The Unsaid Between Us

My wife invited her new male assistant into a private luxury room."Thanks to my assistant, Julian, we wrapped up last month's investment project with ease. I've seen how hard he's worked this past month."I was stunned. Everyone sitting at that table was a senior figure in the company. He was just a new intern. What gave him the right to stand out like that? However, my wife kept smiling as she went on."While we're celebrating tonight, I want to make an announcement. I'll be transferring ten percent of the company's shares to Julian as recognition. From now on, we're no longer just an employer and an employee. We're partners."The moment she finished, the room exploded into noise, followed by loud applause.Julian Wallace's eyes turned red. He looked overwhelmed. My wife, Cecilia Shaw, gently handed him a tissue. One of the shareholders raised his glass with a grin."Julian, congratulations. Looking forward to working with you."Julian awkwardly lifted his glass, but Cecilia

"Cecilia already lowered herself to cook for you. What else are you unhappy about?"Julian pointed at me and started yelling. "I even came to your house to apologize in person. What more do you want? I'm warning you; don't push your luck!"I laughed when I heard that. Then, I took off my tailored suit and my expensive watch. I did not want them to get damaged. As I walked toward him, I asked, "Julian, do you really deserve to use the words in person? Is your apology worth anything?"Julian did not care. He kept shouting. "Still better than you. If Cecilia hadn't lifted you up, you wouldn't even be qualified to talk to me!"Just as I was about to make a move, he suddenly dropped to a squat at my feet and grabbed onto my leg."What? Are you going to hit me again?"Go ahead, hit me as hard as you want. The more you hit me, the more Cecilia will feel sorry for me."And the worse you'll look in her eyes. She'll definitely divorce you. And when that happens, your wife will become my

Julian looked like he could not sit still. The words clearly hit him harder than anything else."What? But… This… How is this possible? How did it turn out like this?"Cecilia's expression turned icy."There's nothing between us. Even if there were, even if I really divorced Kent, I still wouldn't choose you."Julian froze. "Then, what am I?""A man who tried to climb up the social ladder by using a woman. Someone who wanted to attach himself to me. Isn't that obvious enough?"Julian opened his mouth, but no words came out. "I… This… I…"Cecilia kept staring at him."I got close to you on purpose because Kent didn't treat me the way he used to. I just wanted to make him jealous."Bringing you home yesterday was also deliberate. I wanted to provoke him, to make him realize how important I am to him."Otherwise, why would I ever let trash like you feed me? And just happen to let Kent see it?""You…" Julian's world seemed to collapse in that instant."You used me?" His voice w

The first image showed a swimming facility. Cecilia was lying on a lounge chair in a bikini, while Julian straddled her, giving her a massage. The second image showed the two of them wearing masks, sneaking into a hospital's obstetrics department for a pregnancy checkup. There was also a short video. The moment I tapped on it, I wished I had not.I slapped myself hard across the face. What an idiot!Previously, for a few seconds, I had actually hesitated.Right then, the door opened. Julian and Cecilia had returned.Julian's shirt was half open, his whole appearance disheveled. The moment they stepped in and saw me, the air froze. His voice trembled. "Mr. Stewart… It's my fault. I overestimated myself. Please don't hold it against me."If you're still angry, take it out on me. You can blame me, however you want, but please don't divorce Cecilia."I thought it through last night. I'm nothing, and I don't deserve her. I won't appear in your lives again."As long as you're will
