*This scene takes place just before the epilogue of book 5, ‘The Gamma’s Resilience’, and will serve as one of the first few chapters from this book, ‘The Rise Of The Queen’.

Corinna

I look at the window to check if the coast is clear before I go to the bathroom to do this test. When I hear Elijah’s and Flora’s laughter as they tend to the animals, I decide it’s now or never.

I grab a bottle of water on my way to the bathroom, taking chugs as I walk to fill up my bladder faster.

I bought two different kinds of pregnancy tests at the store earlier today and kept them hidden under my loose hoodie, which has a tie at the bottom, to make sure nothing dropped out.

I go into the bathroom, lock the door behind me, unzip my hoodie, and pull out the tests, sighing as I stare at them.

I can’t believe I’m doing this, but Luna seems to be sure, which is why she has now gone silent on me to focus all her attention on protecting the pup, and because she doesn’t want to hear it from me, as I don’t believe it for various reasons.

Even though no one knows besides Wyatt and his tight inner circle, where Eli and I have been hiding for the past few months, it doesn’t mean we are out of danger, so talk about real wrong fucking timing, because I wouldn’t be able to protect us since Luna is so preoccupied…

‘I heard that!’ She quietly snaps.

‘You were meant to.’ I retort.

‘Just do the damn test, and you will see for yourself, silly human.’ She huffs, rolling her eyes.

I sigh, rubbing my forehead. ‘Luna, we can’t be. We just can’t! I mean, besides the timing, we only had sex once unmarked, and according to Wyatt…’

She softly growls in warning. ‘But you forget who we are, Miss A****n Queen. Sometimes all it takes is once, and he did finish inside us. Just say it, you don’t want this pup, whereas I do. Probably more because this time it’s our fated mate’s pup, and he will protect us and love this pup no matter the gender.’

‘You don’t know that…’ I murmur.

‘No, you don’t! Or refuse to. Either way, just do it!’ She snaps, louder this time, making her presence more known.

‘But what if…we lose it…’ I say, eyes blinking as tears form.

‘Why do you think I’m not around as much? To make sure that doesn’t happen. I’m stronger than ever, and I WILL protect this pup.’ She growls. ‘Just do it.’

I sigh, using my thumb and middle finger to wipe the tears from the corner of my eyes, scrubbing down my face before grabbing the cup from under the cabinet.

I get the phone timer ready, quickly pee into the cup, and stick both tests in before I lose my nerve even more.

I turn on the timer and sit on the toilet, bending over with my hands in my hair, silently throwing up a silent prayer to Selene or Artemis, one of them, both, I don’t even know anymore, that Luna is right if we are indeed pregnant, because I’m torn.

A part of me, which is ruled by Luna’s feelings, feels deliriously excited about having my mate’s pup, but another big part of me is terrified because of everything that is going on.

Not to mention, I cannot lose another child for whatever reason.

That will be the final nail in my personal coffin.

The beeping of my timer makes me look up and heave a big breath.

I feel Luna coming to the forefront as I stand up and look in the mirror. ‘Here we go…’

I see my own eye turn a shade darker as I reach over for the sticks. ‘We can do it, Corinna. We are not the same person we were 5 years ago. We are strong.’ She says, determined.

I hope you’re right, I think to myself as I turn the sticks around.

Goddess, I hope you’re right, Luna, because it would seem you were right about this.

