FAZER LOGINJolene
By night fall I was already dressed for the rituals.
Everyone was expected to be in a white dress with pearls and our family name tattooed on our hands. Jasper did mine this afternoon after the the graduation and it's hurts like hell.
My white dress hugged softly at my waist while the skirt flowed around my legs. Ma had curled my hair earlier despite my complaints to have it as it was.
"You look beautiful,"she whispered while fixing a strand behind my ear.
"Thanks, Ma."
Dad drove us to the place the ceremony was being held. The sacred ground behind the pack house.
The sacred ground looked amazing tonight with all the beautiful ritual ornaments hanging at the corner.
The air smelled like earth, smoke and pine. And wolves with their distinct smell. Almost the entire pack was here to celebrate us.
My eyes drifted across the crowd automatically.
Searching for him.
Then I saw him. Seth. Looking like God among us.
And suddenly everything else seems to have disappeared.
He stood beside his parents, the Alpha and Luna, dressed entirely in black while speaking to them. He looked older now.Sharper, taller, more built muscles, broader shoulders and stronger even.
His once messy teenage features had changed into something devastatingly handsome.
My breath caught in my throat as I stared at him.
I watched as his parents talk to him, raising their hands and he was doing same.
I need to look away but I couldn't,Jess broke me out of my trance.
"Jo. Let's go. The priestess is about begin the ceremony" she said from beside me.
I don't remember the time she even got here.
I turned and looked at her,her eyes flickered to her parents and Seth, then they hardened. She looked worried and upset at the same time.
"Is everything okay?" I asked
"I don't know. But it will be soon" she said and gives me an apologitic look.
"Okay"
Soon we were all gathered in the sacred water and the ceremony began. It took two hours of incantation and dancing before it was completed. It was anything painful, the only part was pack's crest being created on their back.
But all the same,it was a successful ceremony.
Now everyone is at the after party, congratulations from strangers and families, people are finding their mates.
Warriors drank and laughed around the bonfires.
I mingled for a while, greeting pack members and accepting congratulations until the place became overwhelming.
"I’ll be back. I need a breather" I told Jessica who was sipping her wine.
She looked distracted. “Okay.”
I slipped away from the crowd toward the quieter side of the pack house, needing a second to breathe.
I walked into the pack house, not knowing my destination and just kept walking.
Once I got to the hallway,a scent stopped me. It's something I've never smelled before.
Sweet. Coconut and Rainfall.
Completely intoxicating.
My entire body froze.
Kaita,my wolf, suddenly becomes agitated, howling and scratching to go look for the scent.
Mate.
The word echoed through my entire head and body and soul.
My breathing became uneven as need to find him completely took over.
I followed the scent through the hallway into the big patio. I stopped in my tracks.
Then I saw him.
Seth stood several feet away near the small pond In front of the patio, completely still.
His gray eyes glowed faintly gold.
Shock covered his face.No.
No fucking way!
I was fuckin right as always.
Seth freaking King is my fucking mate.
His chest rose heavily as he stared at me like the world had just shifted beneath his feet.
And then at the exact same time,we both whispered the words...
“Mate.”
We stared at each other for quite a while. No one said anything. Only staring at each other.
"You...you are my mate" I asked,it more of a question then a statement.
He only kept looking at me,his jaw clenched and his hands in a fist.
"Wow...I can't,I can't believe it. You are my mate,my best friend's brother. Th guy I have loved since my teenage years was my mate" I smiled, finally having the confidence to say everything.
He still doesn't move. This is not how I expected it to be like but I at least a hug will do.
I stepped closer, walking towards him.
He then finally raised his hands to stop me.
"Don't come any further. This was a mistake. The moon goddess might have made a mistake" he said
I stopped in my tracks, stunned at his words
"What..... are you talking about?" I asked
"I....I Seth King, future alpha of crove pack, reject you Jolene Fall as my mate and future Luna" he says.
It was as if the ground has been pulled off my feet and someone has shoot me straight into my heart.
