"You look remarkably peaceful when you’re not talking.” he noted.
“What do you mean?” Thalia asked with a sleepy eye roll.
“Forget about it.” he said, sliding out of the bed.
Thalia stretched, the white T-shirt riding up her thighs. "If I’m right, the lock down ends today. Right?”
“Yes… the doors should be opened in a few hours from now.”
“Thank goodness.” Thalia said, her eyes lighting up with genuine relief.
They spent the next few hours in the quiet room, each waiting for the door to click open, lost in different thoughts. Soon, the silence turned back into an intimate heat. Julian slowly reached out, placing his hands on Thalia’s thighs. She shivered at the feel of his cold palms against her skin… a sharp contrast to the fever still burning in her blood.
“You’re good?” she whispered.
“Yeah… I just want to feel you one more time.”
“You’re too bad for a saint.”
“No…” he murmured, leaning in. “Maybe you’re just too addictive for me to handle.”
“Come here.” She said, pulling his hand higher, brushing it against the sensitive skin of her inner thigh.
“Feel it… it’s dripping right?”
“Mmm” he groaned, smashing his lips against hers as his fingers drove into her.
Minutes later, the bed turned into a battlefield as they both tried to dominate. The silence of the suite was now replaced by the rhythmic sound of their skin hitting against each other, and their ragged moans that filled the room until the air felt heavy.
They came together one last time, lost in each other’s eyes in a moment that felt more like a silent goodbye.
A sharp click from the door pulled them back to reality.
“ATTENTION EVERYONE, THE 48 HOURS LOCK DOWN HAS NOW ENDED. AND WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. PLEASE HAVE A GOOD DAY.”
The voice echoed through the suite and the
electronic bolts retracted with a heavy thud.
“The jammers were down,” Thalia breathed, her eyes brightening up. “The world is back.” She screamed out in pure excitement.
Suddenly, Thalia's phone, discarded on the floor, began to vibrate.
The screen lit up: GIGI
Thalia scrambled out of bed quickly, grabbing the phone and pressing it to her ear. "Gigi? I'm fine. I'm okay."
"Fine? Thalia where the hell are you?, the whole city is a war zone and I've been calling for two days!" Gigi's voice was so loud that Julian could even hear the vibration from the bed.
"I’ll explain later, Gee. I'll be back in an hour. Just... stay put, okay?" Thalia hung up, her face back to that cold, professional mask as she turned to Julian who was still in bed, staring at her.
"I believe our time is officially up," Thalia said, her voice steady. "I’ll need my payment. A hundred and fifty thousand, as agreed."
Julian didn’t say a word. Instead, he signaled for her to come sit on the bed.”
“I don’t have time for this, Julian. Pay me so i can go home. I’m sick of this place.”
"What does it cost?" he asked suddenly.
Thalia blinked. "What?"
"To be your exclusive client,” Julian said, rising from the bed to stand in front of her. His blue
eyes locked onto hers with a frightening intensity.
Thalia let out a dry, disbelieving laugh. "What do you mean?"
"Let's sign a contract. A real paperwork," Julian stepped closer, his shadow falling over her. “To make me your exclusive client. And I’ll triple whatever any other man is going to pay you,”
The offer was mouthwatering, the $150,000 was already within reach, and adding this new deal would mean more money than most people saw in a lifetime. But she couldn’t risk the complications that might come with it. She lifted her head, looking him dead in the eye.
"Nice offer, but I’m sorry… I’m not interested."
Julian's expression went blank. "I'm offering you a fortune, Tee. You could have everything. You’d never have to grind again.”
"I don't want everything. I want my life to be fully mine, without being watched or controlled,” she countered, breaking the eye contact. She grabbed her purse and headed for the door. "I'll meet Damian downstairs to wire me the money. Have a good day, Mr. Valentino."
She didn't look back after that, She pushed through the heavy suite doors and stepped into the hallway, a smile touching her lips as the cold breeze hit her face. She was out. She was free.
