SHELDON
Everything hurt. From my ankle to my shoulders and an ache in my head. After absorbing the chilly feeling of the tiles I was lying on, I got up slowly. My phone was vibrating nonstop in my purse.
There was no sign of Mr. Morgan which means he ditched me here to die.
I spewed silent insults at him as I tried straightening my dress to look exactly as it was before the fall.
Suddenly, I could hear loud footsteps approaching and I stiffened. I'd be ready for doom if it turns out to be Mrs. Raven. The hairs on my skin rose as I didn't have enough time to run away.
There was no point in running anyway. It'll make me look suspicious.
So, I remained standing until the person causing the sound showed up from the other side of the hallway. He was tall, very tall, and dressed in a suit. Wearing gloves in his hands that clutched a black disposable sack and a nose mask. I could only see his eyes.
At first, he was staring at the ground I fainted on before his eyes darted toward me.
"Well, damn me. I thought you were dead." He said with an awkward smile on his lips. "I was getting ready to put you in the sack."
I shrieked. "Why the heck would you do that? You could at least call a doctor!"
Calling a doctor Is a horrible idea but it's much better than declaring me dead without being sure.
"Oh, I'll keep that in mind." He shrugged before turning to leave.
"Was it...Was it Mr. Morgan that told you to get rid of me?" I stuttered, fearing the worse.
"Denzel is waiting for you. You better go."
Oh, so he knows who I was.
"Pull this stunt with me ever again and you'll be the one in a trash bag miles away in a desert." I threatened before walking in the opposite direction.
I had landed at the end of the stairs before answering Denzel's call.
"Where are you!" It wasn't a question, it was a scream. Denzel was screaming.
"I'm on my way to you..." The call disconnected and after a few minutes, I made it outside with Denzel standing next to his car. After we got in, I felt the air conditioner blasting from all angles.
I watched our car leave the mansion peacefully.
"What took you so long? Don't tell me you've decided to sleep with my father under our roof." He interrogated.
Instead of getting triggered by his harsh comment, I tiredly replied;
"Something happened..."
"Yeah, no kidding. You're bleeding." He rasped.
I was still processing what he meant when his hand lifted my chin and his eyes stuck on my left ear.
"What happened to you?" He asked breathing very low.
I immediately got my mirror out and checked to see for myself.
"I got into a little fight."
"Don't tell me you fought my nephew." His tone softened.
"That's ridiculous. I can't fight back a six-year-old. Although, he's got a strong kick."
"Who did you fight then?
"...I don't want to talk about it," I grumbled folding my hands together.
"What is this? Are you trying to be cute, right now?" He was amused.
I stared at his face blankly wondering why he thinks I'm being 'cute'.
"What do you want from me, Denzel? Your mansion is full of weird people, I don't even know where to start."
"I'm sorry about that. Do you need to go to the hospital?"
I shook my head slowly and rested on the seat. "I'll be fine, I've been through worse. There are some clients I get sometimes that are just—"
"What? That's enough, Sheldon! I don't want to hear the details of your old job." He cut me off.
I smirked looking into his face. "I wonder how you'll do."
I was nuts. Thinking about how Denzel would behave when we get a chance to be together.
His eyes dilated and he cleared his throat nervously. His face was begging me not to talk about his capability.
"...Were you with my father? What nonsense did he say this time?" He questioned taking his eyes off my ear.
"I'm his new nightmare." I grinned.
"My father losing the wealth he gathered from my mom is his nightmare. He's afraid of being a nobody again."
"If you knew this, why didn't you just reveal his affair to your mom so she can dump him?" I wondered.
"I love seeing her happy. I don't want that to end now. Especially with her condition."
"You're really protective of your mom." I smiled briefly recalling how much I wanted my mom to be around when she was alive.
"Not exactly. She deserves better after everything she's been through."
"I deserve better too after all the things I've been through. So, you should care for me too. I'm your fiancee after all." I pouted before stretching my hand into the back of his suit.
"Yeah, right..." He rolled his eyes.
I nodded quietly before silence set into the car.
"I think I should move into your house."
The words were barely out of my lips when he started tugging on his tie.
"I don't think that's a...good idea."
"Why? I think it's perfect. Your dad would even believe us more. Besides, your house is so big you won't even know I'm there."
"Sheldon,"
I couldn't hide my smile when I felt like I have won him over. "I'll get packing then. Don't worry, I don't have too much stuff."
"Give me time to create space for you at least." He muttered.
He looked so nervous as though he was hiding a body in his fridge and he doesn't want me to find out. Too bad for him, I've already thought about this and would go through with it.
The car stopped in front of my apartment minutes later.
"I also have a cat, I hope you're not allergic!" I waved before slamming the door shut. I was surprised that when I got to my flat and looked out the window, his car was still on the spot. I didn't understand what he was waiting for until my front door opened and Denzel marched in.
Oh, seems like he came after me.
"What is it? Did you forget to tell me something?"
"Get your stuff, let's go."
