SHELDON
"What? Denzel, she is so funny!" Kimberly chuckled. I felt like a princess doll sitting in their midst who had no sense of life. I thought that it would be better if she said, 'What? Sheldon, you're so funny!'.
"Yeah, she loves kids," Denzel replied. He sat there, looking flustered but he didn't act surprised by my response. Naturally, we are already supposed to talk about all these things as a couple.
Gosh! How does he not miss any detail?
"We have three and they're too much of a handful. But I'm sure you can handle it." Lena said bashfully.
Sometime later, a tall lady dressed as a nurse approached Mrs. Raven and whispered in her ear. I watched how her eyeballs jumped from me to Denzel. There was a clear difference in the way she looked at us. She paid more attention to him. Something tells me she's not just a nurse in this household.
I was amused at how insecure I was pretending to be.
Who cares if she and Denzel have anything going on? I was here for the money.
I did more eating than talking about myself all night long, smartly fleeing from Mrs. Raven's desire to know every single bit about me. I see it in the way they look at me.
Like they don't want their beloved son and brother to marry the wrong woman.
Speaking of Denzel, his eyes begged for attention whenever I glanced his way.
I wished I could whisper to him to relax and let us be ourselves, either way, they'll be convinced that we are truly involved with each other.
Denzel promised we would leave early so after eating, I waited for him in the living room. They wanted to have a private conversation so I shouldn't ruin the vibe.
I was counting the seconds when I felt a tap on my thigh. I stared at the little girl whose lovely eyes glistened with tears.
"Ca...Carry me," She asked with a frail tone. There's no doubt she has been crying. I couldn't say no to her request while watching her affectionate face.
"Hello, cutie..." I cooed and lifted her into my arms. She was heavy and I felt the impact within a few minutes.
She dropped her head on my shoulder like she was sleeping.
Her weight doubled but I couldn't just drop her.
I looked around for help when I caught a glimpse of her older brother who was peering his father-like eyes at me.
"Hey, there," I whispered.
He reluctantly drew close and I found him gazing too much at my heels.
"What is your name?" I asked him since his sister had slept off and he was the only company I had in the magnificent living room.
He was mute for a long time and I called out to him again.
"Hey,"
He suddenly kicked my feet and I drowned my scream with my hand. The pain was buzzing.
To prevent the future drama that will occur if I overreact, I had to be strong.
My right foot began to ache against the heel.
'That little...'
"Sheldon! Oh, I see you've met my kids." Lena's voice came from behind and I smiled weakly. "Wow, she must like you."
"Yeah, but he doesn't seem to like me," I replied pointing at her son who was glaring at me.
Lena chuckled and held her son's wrist. "He takes some time before trusting people."
"I see," I whispered.
"Do you mind coming upstairs with me? They have to get ready for bed. We'll be spending the weekend with Grandma." She said walking past me with her kid.
I began to regret my life choices when my muscles weakened from holding the baby girl for so long and now I have to take her up the stairs.
Denzel is gonna get it when he eventually comes out of the dining.
Lena being here could mean the family is having some sort of close meeting.
"I'm also looking forward to visiting your boutique and getting nice clothes from there." She muttered over her shoulder.
"Oh, I don't sell your kind of clothes, it's mostly wild-inspired; ripped jeans, artwork shirts, and color-blinding outfits," I replied.
Denzel already prepared a fake store ready with a sales representative. According to Denzel, he likes women that got a businesses of their own. It makes my skin crawl because I have nothing of my own.
"Oh..." She mouthed.
"You can get pieces of jewelry instead if you want." I chipped in.
"I get it but I'll still visit." She answered stretching her smile. "I bet those clothes are not as bad as I imagine."
I shrugged my shoulders hoping I was not a bad influence on her person.
I sauntered along in my hurting feet and arms. After taking a hallway, we arrived at their bedroom and Lena carried the baby from my hands with the nanny taking over.
"Thank you, Sheldon. I hope to see you again."
She pulled me into a hug which I didn't see coming. She smelt of rose and something fluffy probably because she has a baby. We both said our final byes and I exit the room. My phone buzzed in my purse with a text message from my graceful fiancé. I tapped away to get it opened.
Zel baby: Where are you? We gotta leave.
