Christine, still clad in her leather skirt and my shirt, let out a sob. Her demeanor around me was always calm and collected, but the recent news of her ex-boyfriend now being an actual incubus had her rattled. The bond we shared, the tiny little string that barely held us together until we properly mated, gave insight that she was not heartbroken in the romantic sense about this demon.

In a small way that gave me comfort to know she still cared for me.

"I'm sorry, I'm a hot, sticky mess," she said all too harshly, brushing away a tear. "It's just that I'm mad that I was tricked! For so long! I thought he was my friend too! We were together for a long time." I held her close, not sure what to say. This demon had broken so many ethical laws among humans it was astonishing.

Even being an incubus, one should have some sort of moral compass. Not all incubi were bad or evil, just the same as vampires. This one, however, seemed to be the lowest of the low.
