calling Leo over to quietly ask how I had ended up on the auction stage. When he heard the answer, his eyes narrowed and he slapped Leo across the face. "Idiot! Did I teach you to do things like this?" Leo held his face and said nothing, but his eyes searched the room. I knew he was looking for Lander. Seeing this, I stopped panicking as I simply relaxed and waited for my dad to come save me. Just like Jillian, my dad immediately recognized his own son with a single glance. I had once thought Jillian would be the person who loved me most in this world other than my dad. Now that I thought about it, my dad was much more reliable than anyone else. Just as my dad was about to reach me, Lander rushed out from nowhere. He bowed, his expression a fawning smile as he greeted my dad. "You must be Boss Rossi. Your reputation precedes
