So close!!! Maddie and Josh just can't seem to catch a break. Wonder what all is happening. Rogues again? Gimme your thoughts.
MADDIE POV But Josh doesn’t let me take his pants off and get on my knees for him. He grabs me and hoists me up his body and into his arms. “Nope.” That is all he says just as he slams his lips on mine. Intertwining our tongues and swallowing each other’s moans before he flings me onto my bed, bouncing me a bit. He seems almost hypnotized by watching my breasts bounce around from his toss. When they’ve stilled again, his eyes meet mine. Fiery desire and hunger are all I see. “I haven’t had my fill of you yet.” He falls atop me, pinning me to the mattress. Josh attacks my mouth again, demanding, dominating, possessing. As an Alpha, I’ve always been the dominant one in the bedroom. It’s the way we alphas are built. We like control in all aspects of life. But this just feels… right. Perfect. My mate, my luna, wants to control me and I have zero hesitations about relinquishing my control over to him. Josh reaches behind me, without breaking our kiss, an
MADDIE POV The final howl is finished, and a comfortable silence envelops the air. I continue to watch the sun rise as I hear my pack members head back inside for breakfast or to head to their homes for a few hours of sleep before their normal routines begins. Our death and life celebrations are always long and usually tiring. But as the first rays of the day reach my skin, I feel energized. And I know why. Josh and the anticipation of spending time with him. Naked time. Infinity is beginning to purr loudly in my head and just the thought of being with him is making my nipples harden under my clothing and my breath quicken. I feel Josh at my back. His body warmth is creeping into mine and his scent is beginning to overwhelm my senses. My breathing picks up even faster and becomes shallower when I feel his large hands on my shoulders. They rub down my arms and one moves to splay out across my stomach and pull me back into him as the other comes up ov
JOSH POV “Why don’t I help you with what you were doing, and you tell me about her?” I offer. The young woman nods and begins setting up a work station for me next to hers while I go wash my hands. “By the way, what is your name?” I ask her. “Teresa. My parents named me after my aunt.” “That is truly an honor, for both of you. So, what are you prepping?” I ask as I tie the apron around me that Rose handed to me. It is black with a royal blue logo, and I realize it is the same logo Maddie had on her shirt when we met in the dungeon. I need to ask what it is of, but right now isn’t really the time. “I’m starting the fillings for omelets. All of the veggies are washed already, I’m cutting them and placing them in separate bowls. Once we are done, I’ll begin making the batter for pancakes. I’m a prep cook along with Emmy and Marty. They’re at their own stations.” Teresa points to two others across the kitchen and I can see they are each prep
JOSH POV I round the corner of the ballroom heading towards the kitchen for some water. I really don’t need to get it from the kitchen because there are drink stations everywhere. I just need a moment or two alone. I’m honestly not overwhelmed with the pack, the funeral, or this party and making conversations with strangers. I’m used to that, being in the public eye on a daily basis. And everyone here has been welcoming and respectful. Playing tag football with Bruno and his family along with some other teens was quite a bit of fun too. I enjoyed it immensely. Despite the violence of the battle, I feel relaxed here in the pack. Calm. At ease and at home. I haven’t felt this sense of calm since the last time I went to visit my folks. My childhood home. One of the only places I feel like I can be me, truly and totally, and where everyone treats me like a normal person. Here in the pack, I feel that same sense of homecoming and welcome, like I’m just o
MADDIE POV Greta and I perform yet another honor ceremony for our fallen warriors. I always wish there was more I could do to honor these men and women who give their lives to the pack. I do ensure their families are taken care of financially. I watch over and make sure their children have the means to attend college or trade school, if that is what they want. I provide pack funded therapy to help with the whole family’s grief and any emotional struggles they may have. It still doesn’t feel like it’s enough. I can feel Josh’s eyes on me the entire time I’m up here placing the nameplates on our wall of honor. The few times I’ve looked over at him, I can see some big emotions washing over him. I can’t even begin to imagine how he’s feeling tonight. Everything must be just so overwhelming. I like that I can see some of those emotions in his eyes though, despite not being marked yet. His face is incredibly expressive. I like it. It gives me
UNKNOWN POV I watch from the tree top where I’m perched, just on the edge of Blue Meadow’s territory lines, but safely inside ‘no man’s land’. The safe zone, where I won’t be detected and hunted by patrol wolves. I see Alpha Madison leading her pack to the large granite stone in the middle of the blue dahlia field where they hold their funerals. Walking next to the little runt shifter is a man I never expected to see on Blue Meadow territory. I never expected to see him on any pack territory. Anywhere. Ever. Joshua Logan. We received word that she found her mate and shockingly, he is human. I came to investigate myself instead of sending a lacky spy in my place. I had to know for sure, with my own eyes, if our information is correct. It seems our informant wasn’t lying. Famous NFL star Joshua Logan is her fated mate. She wouldn’t be holding hands like that if he wasn’t. This poses a serious problem for