SHELDONDenzel refused to state his reason for suddenly wanting me to come with him to his house so late at night but I followed his instructions anyway because this was what I secretly wanted.I can't keep this deal alive from afar. I wanted to be close to him so he doesn't get tired of me. My future depends on it. He's a big opportunity to get wealthy. He has turned me into a gold digger. We arrived at his house at 10 pm after the stressful packing and gathering of my belongings. He was sweet enough not to help me do the packing. According to him, he doesn't wanna be grossed out by touching my skimpy clothes. I had a majority of those kinds of clothes. I didn't mind because he's going to get used to them very soon. Denzel has been locked up in his bedroom while I went to the kitchen to use the first aid kit. Luckily, the wound wasn't too deep so I knew my way around it. After putting on the plaster, I took a long bath. My bedroom was downstairs and he said it's the only guest roo
SHELDON 'Sabina Debra Fester', my mother's full name was boldly written on the cover of the file. I flipped the first leaf with my heart thumping. There were photos of her with every personal information. And even this file notes that she's late; no longer living, dead, and gone forever. I found her pictures so lovely but they were her old photos. She wasn't this good-looking when I last saw her and watched her casket being lowered into the ground. Then, I saw something that made me freeze. Perhaps I have always been looking for something to hurt me and ruin my peace. There were details of her former jobs and where one included that my mother used to work for Mrs Raven. Within that time frame, I was around three years old. She only worked there for a year before resigning. Why did she resign? I didn't need anyone to tell me Denzel was already in the room and caught me red-handed looking through his briefcase. "I leave you for a while and you're already digging up my belongings."
SHELDON Thunderstorms clapped outside and I got tired of observing it from the window. It's evening time and the skies are dark. It has been raining for the past thirty minutes and Denzel wasn't home yet. He hasn't answered any of my calls or messages. I was curious about how it went with his dad. At that moment, I heard the doorbell ring. I glanced at my cat who was curled up at a corner of the living room. I hope Denzel's ready to behold his cuteness. It took him long enough. But why would he ring the doorbell when this is his place?I left to open the door. I was expecting to see his gloomy self-standing on the other side but to my surprise, more than two pair of eyes were looking back at me — three men dressed in formal outfits. Their suits spoke volumes just like Denzel's style of dressing. This fact was the reason I didn't slam the door and ran for my life. I instantly recognized them as the dashing friends in his file. I had to know in case his family brought it up during t
SHELDON I hated to break it to myself that this miserable night wasn't over. I was still in this house with four annoying guys, a heavy rain going on outside, and an overbearing cousin. Winter suggested she shares her business card with Denzel's friends because it was rare to see sons from wealthy homes in one place. If they ever needed girls for parties, Winter wanted to be the one on speed dial. For her not to humiliate me more, I escorted her to the living room, hating the look from Denzel. He forgets that things are so not cool between us. "...Trust me, my nightclub is the best in this city. I also got the prettiest girls for any service you desire." She said passing the cards to Soren, Gil, and Justin.I didn't know this was how it works and we get clients regularly. She actually straight-up tells people she is a hooker? "Expect my call. That's a promise." Justin stated as he put the card carefully in his breast pocket. "Thank you." Winter smiled warmly before giving me a p
I was enraged when Denzel woke me up and let me know that we had arrived at the church. My eyes were heavy and wanted more rest. I sat up and yawned with my arms stretching toward the roof of the car. When I opened my eyes after a few blinks, Denzel was observing me with an awkward look."What?" I blurted."I have one final request..." He checked his side of the window before turning back to me. "Do not sleep in church." "I'm only human. I can't control how tired I feel." "Considering your type of work, you shouldn't have any problem with being awake. Just imagine you have an early exam right after a night with a client—"I placed a finger over his lips to shut him up. "Living with you is more exhausting than working." "I'm serious, Sheldon. You can't sleep for the next three hours. I should have hid those drinks from you." I flipped; "And let me guess, it's all because of your mother. Your precious golden mom must validate me or there will be chaos." I dramatically rambled. He
"I need to get you home." Those were the last 'calm' words Denzel said to me at his parent's house before we returned to his house. The rest of our dialogue was 'unfriendly'. He was pissed and wished I didn't do that in front of his parents. I felt bad about my outburst too mostly because Mr. Morgan and Hunter were there to see my downfall. Although, I'll rise again."You're being pissed over nothing. I bet your mom you're so worried about doesn't care about what you do with your life." I snapped when the door closed behind us. "That's the other way round." Objected Denzel as he stands close to the wall."Since she already hates me, let's cut off this engagement. But just know, I'm keeping the rings." I blustered."She doesn't hate you." He responded so differently than how he was feeling in the car. He looked defeated."You're lying. I'm a woman, I know the looks in her eyes whenever she looks at me." "Well, you've got nothing to worry about, princess. This engagement is only be
"This piece of art is beautiful," Hunter mentioned as his hand touched one of the paintings by the side. The woman in the painting was on her fours with her back arched low and her behind stretching upward to the thighs of the man behind her. Her face was filled with both pain and pleasure. It's so heavy on her that I felt it just by looking at her. And the one filled with so much passion and emotions was the one Hunter thinks is 'beautiful'. How dare he? "Which one is your favorite, Sheldon?" He asked pointing at them.I drawled close to him and gazed at the paintings. "That one." It was a drawing of a woman lying by the side of the bed and awaiting her lover."I see you don't like all the dirty stuff, huh?" He teased. "I really don't know." I restricted myself from being an open book especially when I know he could implicate me. "That's fine. You like what you like. Sometimes it's hard for me to control what I feel. Too much passion so that's why I prefer the images showing m
"Sheldon, you really know how to dress for a spin in your car." He commented, his eyes flickering over me.I made a faux smile. "I drove to a nightclub because I needed to speak to Winter." "Oh, the same Winter you brought in here last night." He rolled his eyes and leaned on my doorframe. "My friend likes her." "I don't believe that." Denzel cleared his throat before offering in a silky voice; "Need help removing that dress? Although, you can wear it all night." I scoffed. "Why are you suddenly flirting with me? What did that nurse do to you?" "The nurse doesn't even work on Sundays." He burst my bubble most shockingly."Nice move. You made me talk like a crazy woman." I groused kicking my shoes off while I sit on the bed. I really thought he was with her throughout today. His phone started vibrating in his pocket and he slipped it out."This must be a joke. Hunter is calling me. That punk never calls me..." He mumbled.I felt a lurch in my stomach and it was as if a timer was a
