MADDIE POV

There is a large group of younger males back at the pool tables; they could be options too. At least I think that until I look harder and see the black Xs on their hands… shit, jailbait. Fuck no! Avoiding the pool table back corner tonight.

Maeve’s is one of the only off-territory nightlife places for River View pack and I know she lets the underage wolves in if it’s a special occasion. Like a birthday. It’s the perfect place for when the kids wanna celebrate and feel a little more grown up. Not to mention, get away from the helicopter prying eyes of mom and dad.

What the pups don’t know is that my brother, Alpha Nolan, has Maeve’s Tavern on video surveillance for their safety. He also posts up several of his older and usually retired security team members in the bar when the pups are scheduled to be here. I scan the crowd a little closer and see the security wolves blending in, drinking root beer from the bottle, and keeping an eye on the underage party pups.

    JOSH POV I sigh in resignation that the decision regarding staying and mating with Maddie is, once again, not being made today. I head into the packhouse and up the stairs to the Alpha’s quarters to take my shower and come back down for lunch. They’ve shared the stories of their journeys with me, and they haven’t sugar coated any situation, which I very much appreciate. I’ve come to learn that the issues I’ve been concerned with are the same things most of the human mates also struggled with. Unfortunately, no one has dealt with those conflicts in the same way, so there’s no hard and fast rule on how to ease the consciousness.     JOSH POV Just over a week has gone by. I haven’t seen Maddie during that entire time. I’ve seen Infinity, from a distance, running through the trees or on the streets of the pack with her patrol units, but I haven’t seen her human half at all. Rose says she’s giving me space to have my own thoughts. Ones that aren’t influenced by the bond. I appreciate her giving me my space and letting me make decisions without that influence. They have all been helping me with sparing, calisthenics and running, aiding me in improving my performance times.
