Rieka

I stared at the dark, log ceiling as Seth and Amar slept soundly. My mind raced as I listened to the white noise of the box fan, dreading the moment that Seth's alarm would go off. I had gotten the best night's sleep lying next to him over the weekend, but now I thought too much for my body to relax.

The past couple of days were nothing more than a blur. Amid my emotional roller-coaster ride, I decided to be honest with myself and move into the packhouse. This is where I belong. Whether or not it was safe to be here was the real question. I didn't worry about my own safety, but the safety of everyone else weighed heavily on my mind. I had only been here for a couple of days, and Jo, Jay, Waya, and Amar were almost killed right along with Gram. And it wasn't even because Dis found me. It was because of stupid petty high school bullshit that was taken to the demon level.

When Mia and Izzy told Ron and Bet what was going on, they were oddly upset hearing what happened to Gram

Rieka "Thanks for helping out with barn chores. I know the girls appreciate having a day off," I said to Mia and Izzy as we started cleaning up from feeding the horses. "You really don't have to thank us. They're our responsibility as well," Izzy replied as she swept the walkway. "So, now that chores are done and it's safe to say we're all alone, what was it like?" Mia asked, her brown eyes showing her giddiness. It's been so crazy that this is the first alone time the three of us have had in a while, and Mia was eager to hear the dirty details. "I .... well ...... it was better than I thought it would be, but ...." I hesitated as I felt the heat move to my cheeks. "Messy," Izzy said, finishing my sentence. "YES! But it wasn't just because of him," I replied, almost embarrassed to say it out loud. Mia gasped as she pulled the empty feed buckets from the stalls. "Rhi, are you a squirter?!" I completely avoided eye contact as I quietly took the buckets from her and ad

Rieka I let Amar out of the truck as soon as we got back to the packhouse, and the gray son of a bitch took off running to who knows where with the knife still in his mouth. I called for him, but he completely ignored me like I was nothing. Nice recall, prick. I heard a giggle from the packhouse porch as I stared at the fading dog in disbelief. "That's one hell of a guardian. He always did take after Julia," Sylvia said with a smirk as she made her way down the stairs, her long blue patterned skirt flowing in the breeze and jewelry clinking together like a delicate wind chime as she moved. Seth chuckled as he walked over to join Sylvia and I on my side of the truck. A frustrated sigh passed through my lips as I turned to look at the tiny brownies and bean-tighes that were still waiting in the truck. "You can make yourselves at home. There's more than enough room for all of you," I said as I held my hand out towards the packhouse. "I'm happy to see that they left Julia's ca

RiekaA few days have passed since the meeting. It's been a week since Gram has been gone. A whole week for me to find the courage to ask Seth to drive me over so that I could see her cabin for myself and collect her belongings. I could have done it myself, but in all honesty, I didn't trust my emotions, and Seth was the only other one I knew Gram was actually close to. I looked at the scenery from the passenger window of the truck as Seth drove us over to Gram's cabin. "Thank you," I whispered. "What for? Driving you over here?" Seth asked me. I looked at Seth and wondered how I got so lucky with him. "Well, that's only part of it. You've been extremely busy planning the trip to the water fairies and the meeting with your allies on top of your regular job and Alpha duties. Despite all that, you've been so extremely patient with me from the very beginning. Most Alphas would have forced things by now, but not you. Not even when I'm sleeping next to you. My friends and I have tu

Rieka She's gone. Seth's words repeated in my mind as I felt my heart tighten inside my chest. After everything we had just been through, not just this weekend, but the entire summer. After staying away while I bonded with Lupa and ensured the vampire venom hid my energy .... Gram can't be gone. She's just missing ..... But deep down, I knew better. I fell to the floor as my world spun around me, and I closed my eyes as I started to hyperventilate. Seth and Amar quickly came over to try to comfort me. Amar nuzzled his head deep in my lap while Seth wrapped his arms around my shoulders and held me tightly. How could this happen? And then it hit me, Timophy's voice saying that he and Laura weren't the only ones. I had been so preoccupied with everything else that I had completely forgotten ..... how could I forget?! This is my fault .... "Breathe, Rhi. Slow, deep breaths," Lupa calmly instructed, and I did my best to obey. "I'm so sorry, I wish that I were here under diff

Julia I had to admit, it was actually lonely without having Amar around. He had been in my life for so many years. He may not have always been a weimaraner, as he would change breeds to keep up with the times, but he was always around all the same. After I woke up, I opened all of the windows in my little cabin, poured myself a cup of coffee, and sat at the kitchen table to enjoy the sunrise through the window. Normally, I would sit down on the front porch, enjoying the aroma of my herb gardens as the sun graced us with his presence, but not today. Today was different. Today, I needed to stay inside. As the sun started to make itself known, painting the sky with beautiful colors, an old saying popped into my mind. "Pink sky in morning, sailors warning ...." I said before taking a long sip of my coffee. "You boys have no fucking clue what you're doing, do you?" I asked as I looked at the reflections of the three demon boys in the window before taking another sip of coffee. They
