Chapter 3

Author: Snail
My gaze was icy as if I was looking at two strangers. The look in my eyes didn’t sit well with Kaden.

“Blake’s talking to you. Are you deaf? Talia, the fact that you’re my mate doesn’t give you the right to act out.”

Samantha emerged from behind Kaden and Blake with a pup in his arms. She snapped the brothers a pouty look before reprimanding, “Don’t be rough to she-wolves. You need to be gentle.”

She nodded at me, adopting an air of sweet understanding.

“Don’t get upset with them. They are never the type to be sweet to she-wolves. I’ve told them off so many times before.”

The brothers kept their heads down in compliance like two tame pups.

“Alright. We’ll let it slide this time. We won’t make an issue out of it.

“If you and Lucia wish to keep the Luna title, you’d better stop the fits. You should take lessons from Samantha on how to be a gracious Luna.”

I shook my head, my voice raspy and low.

“I could care less about being a Luna.

“If Samantha is doing a great job, she’s welcome to take my place.

“Please leave. I’d like to spend this last bit of time with my sister.”

Kaden could not believe his ears.

“What are you talking about, Talia? What has Samantha ever done to you? Why do you and your sister have it out for her?”

Blake was furious.

“Where is Lucia? How long is she going to stay in hiding? Is she not going to stop you from running your mouth?”

“Lucia is dead! She’s gone!” I broke down and cried while pointing at Lucia’s ashes.

“She’s there. I lost my pup too. I’ll be dead along with them in two days.”

Blake stopped dead and glared at the urn containing Lucia’s ashes in disbelief.

“What did you say? Lucia’s dead? That’s impossible.”

He reached his hand out shakily to touch the container nestled among the roses.

However, Samantha was one step ahead of him.

She snatched the urn, pried the lid off, then dumped the charred bone fragments and ashes out.

“This is bogus. It’s not our custom to practice cremation.

“Why did Lucia’s remains turn black anyway?

“I bet they dug up the bones of some mutt to fake it.”

I dropped to my knees with a shriek while desperately saving what was left of my sister.

Samantha’s foot came down hard on my hand before I could get close to the ashes.

The charred remains were pulverized into grit under Samantha’s heel.

Samantha stomped out the last trace of Lucia right before my eyes.

“There. Now, you can’t pass these bone fragments of a mutt as hers.”

Blake glanced at the ashes on the floor in disgust.

“Talia, we see right through you and your sister’s little games.

“We won’t put up with your behavior anymore.

“The Blood Rite of Samantha’s pup will take place the day after tomorrow. Consider this your final chance.”

He looked up at me callously.

“You and Lucia will perform a blessing on the pup as Lunas.

“Enough with the tantrums, or Kaden and I will strip your titles away.”

With that, Blade and Kaden held Samantha and escorted her out with utmost care.

Blood burst through my lips as I coughed violently. Pieces of my shattered insides spilled out with the blood, splattering across the ashes on the ground.

Not even stopping to wipe the blood, I gathered Lucia’s remains through my tears.

As I worked, blood dropped from my eyes, nose, and ears.

I knew that it was the silver poison at work. I wouldn’t live to see another day.

How would our mates react if they found out that Lucia, my pup, and I were dead?

All at once, I was overcome by a sense of calm.

After retrieving Lucia’s ashes, I arrived at the Dark Forest and located the most beautiful final resting place.

Alden then turned to Blake. “Your mate drove the car into my father, killing herself along with him. “I don’t blame her. She was only trying to protect her sister. “The Cassa Pack has mad respect for heroes, so her act earned our admiration.“But I won’t forgive this vile she-wolf who went out of her way to harm other werewolves.” While talking, Alden tightened his grip, choking Samantha until her eyes rolled to the back of her head. Having grasped the news, the Alpha brothers froze. It never occurred to them that abduction was real and premeditated by the one she-wolf they trusted. With the truth laid bare right in front of them, they broke down. “Samantha, why would you do this?” Samantha knew by the cruel nature of the question that the Alpha brothers would not have her back anymore. As regret seeped in, she pleaded for mercy. “Don’t kill me. I didn’t mean to kill your father. I was just using him to get rid of those annoying sisters.” Turning to Blake and K

