CHAPTER 2

One year passed without me even realizing it. Rylan was the heir of the Dark Shadow Pack, the next Alpha. Eli, on the other hand, was just a commoner omega from the Red Pack. Yesterday, Rylan had taken Eli to meet his parents, leaving me alone for the first time in a while. I felt a little bored.

But today, my father called me back. He said they were fixing my marriage.

It would be a lie if I said I didn’t love Rylan at all. Even knowing he belonged to Eli, my feelings grew. But I never showed them, burying them deep inside my heart. Now that Rylan and Eli were getting married, it was time for me to move on too.

That’s what I thought.

But when I returned home, the Alpha waiting for me was none other than Rylan.

“Father…” I glanced at him, but his glare made me shiver. I quickly looked down.

Rylan stood with his father. But why? Hadn’t he taken Eli to meet his parents? What had happened?

“Didn’t I tell you I only love Eli? I’m not marrying any other bitch,” Rylan said, glaring at me with disgust.

I froze. I hadn’t even known the Alpha my father had chosen for me was Rylan.

I wanted to refuse, but before I could speak, my father’s hand pressed down on my shoulder, silencing me.

“My son has a temper. It’s nothing. After marrying Loric, I’m sure he’ll calm down,” Rylan’s father said.

In the blink of an eye, our marriage was fixed, along with the ceremony date.

When our fathers left the room, only the two of us remained.

“You did this on purpose, didn’t you? You’ve been jealous of Eli all this time. That’s why you used your powers as the Alpha’s heir.”

“No! I didn’t do anything. I swear I didn’t even know it was you. If I had known, I would’ve refused!” I panicked, trying to explain, but his expression didn’t change. He kept glaring at me, making me shiver.

“You slut. I should’ve known from the way you sneaked glances at me,” he spat, releasing his pheromones in anger.

Cough. Cough.

I dropped to the ground, coughing. “Please… stop,” I begged.

But he didn’t. My breath stuck in my chest, my body weakening like I was about to enter my heat cycle. Then, blood dripped from my nose.

I looked up at him with tearful eyes, hoping for pity, for him to stop.

But instead, he smirked at my suffering. My heart ached.

No, I couldn’t let this marriage happen. I had to tell my father to stop it at any cost.  

My eyes were getting heavy, and within seconds, darkness spread before them.

Later, when I opened my eyes, I found myself lying on the bed in my room. I slowly sat up, only to feel an intense pain in my chest. Rylan had already left.

I had to stop this marriage at any cost.

With that thought in mind, I forced myself out of bed and rushed out of the room.

I headed straight to my father’s study. My body still felt weak, but I knocked on the door anyway. After a moment, I heard his firm voice from inside.

“Come in.”