I immediately fall on my knees, finding it difficult to breathe.
"What. ...no...no...you can't do this. You can't reject me. I won't accept your rejection" I cried, allowing the tears fall.
"You have to. I don't love you. I can't have someone weak and pathetic as you as my mate. Accept it Jolene" he said, his voice changing a bit.
"I refuse. You can't hurt me like this. Please..I'm begging you" I pleaded.
" Accept it little wolf"his voice had completely changed.
I knew it as his wolf, Vallum is the one speaking.
My heart hurt,my head is pounding,my mate doesn't want me anymore.
"I...I..I..I Jolene Falls, accept your rejection" I said and I felt something break within me.
I know he felt it too because he winces.
After what seem like eternity,my wolf was howling and wailing, asking why he rejected us. I don't know why.
"Don't ever mention this to anyone" he says coldly and walked away.
Leaving me hurting and broken.
After while,I walked to the ceremony grounds, standing behind the trees,I can't let the others see my disgrace.
Everyone had gathered at one side,an then the Alpha and Luna were standing on the terrace, beside them was Jess,Seth and a woman I didn't recognize from around here.
"My people, today we have come here to celebrate the good news of this family. My son Seth, has finally found his mate in the human world, she is going to be intiated into the pack and she'll become your Luna. They are also expecting the future heir of this pack. Cheers to future Alpha and Luna......."
I couldn't listen to it anymore. Everything had become a blur... I couldn't breathe.
He rejected me for someone else. She is expecting his baby.
I can't stay here anymore.
I immediately shifted into my wolf form and dashed into the bushes.
I ran until I got to th back boarder. I took one look at the pack before turning back and running forward with one word in my mind and hate.
I hate you Seth King.
Jolene The name hit me like ice water. JoleneI froze mid-step, the air suddenly too thick to breathe. Jolene Falls. The girl who was never meant to be my mate. The one I’d rejected without a backward glance all those years ago. My chest tightened painfully. Jessica,my little sister, couldn’t stop talking about how happy she was to have her best friend back. Mad at first, sure, but they were working through it. And Aurora? She wouldn’t shut up about ‘Miss Falls this’ and ‘Miss Falls that.’ The clay wolves, the stories at circle time, how she helped with the dress tonight.Cal watched me carefully. “Yeah. She’s back in Crove. Been teaching at the school for a bit now. Aurora’s completely taken with her.”I sank back into my chair, staring at the photo again but seeing something else entirely. Jolene. Back after seven years. The girl who used to blush every time I walked into a room in high school. I’d thought it was just a stupid crush back then, harmless, fleeting. Then the mate bond s
SethThe evening light had long since faded from the windows of my office, leaving the room bathed in the warm glow of a single desk lamp. I sat in the heavy leather chair, a glass of whiskey in my hand, the ice long melted into a watery amber. My thumb traced the edge of the silver frame on the desk, the photograph that always pulled me under.Aurora’s second birthday. She was perched on my shoulders, tiny hands tangled in my hair, her laughter frozen mid-bubble. Kaira stood beside us, one arm wrapped around my waist, her head tilted back in that carefree way she had when the world felt light. Her smile lit up the whole damn picture. It was one of the last truly happy moments before everything turned dark. Before the weight of the pack, the endless responsibilities, and then the sudden, cruel emptiness two years ago.I took another slow sip, the burn sliding down my throat but doing nothing to loosen the knot in my chest. Some memories you cling to because forgetting would be worse t
Jolene At the school gymnasium, the decorations were simple but sweet, twinkling lights, paper lanterns, and a small stage for performances. Parents and daughters milled about in their finery. I spotted Aurora immediately near the refreshments table, wearing a pale pink dress with little sparkles that caught the light. Her hair was in careful curls, but her face looked anxious as she scanned the growing crowd.“Miss Falls!” she called, running over the second she saw me. She did a little twirl. “Do you like my dress? Daddy picked it out special.”My heart squeezed. I crouched down to her level, smiling wide. “Aurora, you look absolutely beautiful. Like a little princess. That color makes your eyes shine.”She blushed, ducking her head with a shy giggle. “Really? You’re not just saying that?”“Really really,” I promised, tapping her nose gently. “You’re going to have the best time tonight. Want to show me your moves before it starts?”We practiced a silly dance together, her small han
