The air between them was thick, charged with power. Noah’s jaw clenched, but he did not speak.

A few hours back

Alpha Noah left his confrontation with Laurel in a storm of anger, his mood darkened by humiliation and suspicion. He went straight to the boardroom, determined to have control of the crisis that had caused chaos in the company. The Russian order massive and crucial was hanging by a thread. Raw materials had been delayed at sea, and every passing day threatened millions in losses. The board was restless, the pack’s reputation trembling, and Alpha Noah carried the weight of it all on his shoulders.

But just as he was immersed in damage control, a blow struck from another direction. Someone sent him photographs his Luna, Laurel McKinley, dining intimately with their rival. The very man whose interference had worsened the shipment delays now sat across from her, smiling smugly as if mocking Noah’s authority. His wolf growled violently inside him, demanding blood, demanding to rip the rival’s grin from his face. Fury consumed him. To protect the company’s image, he decided Laurel must be kept away, temporarily stripped of her presence in the firm. He was too busy, too enraged, to confront her directly.

The day passed in relentless chaos. Only when he returned home, exhausted, did he allow himself a shower to wash away the day’s turmoil call came from Sherry, his friend informed him that there were updates from suppliers, while he was taking to Sherry his Beta Talon’s mind‑link pierced through his mind. Talon never disturbed him without reason, and Noah opened the link only to hear the words that made his heart pound faster. Laurel had fainted outside the office building, rushed to the ER, and remained there the entire day.

For a moment, worry engulfed his fury. His heart raced, fear surrounded him. But Talon quickly added that she had returned home minutes ago. Relief washed over him only to be replaced by fresh anger. How could something so crucial have happened without his knowledge? Talon confessed that Noah himself had ordered not to be disturbed with wife’s matters during work hours, and later, in the rush of leaving early, he had forgotten to mention it.

Noah’s fury flared again, but he did not dwell on the mistake. He went to find Laurel. The guest room she always used was empty. He searched the villa but she was nowhere to be found. Finally, he opened the security feed on his phone and froze.

There she was, his Luna, carrying her suitcase, placing her set of keys on the table, and walking out of the house without a backward glance.

He was still looking at the footage when his phone buzzed again this time it was his informant who was posted at the airport had informed him that that his wife had boarded a flight and her parents were there to see her off. The words hit him like a blade. For a moment, his mind went blank, his wolf howling inside him, clawing at his chest. She was gone. His Luna, his wife, the woman he had humiliated and silenced, had chosen to leave him without a backward glance.

Panic surged through him, raw and uncontrollable. His heart hammered against his ribs, faster than any battle rush he had ever known. He stormed out of the villa, his aura flaring so violently that the guards shrank back, unwilling to meet his eyes. His wolf growled, torn between rage and fear. How dare she run away?

The car ride to her parents’ house was a blur. His hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly the leather strained, his jaw clenched until it ached.

Present

The silence that followed was heavy, charged with power. Noah’s arrogance flickered, his bravado cracking under the force of a man who had once commanded packs and still carried that authority in his bones. Her father’s eyes burned with determination his daughter’s safety mattered more than any alliance, any company share, any title.

The study’s air was already filled with tense atmosphere when the door swung open. A second aura entered older, wiser but no less commanding. It was Noah’s father, the man who had once fought side by side with Laurel’s father, his closest friend.

“Noah,” his father’s voice was low, carrying disappointment sharper than anger. “Do you even understand what you’ve done? You shame yourself. You shame me. You shame the bond between our families.”

Noah stiffened, his arrogance faltering for a heartbeat. “Father, this is between me and my wife—”

“This is between you and your honor,” his father cut in, stepping forward. His eyes burned with the authority of an Alpha who had seen wars, who had trusted his son to carry the legacy. “I gave you my bloodline, and my best friend gave you his daughter. Together we gave you a place in the human world, a company to prove yourself. And you repaid that trust by humiliating her, by striking her, by throwing her out like she was nothing.”

Laurel’s father stood taller now, his aura pressing against Noah’s like a wall. “You betrayed not only my daughter but the bond between our families. I stood beside you once, as your Beta, as your brother in arms. And now I stand against your son, because he has forgotten what loyalty means.”