We are pregnant.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“An actual baby Alpha is coming.”
“Or a future Queen.” She proudly says. “Either way, that child is going to be a force to be reckoned with. Are you going to tell him?” She asks as she turns her head to look straight.
I press my lips into a tight line. “I don’t know yet.”
“You still don’t trust him after all this time?”
I shake my head. “Not fully, but more than I did when I first came here.”
She nods, slightly raising one shoulder. “Progress.”
We shall see.
-------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone, and thank you all so so much for reading book 1 of the Tribe series! When I first started writing it, I didn't expect it to become a series, and so I'm going to be doing something different and maybe a little unorthodox. After much thought, I thought it was only fair and right to carry on with Wyatt and Cora's/Corinna's pov of the story, even though it's the last of 8 (yes, 8) books in the timeline/series. They start and end the series, hehe. Basically, just because the other couples decided to get really loud and demanding along the way, they have to wait their turn, haha.
Anywho, with all that said, plus teaser, I'm so excited to start this next part, and let's just say since it's the finale book, A LOT is going to be happening!
If you want to know more, please find me on my socials - Author Katerina M. Davis - and I have a group called - Katerina's Tribe - where I have all sorts of information and where I reveal my exclusive content.
I would like once again to express my profound gratitude to you all for being here and reading my first paranormal book.
The next one is called 'The Rise Of The Queen', and it will start serialising around the 16th of January and the cover has been revealed on my socials :)
See y'all soon!
Lots of love and giggles,
Kat xx
  • The Tribe   Chapter 60 - Gone.
    Freya After pacing, peeking through every blind that faced the direction Oscar disappeared to, and checking the phone he gave me every 5 seconds for any sign, even a tiny piece of news, as if I was a restless possum for the past few hours, I decided it was time.I have no choice but to confront my fears because the deafening silence and the lack of news are too much, so I have to leave the Sanctuary. My anxiety and worry for my brothers has officially overridden my fear of the outside. After all, they’re all I have now. I may not have known Evan long, but he’s Oscar’s fated mate, and that makes him family. Also, from the little I know of him and what I’ve witnessed, he’s nothing like my other brothers. Some of the other women who live here saw me nervously fidgeting by the door and said that if I could wait an hour or so, they would drop me off at Tess's, since it’s the same route to the diner, which made me breathe a sigh of relief. Since we can’t shift, we had to walk about 10
  • The Tribe   Chapter 59 - Disappear Safely.
    Corinna After waking and dressing Elijah in the darkest clothing he had, I made us something quick and easy to eat to keep us sustained for the long journey ahead. While we were eating, he asked why I had woken him up in the middle of the night. I vaguely explained why, and surprisingly, he didn’t contest it, much to my relief. He knows about his father, not the full details, but I told him enough that he’s aware that he and others from those packs are bad guys and, Goddess forbid, if any of them come near him, he knows not to trust and, if possible, to run as fast and far as he can. Probably why it wasn’t much of a surprise to him that I suddenly announced we had to go. Over the years, he thankfully hasn’t asked many questions about Xander, which I’m thankful for, but the few times he has, I chose not to lie about who he is. I told him that this is why I have gone by many different names, and that he also has various last names, but because of his age, he remembers only two. The
    Sofia “First of all, Anne, I’m all the above. Luna, you already know, so no point in explaining that, but like the other ladies you see over there.” I gesture with my hand to them. “I, too, was born an Amazon, and I am a wolf shifter. My rank within the Tribe is High Priestess because I have the gift of Foresight, meaning I have visions from the past, present, and, most importantly, the future. To put it in your terms, I am the Beta of my Tribe. ’Oracle’ or ‘Seer’ came from the humans when they were in the temples, and it stuck.” I explain, shrugging my shoulders.I see from the corner of my eye Anne opening her mouth, but I stop her with my finger, smirking because I know what she was about to ask. “Back in ancient times, specifically Ancient Greece, when humans believed in deities, we worked in temples as ‘Seers’.” I use my fingers for quotations. “People came seeking blessings, atonements, or prophecies, believing they came from their Gods,” I say casually, shrugging one shoulder
  • The Tribe   Chapter 57 - Twisted Tale.
    Wyatt Ever since the strange woman entered the room, Axel pushed himself to the forefront and stayed there, on alert, pacing back and forth in my head while we watched her command the room with gentle poise and dignity. She also takes no bullshit, judging by how she put Cora’s supposed mother in her place with just her words and how she interacted with Gabriel.A part of me wanted to intervene since that’s her mother, and I was going to when she asked Gabe to command her, but he held me back, saying that it’s not my place and that this Sofia always has her reasons for doing something. I silently scoffed, and for some reason, that whole scene with Noah, then her interactions with Gia, made me feel weird. Why is she acting like this with them but not me? Wait, am I jealous?I rotate my neck, cracking it in the process, to hide my shaking my head because that’s fucking bullshit. I’m a grown ass man, and I have a mate whom I adore, and yet, something about her feels familiar, which i
  • The Tribe   Chapter 56 - Start At The Beginning.
    Sofia I stand with my hands on my hips in the middle of the hallway after leaving Cora’s apartment for a much-needed breather. I need a moment to brace myself for what I am about to walk into, and with my senses slowly returning, it’s slightly overwhelming. Still, I never thought it would be possible after what happened, so I will happily take the blurred vision and the twitchy nose.My eyes stop at the door I just came out of, and I let out a sigh. I don’t like or agree with what she’s planning to do as it’s a massive risk, but I also understand where she’s coming from. She’s had a lot thrown at her in a very short space of time, plus with her PTSD, which I possibly made worse by taking her back, keeping her here by force would probably do more damage to her psyche. And that’s a risk I am not willing to take, as I do believe that once she comes to terms with how she is, she, along with her mate, will be the powerhouse we need to end this bullshit. I pray I’m doing the right thing