I quickly typed that I was on my way downstairs before thrusting my phone into my bag.
While walking in the hallway, Mr. Morgan showed up from the other side with a scowl on his face. His hands were in his pockets and he moved like a shadow.
Good thing he's just the person I wanted to see. I was playing with fire, I know but Denzel would keep me from getting burnt.
"Sheldon, what games are you playing? What the heck is going on between you and Denzel?" He inquired with an angry voice.
"Denzel and I are engaged."
"A whore? Engaged?"
What a shame, Mr. Morgan, I thought you said I wasn't a whore.
"Yes, I finally want to settle down and build a family. I've been fucking around too much. You should be happy for me that I no longer want to do that." I answered, feeling smug.
"Is that why you didn't show up yesterday? I waited for a long time but I ended up calling for someone else."
"Let's put the past behind us. I'm marrying your son for God's sake."
"You gold digger! You are trying to use my son so you can get all our fortune. I'll make sure that never happens. Denzel can never marry a filthy rag like you. He won't waste his years with a nobody." He barked, his voice fuming.
I yawned. "See you later, father-in-law."
My legs were moving and I was heading out but I didn't go far as his hand gripped my arm with force. His fingers did the most harm.
I didn't cower at his violence.
"Let me go right now." I boldly demanded.
"You want to tell my wife about us, don't you? You are planning on blackmailing me."
"Never. That is against our rules. You don't need to worry. That's never gonna happen." I sighed. "Although, you might expose yourself if you keep holding me here, sir."
"End this nonsense you're pulling with my son. This is the final warning, Sheldon. Dirt like you belong in the streets."
"Mr. Morgan, I will give you grand babies and you'll have no choice but to love them because they're from your son." I paused. "Denzel and I love each other and there's nothing you can do about it, that's a promise."
"You bitch!" He barked furiously.
He flung me across the hallway and with no brakes, the side of my head crashed into the wall. I felt so light while falling to the ground and everything changed into darkness.
SHELDON Everything hurt. From my ankle to my shoulders and an ache in my head. After absorbing the chilly feeling of the tiles I was lying on, I got up slowly. My phone was vibrating nonstop in my purse. There was no sign of Mr. Morgan which means he ditched me here to die.I spewed silent insults at him as I tried straightening my dress to look exactly as it was before the fall.Suddenly, I could hear loud footsteps approaching and I stiffened. I'd be ready for doom if it turns out to be Mrs. Raven. The hairs on my skin rose as I didn't have enough time to run away. There was no point in running anyway. It'll make me look suspicious. So, I remained standing until the person causing the sound showed up from the other side of the hallway. He was tall, very tall, and dressed in a suit. Wearing gloves in his hands that clutched a black disposable sack and a nose mask. I could only see his eyes.At first, he was staring at the ground I fainted on before his eyes darted toward me."Well
SHELDONDenzel refused to state his reason for suddenly wanting me to come with him to his house so late at night but I followed his instructions anyway because this was what I secretly wanted.I can't keep this deal alive from afar. I wanted to be close to him so he doesn't get tired of me. My future depends on it. He's a big opportunity to get wealthy. He has turned me into a gold digger. We arrived at his house at 10 pm after the stressful packing and gathering of my belongings. He was sweet enough not to help me do the packing. According to him, he doesn't wanna be grossed out by touching my skimpy clothes. I had a majority of those kinds of clothes. I didn't mind because he's going to get used to them very soon. Denzel has been locked up in his bedroom while I went to the kitchen to use the first aid kit. Luckily, the wound wasn't too deep so I knew my way around it. After putting on the plaster, I took a long bath. My bedroom was downstairs and he said it's the only guest roo
SHELDON 'Sabina Debra Fester', my mother's full name was boldly written on the cover of the file. I flipped the first leaf with my heart thumping. There were photos of her with every personal information. And even this file notes that she's late; no longer living, dead, and gone forever. I found her pictures so lovely but they were her old photos. She wasn't this good-looking when I last saw her and watched her casket being lowered into the ground. Then, I saw something that made me freeze. Perhaps I have always been looking for something to hurt me and ruin my peace. There were details of her former jobs and where one included that my mother used to work for Mrs Raven. Within that time frame, I was around three years old. She only worked there for a year before resigning. Why did she resign? I didn't need anyone to tell me Denzel was already in the room and caught me red-handed looking through his briefcase. "I leave you for a while and you're already digging up my belongings."
