Christopher's POV

I didn't know how I felt or how to explain how I felt or what to say or what to think. My brain was a void. An empty void.

My soul hurt. It felt crushed under the weight of it all, that was if I had a soul. I hadn't spoken a word to Dante since the call, and he'd let me.

He didn't push or press; he just held me, and when I stepped out of his house and walked alone into a room to cry, he let me go.

I wanted to be alone because I felt guilt. I was filled with guilt for the way I felt but also couldn't help or stop the way I was feeling.

What would Dante say if he found out how I felt? Would he be angry, disappointed? Pissed? I mean...

There was a soft knock on the door.

I wiped my tears, and blood soaked the tissue. I stood up and walked to the door, opening it for him.

He smiled at me.

"Hey, Sunshine." He pulled me into a hug, and I melted into his arms.

"I have the plane ready on standby and our bags packed if you want to go," he offered, cupping my face in his hand

Dante's POVThe hospital smelled like death. Sterile, cold, suffocating. Especially when I knew I had someone I loved holding onto someone they loved. I was in distress and felt useless. But nothing compared to the sight of Christopher sitting there, holding onto his mother’s limp hand like it was the last tether holding him together. He sat by her side the whole time, not letting go of her hand. I could see he was shaking. The look on his face was one of pain.I couldn't do anything. I was useless in his pain. I only stood and watched.Machines beeped around us, wires, tubes, the slow rhythm of a body that was alive only because of them. She looked so small, too fragile, bruised, and bandaged up.Next to her, his father. Hooked on machines just for show. He was already gone and couldn’t be saved. On the drive over, I had already called every name that mattered, every connection, every debt owed to me. I had made sure that everyone who could do something to help was there to do someth

  • The Vampire King's Obsession    Chapter 295

Dante's POV We got to the car and he insisted on driving us back. He was happy and grinning. Getting fed was the best decision we could have made for the day.Whatever sour mood he’d been in just earlier on had faded, and now he was happy.“God, that was fun,” he said, turning to me with this smile on his face.“Yeah, right?” I asked, staring at him as he looked forward towards the road.“Omg, the thrill. I never knew it was this great. I mean, the chase. The fear, you can taste it all,” he said excitedly, and I nodded.“It is one of the best tastes out there, isn’t it?” I asked him, and he nodded.“It’s pure, it’s different… it’s…” he suddenly got silent.“Now I feel guilty and stupid at the same time. I mean, if this is what it feels like, then vampires are a lot better than humans, because if we had access to a taste of this difference, we’d kill so much more often,” he said, looking at me.We?He was no longer part of that statement. But I didn’t say anything. He was still transi

Christopher's POVI watched Dante drain the man until he was barely living and then drop him before I could raise any concern."Why did you do that?" I asked, and he raised a brow."Really?" he asked, pointing to the men on the floor.I could ask you that too."I didn’t drain them," I said, rolling my eyes and staring at the unconscious men on the floor."Sure," he said, dragging the two men along towards where the bodies of the other two were.He dumped them and turned to me."So I will be teaching you how to wipe their memories and manipulate them," he said, stretching out his hand towards me."We’ll start with the first guy and make our way down, as he has the smallest memory of the group and should be easier to manipulate," he explained, and I nodded."So you lift them up like this," he said, demonstrating by lifting the first man."Open your eyes," he spoke to the man, and he slowly, grouchily opened his eyes."Then, before they can react, you get into their minds," Dante said, s

Dante’s POVEven though I wanted to butt in and help, I had to stay on the sidelines and let Christopher handle it like I had promised him.It wasn’t easy watching, especially after reading their thoughts, but I just had to stay in the sidelines and watch.I knew after hearing what they had said, Christopher wouldn’t go easy on them. He was already raging from overhearing their conversations, and I was sure he couldn’t go easy on them.I just texted Manson to cut the cameras in at least a twenty-mile radius around this place so we could get this done without being seen.Christopher turned to me and smiled.“Let’s get them out of the parking lot, right babe?” he asked, and I nodded. What the hell was he planning? He bolted off almost immediately with human speed, and I followed him, running at a human pace. The foolish men gave chase like we expected, and we drew them with us to a dark alley.Christopher was smiling. “Hello, gentlemen,” he smiled at them, and they growled, almost looki

  • The Vampire King's Obsession    Chapter 292

Christopher's POV We pulled in front of the bar and got out. The place definitely lived up to its name for being a shady bar.It was right out of the movies. We went in together and both stuck out like a sore thumb.People looked as we made our way to the front. The bar reeked of stale beer and body odor. That thick, heavy musk was killing my vampire senses.it was kind of place where everyone had a secret they’d rather die than see brought to light. Abusers of all kind were here. They frequented here to keep their minds away from guilt of their deeds and to mingle with other degenerates. It was the perfect place for a meal.Dante and I slid into a booth, and he reached for my hand almost immediately. He signaled to the bartender and ordered drinks with that sexy grace he had about him, not caring about the watching eyes of the people. As the bartender left, he squeezed my hand.“Are you nervous?” he asked, and I rolled my eyes.“Nah. I’m fine, shockingly. I don’t feel any hesitatio
