I hadn’t actually ever been nervous for patrol before. Well, not at least since the first time I ever did it. I ran my first patrol with my dad and Beta Mark. We had shifted just before sundown, ran for hours in wolf-form, and it was amazing. I had never looked back. Patrol was a pack obligation that I really enjoyed fulfilling. It felt like the most natural part of being in the pack, really. At least until the Sacred Call.
Except for tonight, I wasn’t looking forward to it at all. Not that I didn’t mind a challenge. But something was just so… unsettling, about Justin.