SHELDON Thunderstorms clapped outside and I got tired of observing it from the window. It's evening time and the skies are dark. It has been raining for the past thirty minutes and Denzel wasn't home yet. He hasn't answered any of my calls or messages. I was curious about how it went with his dad. At that moment, I heard the doorbell ring. I glanced at my cat who was curled up at a corner of the living room. I hope Denzel's ready to behold his cuteness. It took him long enough. But why would he ring the doorbell when this is his place?I left to open the door. I was expecting to see his gloomy self-standing on the other side but to my surprise, more than two pair of eyes were looking back at me — three men dressed in formal outfits. Their suits spoke volumes just like Denzel's style of dressing. This fact was the reason I didn't slam the door and ran for my life. I instantly recognized them as the dashing friends in his file. I had to know in case his family brought it up during t
SHELDON I hated to break it to myself that this miserable night wasn't over. I was still in this house with four annoying guys, a heavy rain going on outside, and an overbearing cousin. Winter suggested she shares her business card with Denzel's friends because it was rare to see sons from wealthy homes in one place. If they ever needed girls for parties, Winter wanted to be the one on speed dial. For her not to humiliate me more, I escorted her to the living room, hating the look from Denzel. He forgets that things are so not cool between us. "...Trust me, my nightclub is the best in this city. I also got the prettiest girls for any service you desire." She said passing the cards to Soren, Gil, and Justin.I didn't know this was how it works and we get clients regularly. She actually straight-up tells people she is a hooker? "Expect my call. That's a promise." Justin stated as he put the card carefully in his breast pocket. "Thank you." Winter smiled warmly before giving me a p
I was enraged when Denzel woke me up and let me know that we had arrived at the church. My eyes were heavy and wanted more rest. I sat up and yawned with my arms stretching toward the roof of the car. When I opened my eyes after a few blinks, Denzel was observing me with an awkward look."What?" I blurted."I have one final request..." He checked his side of the window before turning back to me. "Do not sleep in church." "I'm only human. I can't control how tired I feel." "Considering your type of work, you shouldn't have any problem with being awake. Just imagine you have an early exam right after a night with a client—"I placed a finger over his lips to shut him up. "Living with you is more exhausting than working." "I'm serious, Sheldon. You can't sleep for the next three hours. I should have hid those drinks from you." I flipped; "And let me guess, it's all because of your mother. Your precious golden mom must validate me or there will be chaos." I dramatically rambled. He
"I need to get you home." Those were the last 'calm' words Denzel said to me at his parent's house before we returned to his house. The rest of our dialogue was 'unfriendly'. He was pissed and wished I didn't do that in front of his parents. I felt bad about my outburst too mostly because Mr. Morgan and Hunter were there to see my downfall. Although, I'll rise again."You're being pissed over nothing. I bet your mom you're so worried about doesn't care about what you do with your life." I snapped when the door closed behind us. "That's the other way round." Objected Denzel as he stands close to the wall."Since she already hates me, let's cut off this engagement. But just know, I'm keeping the rings." I blustered."She doesn't hate you." He responded so differently than how he was feeling in the car. He looked defeated."You're lying. I'm a woman, I know the looks in her eyes whenever she looks at me." "Well, you've got nothing to worry about, princess. This engagement is only be
"This piece of art is beautiful," Hunter mentioned as his hand touched one of the paintings by the side. The woman in the painting was on her fours with her back arched low and her behind stretching upward to the thighs of the man behind her. Her face was filled with both pain and pleasure. It's so heavy on her that I felt it just by looking at her. And the one filled with so much passion and emotions was the one Hunter thinks is 'beautiful'. How dare he? "Which one is your favorite, Sheldon?" He asked pointing at them.I drawled close to him and gazed at the paintings. "That one." It was a drawing of a woman lying by the side of the bed and awaiting her lover."I see you don't like all the dirty stuff, huh?" He teased. "I really don't know." I restricted myself from being an open book especially when I know he could implicate me. "That's fine. You like what you like. Sometimes it's hard for me to control what I feel. Too much passion so that's why I prefer the images showing m
