A few years later…
With the children all grown up and making life horrible for both mother and father always constantly fighting.
The doorbell rang one Saturday morning.
Zhi Rou walked over to open it and saw the courier with a bouquet of flowers. She signed for it and walked in while she yelled, “Yuan Rui! You have a gift.”
He walked down the steps with his phone in his hands and looked at her, confused. “Flowers? From who?”
She shrugged and handed him the flowers and crossed her hands the moment he took them. He looked around for the card and peaked at his wife, who had a frown. Placing the flowers down, he opened the envelope and took the card out.

Yuan Rui gazed around the living room and saw that there were paintings resting against the walls. He wheeled over and looked at them. Picking up the first painting, he saw that it depicted beautiful scenery. The nearer clouds in the sky were dark grey with a purple undertone, and the ones in the distance were lighter, changing from blue to purple. The sky was lit up by bright purple lightning, with some streaks bright white streaks enhancing the effect. On the ground were pinkish-purple roses with dark green leaves and stems. The ground itself was hidden by the flowers and grass that grew but there was a clear path down the middle as though one had walked through it paring the roses.
