Maeve

I could tell by the familiar feeling that I was lying on my own bed, and though I was relieved to be back in the present, the sharp throbbing pain in my head made the whispers that I heard sound ten times louder than they were.

"What in Goddess' name did the four of you think you were doing exactly, anyway?!?" Uncle Seth asked in an angry, whispered tone.

My head throbbed with every word I heard.

Jackie immediately snapped back. "We were trying to figure out what the hell is going

Cordelia The three of us were sitting at my small kitchen table. Harlee was to my right, and Officer MacIntyre was sitting across from me. I tried not to stare at him during the awkward silence between us, the only sound being that of the coffee pot brewing. Harlee and I could have really used some alcohol, but we both figured we should at least hear him out before we started drinking the day away. Harlee started tapping her fingers on the table, clearly fed up that no one was discussing the pink elephant in the room. "So, are you going to tell us what you meant? Or are we just going to continue to sit here awkwardly?" Officer MacIntyre sighed as he took off his hat, dropped it in the center of the table, leaned back in his chair, and rubbed his knuckles across his jaw. "How about maybe we start with names? I'm Micah MacIntyre. My friends use my middle name, Lorne, to avoid all of the Ms. And you are ....." Harlee rolled her eyes. "I'm Harlee tell-me-what-the-fuck-is-going-o

  • The True Elemental Luna   Chapter 4 - What Were You Thinking

Isabella No one ever warned Mia and I that coming back to the coven was essentially like taking on a full-time babysitting job. Scratch that, it's worse. And a little heads up before we got here would have been swell.Everyone here is at least a hundred years old, yet Mia and I still have to ensure they all abide by the code and that order is upheld. At their age, they should all know better. Should being the key word in that sentence. After our grandparents took their own lives and requested that Mia and I take over, Grandma's brother Xander, his wife Stephanie, and our parents did the best they could while Mia and I stayed at Gypsy Rain to raise Layla, Freya, and Falco .... but once we moved back, there were a lot of loose ends to take care of. And most importantly, respect to be earned. Mia and I simply didn't have the respect that those older than us had, and it didn't help who our mates were. The looks we received from the old school purists were infuriating. We knew they were d

Cordelia "I can't believe she actually talked me into this," I murmured to my reflection in the window of the building I had just exited. What was I thinking .... During breakfast, Harlee received a call for a job interview. I don't know how the hell that woman managed to get an interview mere hours after quitting the studio, but she did. And as soon as we were done with breakfast, she managed to convince me to get my hair colored while she was at, get this, the mortuary. I can't make this shit up. I kept staring at the bright colors. Maybe this is similar to what they call breakup hair .... only mine would be get fired from my shitty job hair. "Cordee!" Harlee's voice called my name from behind me, her face lighting up as soon as I turned around and she saw my hair. "Why do I fucking listen to you?!" I asked her as I pointed to my head. "Because it's beautiful!" she replied with a huge grin. I gave Harlee a deadpan look. "It's blue, green, and purple ....." Harlee

  • The True Elemental Luna   Chapter 2 - Dime a Dozen

Cordelia As soon as I got home, I started another pot of coffee, then decided to take a long hot shower. I may not have been physically dirty, but once I stepped foot outside that building, the realization that I had actually allowed myself to be treated like nothing more than a pretty face for two years of my life just for money made me feel pretty disgusted with myself. It would have been different if that's what I wanted, but it wasn't. I wanted more. I finally got out when the water started to cool, dried off, wrapped the towel around my body, and stared at myself in the mirror, trying to figure out what my next move in life would be. I've always been good at adjusting to things, no matter what happened. As if that shit job wasn't proof of that alone, I also grew up in the foster system. When I was just a baby, I was taken away from my drug-addicted mother, and no one knew who my father was. Since I didn't have any actual family members to take me in, and no one wanted to

Cordelia beep beep beep beep I was sitting at the kitchen table by the double glass doors that led out to the back porch, trying to read the news on my phone and enjoy my cup of coffee before I had to go to work. beep beep beep beep However, it doesn't sound like that's going to happen anytime soon. beep beep beep beep I closed my eyes and moaned as I took another sip of the warm, black nectar of the gods. One more fucking .... beep beep beep beep I walked over to my roommate's bedroom door and flung it open. "Damn it, Harlee! Wake up and turn that fucking thing off!" I yelled into the dark room. A groan escaped her mouth as she reached over, grabbed her cell phone, and turned off her alarm. "It's not my fault that it's the only sound that wakes me up in the morning," she said groggily. Thanks to the room being pitch black, she couldn't see me roll my eyes. "It doesn't even succeed at doing that. What it does do, however, is piss me the fuck off first thing in the

Falco "FALCO! Turn on your TV!" Freya's voice echoed in my bedroom, startling me out of my deep, peaceful slumber. I immediately sat straight up, reaching over to make sure that Rory was still next to me. Freya flipped my bedroom lights on, and I let out a growl as Rory and I were blinded by the sudden light. "Seriously!?" Rory grumbled loudly as she pulled the blankets over her head. "It's too fucking early for this!" "Oh, my Goddess!" Freya gasped. "I'm so sorry, I didn't know ....."She wasn't sorry. The grin on her face told me she was thrilled to be the first to find out about Rory and I finally getting together. "Ever think of knocking?" I asked my sister in a placid tone as I glared at her. Freya crossed her arms over her chest and raised an eyebrow as she met my glare with one of her own. "Ever think of locking your door?" I glanced over at Rory and our eyes met as she peeked out from under the blankets. I couldn't help but smile. It's safe to say that no, I