Just as she reached the elevator, her phone buzzed. She reached into her bag to silence it, thinking it was Gigi again, but stopped when she saw it wasn’t a call… it was a text message. So she pulled the phone out to check.
She swiped the screen, and her blood immediately turned ice.
[Unknown]: Did you get him to sign it?
Thalia stopped dead in her tracks, her breath caught in her throat. Her eyes widened as she stared at the words boldly written on her phone and reality dawned on her.
"Bloody fuck!" she gasped, her phone nearly slipping from her trembling fingers.”how did I forget that?”
Panic flared in her chest. She couldn’t walk away now, Not yet,”
She spun around, sprinting back to the suite, and slammed her palm against the suite door. It didn't budge. She hammered again, her heart beating hard against her ribs. A moment later, the door swung open.
Julian stood there, his blazer over his arm, looking every bit like the untouchable man he was. He looked surprised, a flicker of hope crossing his sharp features. "Tee? Did you forget…"
"I'm in," she blurted out, cutting him off and stepping into his space before she could lose her nerve. "The contract. The exclusivity. I'm in."
A small, knowing smirk touched his lips. “I knew you would come back. You’re always about the money anyways.”
She paused, her heart hammering as she looked at him in the eyes.
“...But on one condition.”
They woke up few hours later, with Julian who had slept off cuddling her.“You’re still sleeping?” Julian asked, watching Thalia who was groaning beside him.“My head feels so heavy,”“That’s what you get for being an alcoholic,”Thalia laid there, her eyes closed, while Julian sat up staring at her for a while. He finally got up, and got dressed before going out.An hour later, he returned carrying several shopping boxes. And Thalia was sitted on the bed now.“Here,” he said handing the boxes to her, and a small medicine bag.“What are these?” She asked taking them from him,“You can see for yourself,”She opened the boxed one after the other with her mouth half opened in surprise… he had gotten her some dresses.“What’s the occasion?”"You'll be staying here for a while," he stated flatly.Thalia blinked, looking back at the boxes. "Why?""The media.""Isn't that settled yet? I thought you lied to them.""Yes, but they aren't dumb. They might hang around trying to dig up information
Thalia stared at him with her mouth slightly open as the word hung in the air. For all her smooth-talking, his blunt answer had completely thrown her off script.Slowly, a triumphant grin spread across her face, her cheeks already flushed a pretty pink from the wine. “I didn’t see that coming, Mr. Valentino. Who throws an answer like that?”“I only do things at my pace.”“It’s just a question. You really don’t need to be so bossy about it, or else you’d kill the fun of it.”Julian remained muted, his eyes focused on her.“Deep ocean blue,” she repeated, leaning forward on her elbows, completely relaxed.“That’s a bit basic, but I’ll take it,” she teased.“Now, what about music? What does the great Julian Valentino listen to when he isn’t calculating billions?”The question threw Julian off a bit. He couldn't even remember the last time he listened to a song… but he still remembered those days when he couldn’t go a day without listening to one. Her question brought back those old memor
“Did Damian step in here?” he asked again.Thalia’s heart pounded in her chest as she searched for the right words to say. “No! N—” She stopped, watching Julian arch his brow. “I mean…” She rubbed the side of her neck, deflecting. “I think he did.”“You think?”Left with no choice, and not wanting to be caught lying, “He did step in here.”His eyes dropped to her body for a second. “And he saw you like this?”She let out a dry chuckle, rolling her eyes as if the very question was absurd. “What? Huh? Am I silly? Of course not!”His dark eyes remained fixed on hers. “Are you sure?”“Julian, you should trust me. My body isn’t meant for some cheap eyes.”He finally took his eyes off her, letting the silence stretch between them for a few more minutes. The sharp, lingering note of Damian’s cologne still hung faintly in the air, as if mocking him. Julian’s jaw tightened. He could tell she was omitting something… he could feel the gaps in her story… but pushing her right now would yield noth