Noah’s father turned to his old friend, his voice heavy with regret. “I never thought my son would dishonor your daughter. If he cannot respect the woman who built his world, then he does not deserve the world we gave him.”

Noah’s jaw clenched, his aura flaring in defiance, but the combined presence of his father and Laurel’s father pressed down like a storm. Two men who had once commanded packs now stood united, their bond reformed in defense of Laurel.

“Can you just tell me where I can find her I will go and get her.” Noah pleaded earnestly trying to let go of the humiliation of having to plead with his father in-law for his wife’s whereabouts.

Her father’s voice was final, sharp as steel. “Noah, if you come after her, you will answer not only to me but to the man who raised you. And together, we will break you before you break her again.”

“But I just want to find my wife.” Noah stated as he believed that once Laurel’s cool down everything will be fine like always after all Laurel never held grudges.

“No I won’t tell you about my daughter’s whereabouts she needs sometime away from this mess and I hope you two get divorced when she comes back.” Laurel’s father stated firmly.

The study was heavy with silence, broken only by Laurel’s father’s voice, low but resolute. “Divorce,” he said without any hesitation. He had promised the council, he had promised Noah’s father, but his daughter’s humiliation had left him no choice.

Noah’s aura flared instantly, his eyes narrowing, his voice sharp with rage. “Never. I will never divorce her.” His words were not born of love but of loathing, of fear. “Do you think I don’t know what will happen if she divorces me? That wolf less omega your daughter would hold power over me. Power she does not deserve. I will not allow it.”

Laurel’s father stepped forward, his own aura pressing against Noah’s, the authority of an ex‑Beta. “You already humiliated her, Noah. You abandoned her, you struck her, you dragged her dignity through the mud. Divorce is the only path left. You cannot cage her with your fear.”

Noah’s jaw clenched, his voice rising. “She is nothing without me. Nothing! And yet you all treat her as if she is more. I will not let her walk away with power over me.”

His father’s voice cut him off. “You fear her because you know the truth she is stronger than you, not in wolf’s blood but in spirit. And if you cannot honor her, then you do not deserve her.”

Laurel’s father’s eyes burned with fury, his voice final. “Divorce is the word, Noah. Whether you accept it or not, you will not break her again. If you try, you will answer to both of us.”

The silence that followed was suffocating. Noah’s bravado cracked his retreat inevitable. His father’s disappointment weighed heavier than any threat, and Laurel’s father’s fury was unyielding. The door slammed behind him, leaving the two old friends standing in the study, bound once more not by alliance, but by the vow to protect the daughter who had been wronged.

She was lying in the ER, but he never came to visit her, nor did he send any message of comfort, but here he was talking to his mistress with such intimacy.Every nerve in Laurel’s body tightened as if the house itself had betrayed her; the sound of his voice, soft and intimate, and the way he had never once used it for her felt like a physical blow. She stood frozen in the doorway while the steam flowed out from under the bathroom door, and as the name “Sherry” hung in the air, a small, stiff laugh escaped from her mouth. The ER’s fluorescent lights flashed behind her eyelids: the antiseptic smell of the hospital room and the care that never came. He had left her to count those hours alone, to lie exposed and vulnerable while he chose to be with the very women who had destroyed her. Now, hearing him answer her call with tenderness brought a clear resolve in her mind. She realized, with clarity, that his affection did not matter anymore and she wanted to end it completely. Her chest r

The villa was dark, and the windows were shut, and as expected, no one was waiting for her. What was she even expecting she was lying in the ER for at least ten hours but he never came? Behind her, employees slowed, their eyes filled with pity. The moment Laurel’s access card was denied, the humiliation began to suffocate her. Each failed swipe was not just a rejection of entry but a rejection of her identity as the woman who had built the company’s success. The pitying glances of her employees cut deeper than the mechanical beep of denial. She had poured herself into this firm, and now the board had painted her as negligent, stripping her of everything she had earned.Fury rose in her chest, hot and sharp. She believed that if she could just speak to Noah, if she could explain, he would clear the misunderstanding. That fragile hope was all she carried as she slipped through the underground parking, reporters swarming outside like vultures. She tried to reason with the guard her own employee, whose salary she paid but he
