Chapter 24: I don't want anything public

"I accept your offer," she said as soon as the call connected and the corners of Nick's lips curled upwards

"Good girl," he said

"Once your mother's condition is stable, we will get married," he said

"What!" she exclaimed

"Why?" she asked wondering why he wants to marry her that fast.

Her mother and sister are all she has and from what he is saying, this marriage will be done by just the two of them. Her mother will still be at the hospital and her sister would not be present either even if she wanted her to.

"I don't want anything public," he replied

"I only want the law as a witness," he added

"Nick, what is going on? Why the sudden decision and why like this?" she asked and briefly looked to see if her mother was still sleeping.

Seeing she was still sleeping, she exited the room and stood behind the door to continue her call.

"I let you go once and I am doing it again, now that I found you," he replied sounding like he was yearning to be with her