Alden burst out laughing as if he had heard the most ridiculous thing. “My father’s defeat is such a disgrace. To think he lost to you imbeciles. Then again, the Luther Pack’s days are numbered with you as their Alphas.” Blake and Kaden grimaced and refuted without thinking, “What are you talking about? Samantha couldn’t possibly harm our mates. We grew up together. She’s kind, sweet, and innocent. Stop with the false accusations!” Hovering in the air, I observed everything callously. With the Alpha brothers standing by Samantha without hesitation, my lifeless heart pulsed with dull pain. Due to their puphood bond, the Alpha brothers took Samantha’s side without question. Even when Samantha’s manipulations of Lucia and me were plain as day, the brothers never once doubted her. Blake and Kaden never believed me or Lucia. Even with every werewolf confirming our deaths, they would not accept the truth. Alden scoffed and pressed the gun barrel hard against Samantha’s neck.

Even Kaden’s voice wavered in fear. “So the pregnant she-wolf refused to remove the stillborn pup? What do you mean she didn’t make it?” “She was shot with silver bullets. “The Alpha of the Cassa Pack shot her multiple times, and the pup she was carrying didn’t survive. “The healer advised that she wouldn’t have more than three days to live unless she had her deceased pup taken out.” With a loud clatter, Kaden dropped the papers all across the floor. “Was it Talia? No! That’s impossible. If she was abducted, why didn’t she reach out to me?” Kaden started to panic, his voice now frantic and full of distress. “The pregnant she-wolf tried to mindlink her mate at least eight times, but all attempts failed. In the end, her mate cut off the link completely.” The patrol captain, knowing the full details of the incident, did not hide the disdain on his face. “I can’t believe we have a heartless pack member among us. The pregnant she-wolf wouldn’t name him, or I would’ve ar

My soul grew more transparent. Eventually, I found myself drifting listlessly in the air, staring vacantly into Lucia’s room. ‘Where have you gone, Lucia? I miss you. When are you coming to take me away?’ With Samantha moving into the Alpha brothers’ property, she acted like the absolute lady of the estate, ordering the servants around in Lucia’s and my absence. She ripped out the lilies my sister planted and replaced them with lavish moonlight roses.Samantha auctioned off the fine ornaments in the house and pocketed all the sale proceeds while hanging the walls with her amateur artworks. “I want to expose my pup to art early. I’ve put away the cold, soulless decoration pieces.” Blake and Kaden were on board with Samantha’s idea. They took the time to purchase paintings of renowned artists from various places and hung them in the main hall. Samantha took these art pieces and exchanged them for cash in mere days. Hung up over Lucia’s and my disappearance, Blake and Kaden

Kaden rushed to hold Samantha, whispering reassuring words. “No werewolf is more important than you. Your pup has the right to rule the Luther Pack as an Alpha.” Samantha put her hand over her lips to hide her smug grin. “Don’t say that. Lucia and Talia are your Lunas.” Blake scoffed. “If they keep up with their antics, they won’t be Lunas much longer. I’d love to see when they will quit the drama.” With a frown, Kaden did not concur with Blake’s comments for once. Instead, he gave the Beta a call. “Look into the werewolf from the Council. Did Lucia and Talia bribe him? Check and find out if there are any recent events concerning the Cassa Pack.”He could not shake off an unsettling feeling that things were spiraling out of his control. Samantha gently rocked the pup in her arms, her brows furrowed. “The pup is hungry. I need to give him a bath today. I don’t think I can handle this on my own.” Swallowing his rising apprehension, Kaden told the butler to send for

Blake and Kaden froze, unable to process what they had just heard. Samantha, on the other hand, let out a soft sigh. “I remember you. You’re Cameron Kwik, aren’t you?” She read out the name on Cameron’s work tag and made up a story. “You’re good friends with Talia, right? “We saw her drinking yesterday. She looked fine, not hurt at all. “It’s not right of you to lie for her.” Cameron refuted in displeasure, “What are you talking about? I’ve only met her once, and things were nothing like you’ve claimed.” Unfazed in the face of the rebuttal, Samantha uttered in a gentle voice, “But you said Talia lost her pup, but she was still carrying the last time we checked.“How do you expect us to believe your lies?” “I’m not lying. Her belly is swollen because—” “That’s enough! I believe Talia and Lucia sent you here to ruin the event. They can’t stand to see Samantha happy!” Kaden’s outburst cut Cameron off from spilling the truth. Blake summoned security in an icy voic