Now at the bottom of the stairs, “Jules!" Damian called out in a rush, his lips stretched quickly into it usual pleasant easy going smile and throwing his hands up in a warm, welcoming embrace the moment the front door opened and Julian stepped in. "Look at you, back sooner than expected. I thought the media vultures would have picked your bones clean by now."Surprised, Julian glanced up. "Damian. You're still here?”“Ofc! I wasn’t going to sleep there, you know,” he laughed, crashing into one of the chairs.“The job is done.”“Oh… I expected the car to take longer than this. But that’s fine.”"You should know me by now. When the boss gives an order, I move like lightning," Damian chuckled. “So, tell me… how did the media rounds go?”Julian let out a deep breath, running a hand through his hair. "It’s supposed to be fine by now. I’ve told Maya what to do after my meetings. She’d be handling the official press release by now.”“Great! I know you’d always find a way,” Damian said, his
“H-Hi,” Thalia said slowly.Maya said nothing; her eyes just moved to Julian and went back to her tablet, her fingers flying across the keyboard. Both Julian and Damian had a flash of surprise on their faces upon seeing her, though Damian was incredibly quick to mask his own, putting on a sly smile.“Who do we have here?” Damian asked with a light, amused cough, while Julian’s intense gaze remained entirely locked on her.The question pulled Maya’s attention back toward the door for a brief second, her sharp eyes scanning Thalia before she coldly returned her focus to whatever she was doing before.“Julian… you didn’t tell me you were still in contact with her,” Damian needled, a knowing smirk playing on his lips. “You’re a bad…”“Shut it, Damian,” Julian cut him off coldly, turning to cast him a harsh glare.“Jules…”“Enough!”Julian turned his attention back to Thalia. As his eyes met hers, the rigid, stony set of his jaw altered ever so slightly.“Go upstairs, Thalia. I’ll meet you
Thalia stepped into the lounge to find it in complete chaos. All the girls were gathered in a tight circle, their faces drawn in serious lines as if they were holding a high stakes meeting. She was still lost in her thoughts, wondering what was wrong, when Gigi turned and spotted her standing by the door.“Thalia! Thank God you’re back,” Gigi called out in a rush, lunging forward to grab Thalia’s arm.“Gigi, what’s going on?”“You wouldn't believe what's happening right now, Tee. Management dropped a notice about an increase in our living standards, and the girls are completely flipping out over the new roster… it’s ridiculous, right?”“Am I part of it?”“Half of us might get reassigned. If they bring in new faces, we’d be completely booted out of here, and that’s why we’re trying to figure out what to do before morning.”“Good luck to you guys.”“Tee…”“I’m tired,” Thalia said, her gaze dropping deliberately to Gigi’s hand on her arm until Gigi nervously let go.She had only moved tw
“Nova, how is her name on paper?” Ma’am Kyle had asked.Ma’am Nova scratched her neck nervously.“Actually, it’s not a name. It was just a number.”Ma’am Kyle furrowed her brows. “How do you keep a record like that?”“Her record is blank. Just a number.”“This is crazy,” Ma’am Kyle said, her voice
Julian slammed the door of his study shut, his body vibrating with a fury of a man who had reached his limit.“So… you’ve got the nerves to come in here to try to blackmail me?”“I… I honestly wasn’t serious about that. I just wanted you to talk to me, that’s all.”“And you seriously think I’ll buy
Thalia smirked. “I lied.”Then she proceeded to start cooking, while Julian stood there, watching her every move."You lied," he repeated after a moment of silence."Oh… about what?""The bananas.” he said, taking a step closer. “You said you couldn't cook. But you’re handling that knife like you’v
She moved slowly to the edge of the bathroom glass, sliding the door open,"The clothes, Julian?" She whispered. Biting her lips and letting her gaze roam over his naked body, sending an instant heat that made his pulse thud in his ear. “Right h… h… here.” he stuttered. She stepped into his space,
