Chapter 3

King Lestat’s Point of View

I couldn’t believe what just happened. The young female lying on the ground was my beloved.

“Rose, Rose, please wake up,” A girl said as she kneeled in front of my beloved. There was another girl who was sitting in a corner. She was shaking in fear and had tears coming out of her eyes. I knew they had to be my beloved’s sisters. 

I walked over to my beloved and picked her up bridal style. Pleasurable sparks went through my body as soon as I touched her.  “What are you doing?” the girl who was kneeling in front of her asked. I didn’t answer her and made my way out of the cell. I could hear the girl yelling at me, but I didn’t have time to deal with her. All I could think about was my beloved, Rose. She was unconscious, and her face was bruised up. She had a busted lip and both of her eyes were black. 

My mind went to Damen and what he did to her. I wanted to tear him apart right then, but first I needed to take care of my beloved. I had to make sure she was okay. That didn't mean I was going to let him think he was safe. 

"Lock Damen up in a cell," I said to the guard who was standing by the door

"Yes, My King," The guard said, and he walked over to Damen and put cuffs on him.

"What? Please, I am sorry. I didn't know," Damen said, but I ignored him 

I heard Victoria tell my beloved sisters to go with her. I was sure she was going to take them to a better room. Most likely one that was in the royal quarter. At the moment, I didn’t care what she was planning to do with them. All I wanted to do was make sure my beloved was safe. 

Everyone I passed watched as I walked with my beloved in my arms. I was sure they were both shocked and confused at why I was holding a human in my arms. Everyone knew I hated humans more than anything else in this world. 

I walked into the pack hospital and went straight to Dr. Elizabeth’s office. “Hello, My King,” Dr. Elizabeth said

“I need you to make sure she is okay,” I said as I placed her on the bed. 

 Dr. Elizabeth quickly walked over to my beloved and started to check on her.

“What happened to her?”  Dr. Elizabeth asked

“She was beaten unconscious,” I said. I watched as Dr. Elizabeth worked on Rose. 

”How is she?” I asked once I couldn’t take it anymore. I needed to know she was okay.

"Her arm is broken, and as you can see, she has bruises all over. I think it would be good to run some tests just to make sure she doesn't have any other broken bones or anything else I am not seeing," Dr. Elizabeth said

"Do whatever you need," I said 

"Yes, My King."

"When will she wake up?" I asked

"She should wake up at any time," Dr. Elizabeth said, and I just kept my eyes on Rose. 

"I need to go get some things ready for the tests. I will be back soon. Congratulations," Dr. Elizabeth said, and I looked at her. "I know she is your beloved. I can tell how worried and caring you seem toward her. Don't worry. I am sure she will be fine," Dr. Elizabeth said

"She better be," I replied, and I could see the fear in her face at my words. I didn't care. I meant what I said. If she wasn't okay, someone would die. My mind went to Damen, and I felt even angrier. He was the one who did this to my beloved. How dare he think he could touch her? Then I thought about how he called and asked me if it was okay for him to hurt her. I told him it was. It was my fault. Just thinking about that made me feel like shit. I had fucked up. I let him harm my beloved. I might not have known that Rose was my beloved, but that didn't matter. I gave him the okay to do whatever he wanted to her. What if he would have??? I couldn't even finish that thought. 

Without looking, I sense the moment Jacob came into the room. He stayed quiet, knowing I needed silence.

"This is my fault. I let him harm her," I said

"You didn''t know who she was," Jacob said

"It doesn't matter. I am still at fault. No matter what, I won't let Damen get away with what he did," I said

"So, you are going to accept her," Jacob asked, and I looked at him. 

"What do you mean. Of course, I am going to accept her," I basically growled at him. I was sure my eyes were red from the anger of what he said.

"I didn't mean any disrespect. It's just she is human and I know how you feel about humans," Jacob said. I knew she was a human, but rejecting her never came to my mind. I would never do that. She was my beloved. Mine!

"It doesn't matter. She is my beloved, and I plan to keep her," I said

"Do you plan on treating her like a beloved or keeping her like a ?" The look I gave him made him be quiet. I knew what he was thinking. He thought I might keep her as a pet. A pet was a human that some of the vampires would keep. A pet had to do anything their master said. They were basically slaves. I never kept a pet, but didn't mind if others did. 

"She is not my pet. She is my beloved. I'd better not ever hear you say that again."

She might be a human, but she was my beloved, and I planned on treating her just like that. One thing I was sure about was that no one would ever harm her again.
