Daphne's POV

I didn’t sleep much that night. The words from the letter kept circling in my head, a merciless chant that would not quiet: *Expect us in three days’ time.*

Three days.

By dawn, I was already sitting on the edge of my bed, my hands clasped together so tightly my knuckles turned white. I wanted to believe Oliver’s words — that I was ready, that everything would be fine — but my heart thudded against my ribs in frantic protest. Writing Daisy’s parents a letter had been one thing. Facing them, speaking to them, looking them in the eyes and pretending I was their daughter… that was something else entirely.

When Brittany entered my room that morning, she wasted no time on pleasantries. She set down a tray of tea and a notebook on my desk, her eyes sharp as ever.

“Up,” she ordered. “We have little time and much to do.”

I obeyed, pulling myself together though my limbs felt like lead.

Brittany began with posture. “Daisy holds her shoulders back but not rigidly. Like so.” She de

  • The Twin's Secret: A Billionaire's Tempting Proposal   Chapter 134: To no avail

Xavier's POV My breath fogged lightly against the mask clinging to my face. Sweat trickled beneath the disguise, the guard’s uniform already clinging uncomfortably to my skin. I had scoured every inch of Oliver’s estate that I could manage without drawing too much suspicion—corridors, studies, guest rooms, even the children’s quarters—but nothing. Nothing that resembled Daisy. Nothing that smelled of her perfume. Nothing that hinted at a living body being kept hidden away. The silence in those rooms had been maddening. Every door I opened with care, every shadow I slipped past had promised me some revelation, some glimpse of truth. Yet all I found were perfectly made beds, locked drawers, polished floors. A house spotless, almost too spotless, as though it had been scrubbed clean of secrets. And still, I couldn’t shake the feeling that she was here. Somewhere.I returned to the corridor by the servant’s quarters, footsteps silent on the marble floor. Clara was there, just as I’d inst

  • The Twin's Secret: A Billionaire's Tempting Proposal   Chapter 133:The Search

Daphne's POV The night air clung heavy to my skin as I pulled the brim of my cap lower over my brow. The disguise was simple but effective—a faded uniform jacket, dark slacks, and a messenger’s satchel slung across my chest. Enough to pass for a late-night courier or some stray worker who’d wandered too close. My heart, however, pounded with the force of a drumline. Tonight wasn’t just another scheme.Tonight I would finally step into Oliver’s fortress and see for myself what he had done with Daisy. The streets outside his mansion buzzed faintly with activity—cars lining the curb, voices muffled with laughter and music drifting from within. The party was in full swing, perfect cover for my mission. I kept to the shadows, skirting the front gates until I reached the unguarded stretch of fence at the back. Christine’s voice still echoed in my mind from earlier, urging caution, asking what exactly I hoped to achieve. But my mind had been made up long before. I wouldn’t rest until I knew

Xavier's POV The moment Clara’s voice cut off and the line went dead, Christine’s eyes shot to me like burning daggers. Her impatience was boiling over, but I could tell she was waiting for me to say something first. The silence in the room was thick, charged, and humming with possibility.“Call her back,” I said flatly, my voice calm but edged with command.Christine blinked at me, her brows furrowed. “Why? She already told us everything.”I leaned back on the leather chair, fingers steepled together, staring into nothing for a moment before I shifted my gaze toward her. “No, Christine. She only told us the surface. The details—the useful ones—are what matter most. Clara is a tool, and we haven’t used her properly yet.”Her lips pressed into a thin line, but she didn’t argue. She snatched the phone from the table, dialed the number quickly, and pressed it on speaker. Clara picked up after only two rings, her voice cautious, almost nervous.“Hello? Madam Christine?”“Yes, Clara,” Chr

  • The Twin's Secret: A Billionaire's Tempting Proposal   Chapter 131: The confirmation

Christine's POV I had just settled into the lounge chair of Xavier’s apartment, glass of wine in my hand, when my phone buzzed against the polished glass table. At first, I ignored it, assuming it was another pointless notification. But when I glanced at the screen and saw Clara’s name flash across it, I nearly dropped the glass.Clara never called unless it was important. My heart leapt in my chest, and a slow, cold excitement rippled through me.“Finally,” I whispered, and pressed "accept."I didn’t bother greeting her. Instead, I immediately put the phone on loudspeaker and gestured for Xavier, who was perched by the window scrolling through his tablet, to come closer.“It’s Clara,” I mouthed. He raised an eyebrow, set his tablet aside, and leaned in, his sharp gaze locked on the phone as though he could burn through the screen with sheer will.Clara’s voice came through, low but urgent. "Ma’am… I have information.”I leaned forward, pressing my elbow to my knee, my entire body al

  • The Twin's Secret: A Billionaire's Tempting Proposal   Chapter 130

Daphne's POV The morning had come too quickly. From the moment I opened my eyes, my stomach was in knots, twisting with dread that only grew sharper as the minutes ticked by. Today was the day—Daisy’s parents were arriving. The day I had been hoping would never come, at least not this soon.I could hear Oliver in his study speaking low into the phone. His voice carried that calm authority he always wore like armor, but I knew him enough by now to hear the subtle strain under it. Daisy’s father, no doubt, confirming their arrival time and airport. Every syllable I caught through the half-closed door was a reminder that my lies were about to be tested in the cruelest way possible.By noon, the sun was bright and merciless outside, casting long rays across the polished floors as if the house itself were bracing for inspection. I had spent far too long standing in front of the mirror, trying to adjust my hair, smoothing nonexistent wrinkles on the pale blue dress Oliver had chosen for me