JoleneThe days blurred together in a rhythm I hadn’t expected. Every afternoon around three-thirty, the classroom door would creak open and Cal would step inside, his broad shoulders filling the frame. At first I kept my responses short, polite nods, quick updates about Aurora’s day, nothing more. “She did well on her spelling quiz. She shared her snack with another student.” Professional. Safe. But Cal had a way of chipping at the walls I’d built so carefully. He’d linger, leaning against the desk with that easy half-smile, asking questions that pulled more than one-word answers from me.“Rough day?” he asked on Tuesday, watching Aurora carefully pack her clay wolf into her backpack like it was made of glass.I shrugged, wiping down the whiteboard. “Not really. Just long. You know how it is with twenty-five six-year-olds.”He chuckled, low and warm. “I can barely handle one. You’ve got superpowers, Jolene.”The compliment landed softly, unexpected. I felt my cheeks warm despite mysel
We spent the next thirty minutes playing simple games while we waited.Aurora showed me her drawings and I helped her finish a puzzle. Then somehow we ended up building tiny animals out of modeling clay. She made what was supposed to be a wolf.It looked more like a potato with ears but I told her it was beautiful. She looked very pleased with herself. The classroom felt strangely peaceful. For the first time since returning to Crove Pack, I wasn't thinking about my past.I wasn't thinking about Seth, I wasn't thinking about the night that changed everything, I was just sitting on the floor helping a little girl build a clay wolf. The classroom door suddenly opened.Aurora's face lit up."Uncle Cal!"I looked up and then froze. Not because it was Cal, but because it wasn't the Cal I remembered. The last time I'd seen him, he had been eighteen years old. After their graduation. He was loud, reckless, always laughing, and always causing trouble. But.....The man standing in my doorway looke
Jolene The next morning, I stood in front of my bathroom mirror longer than necessary while brushing my teeth. Not because I was fixing my hair or trying to choose an outfit.I was thinking about a seven-year-old girl.Which was ridiculous.I had been teaching for years. Children got attached to teachers all the time, especially younger ones. It wasn't unusual. What was unusual was the fact that Aurora King was Seth's daughter.Every time I thought about it, I saw those gray eyes. His eyes. The same eyes I had spent half my teenage years daydreaming about.I rinsed my mouth and stared at my reflection."Get it together, Jolene."Aurora hadn't done anything wrong. She was a child.A sweet child.Whatever feelings I had toward her father had absolutely nothing to do with her.I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs.Mom was already making breakfast."Morning."She looked up from the stove."Morning. You look tired.""I was thinking.""That's usually dangerous."I rolled my eyes and grab
Jolene A few minutes later, my dad's bmw arrived. I sat in the front seat and was greeted with the same pair of blue eyes and a warm smile. "Hello darling. How was school and tryouts" he asked as he drove off the school grounds. "I think I dislocated my hips. And classes were boring as always.
Jolene Immediately the bell rings, I didn't have the tell to organize my belongings before Jess was pulling me out of the classroom. I had to shove everything into my back pack before leaving with her. We reached the gymnasium and the coach along with Vera was standing there. We form a crowd ar
Jolene We get to the school grounds around 7:15 am and we still have half an hour before the first period. I grabbed my bag and followed Jess out. We talked all the way to our lockers and the place was loud as always. Everyone talking and the voices overlapping with each other. "I hope the coac
Jolene. "Jo!! Hurry up the bus will be leaving. And I will not be driving you to school today too" my mum yells from the stairs and I groaned "I know ma! I'm just fixing my hair" I yelled back, still looking in the mirror, trying to pull my hair into a ponytail."You've been 'fixing' your hair fo
