Chapter 24

Selina POV

The week somehow managed to become worse. Priya excluded me from another strategy meeting.

I tapped stared at my laptop with a glare. I found out through an email that a proposal I had spent two days working on had already been discussed, revised and approved without me ever stepping into the room. I was working on my laptop on another project when I got the forwarded summary note.

I stared at the message for several seconds before opening my notebook. I noted down the da

  • The Unloved Wife Of Damien Whitmore   Chapter 42

Chapter 42Damien POV I was in the office, seated behind my desk as I stared into space. My laptop screen had some documents opened but my mind was elsewhere. After discovering Amora’s dishonesty, I started to dwell on the shooting incident at the dinner. The police report suggested the chief suspect was a disgruntled rival from my past. Since, he had been apprehended alongside the remaining surviving shooters, the case was solved. I knew this was just the beginning; I could feel it in my bones. I never believed in coincidences; I wasn’t about to start now. The shooting, Derek case all felt too eerily close for my liking.  Someone was definitely orchestrating these attacks despite what the police or anybody said. I picked up my phone and sent a text to Marcus. Damien: Get me a security analyst. I stared at my watch, Marcus should walk in any minute now.  The door opened, Marcus and a middle aged man in a suit walke

  • The Unloved Wife Of Damien Whitmore   Chapter 41

CHAPTER 41Selina POV.I forced myself to calm down and act natural as I scanned around. Deep breathes. Inhaling and exhaling several, I was able to get my ragged breathing under control. I started walking, through the glass of the shops and buildings I passed, I noticed the black sedan tailing me.My eyes darted around to see what options I had. The streets was fairly empty and there was hidden area to run into.I clutched my stomach with my hand. My baby.I’m going to do everything to keep your safe. Nothing’s going to happen to you if I can help it.What if the sedan wasn’t following me? I mean there are several people on the streets going in the same direction I was. There was only way to find out. It was usually a straight path when I headed home after work but today’s route was going to have some detour. I scanned ahead and there was a road that veered off to the left. I took it and walked down a bit, I heard the sedan turn too. I took another righ

  • The Unloved Wife Of Damien Whitmore   Chapter 40

Chapter 40Caleb POVI was in my office poring over documents scattered across my table. There was a slight frown on my face. How did that damned bugger do it? I hardly made it through a day but Damien sat through these things like it was nothing. I’d would hire him and make it worth his while if he wasn’t a Whitmore. What was the going rate for a Whitmore in today’s market by the way? I chuckled, more than you can afford mate.My alarm buzzed and I checked the notification. Email Nadia. I almost forgot about that. I opened my mail and typed: The dividend was supposed to come in yesterday but it was a no show. Call me.I leaned back in my seat and stared into the blank space as my mind traveled back to that evening.Months ago.I was at the bar celebrating a major deal alone when Nadia walked up to me. She was elegantly dressed, make up was light and she radiated a subtle vixen energy as she approached me. I initially thought she was an “A” class escort

  • The Unloved Wife Of Damien Whitmore   Chapter 39

Chapter 39SELINA POVI was seated in my cubicle working as the office cackled with life around me. The phones rang off their hook, colleagues on the phones trying to convince the wealthy to contribute to a cause they care nothing about and the occasional swearing at the ancient coffee maker. I had cleared a large pile of work but I still had a a mountain of work to go through. Nothing like an accident to leave you with a Everest-sque backlog of work to do. As bad as that sounded out, it was still the place I wanted to be. Damien and I hadn’t really talked since that article was published, I mean there was nothing to say, really. I had always known it had and would always continue to be Amora, now the rest of the world is catching and I had made my peace with it already Staring at the screen, I rubbed my eyes as I tried to remove the fatigue that was resting behind my pupils. A shadow darkened the entrance of my cubicle, I looked up and it was Priya’s assistan

  • The Unloved Wife Of Damien Whitmore   Chapter 38

CHAPTER 38Damien POV. I was seated in the office poring over some documents that needed handling days ago. The office was quiet and for the time in days I wasn’t distracted. The door open and Marcus came in with a tablet in his hand. I had come to loathe that tablet on his person anytime he walked into my office. What was it this time? He walked over to my desk and placed the tablet on the table. “ You might want to see this. There are reporters outside so I didn’t want you walking in blindly.”Staring at the screen, I frowned as I checked the content. There was a picture of Amora and I underneath a headline that said “Love Rekindled”. I read the column and it said, basically, my supposedly relationship with Amora had hit the rocks but was back stronger and better. And us being a couple again was an open-secret. The column stated it source had chosen to remain anonymous but hinted the source was well respected and highly placed in society to know about it. I glanced at Marcus a

  • The Unloved Wife Of Damien Whitmore   Chapter 37

CHAPTER 37AMORA POVI drove into the Whitmore Residence and noticed a different car in the driveway. Was that Mrs. Whitmore car? Seems like it. The staff went about their duties but I noticed the subtle stares they gave me before they turned their focus back to their work.I scanned for a place to park, I came down and glanced towards the northern end of the residence, there was a reserved parking space for one. The glimmer of steel told me it was occupied. Damien had been home and didn’t even bother to pick my calls all these while? What the hell was going on? I was making my way to the house when Rosalie came into view. Where did she come out from? I put on my best smile and greeted her. “Mrs. Whitmore! What a surprise to see you here! It’s been far too long.”Her remained like a hawk scanning a field for movement before it struck. My smile faltered a bit under her piercing stare but I regained my composure. She didn’t move out of the way to let me pas
