Amelia pov

Damian's expression changed, the slight tightening of his jaw,the coldness settling deeper into his eyes.

The dangerous stillness, something about the message had upset him.

She folded her arms. "Well?"

Damian extended his hand.

"Give me the phone."

Lily laughed. "No."

His gaze hardened. "Lily."

"Don't call me." Lily said.

She stepped closer. "Answer the damn question."

Damian remained silent, the tension in the room grew heavier, servants wisely disappeared. Nobody wanted to be caught in the middle of this.

Especially not when Lily was involved she shoved the phone toward him.

"Look at it."

Damian took the phone.

His eyes scanned the photograph.

His expression darkened,a dangerous look crossed his face.

One I had never seen before. The sight surprised me. Damian looked genuinely angry.

"Oh?" She raised an eyebrow.

"So you didn't send it." She said,

"I didn't." Damian said.

The answer came without hesitation and I kind of believed him.

The message felt cruel, designed specifically to hurt me.

Damian could be cold, but he wasn't cruel,at least not intentionally.

Lily wasn't convinced. "Then who did?"

Damian looked down at the screen again.

His eyes narrowed. "I'll find out."

The statement sounded less like a promise and more like a threat.

A chill ran down my spine. Lily, however, remained unimpressed.

"You should have thought about that before handing her divorce papers." Lily said.

My gaze returned to the image,I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Four days ago, I had been excited about tonight,I spent hours choosing decorations,I was trying to save my marriage.

Meanwhile, Damian was smiling beside Sophia.

The humiliation burned,I took the phone from Lily and deleted the message.

I didn't want to see it anymore. Lily frowned.

"Why delete it?" She asked.

"Because it doesn't matter." I replied.

Both Lily and Damian looked at me.

"It doesn't matter." I repeated myself.

The photograph changed nothing, the divorce papers were still sitting on the table and my marriage was still ending.

The outcome remained exactly the same.

Exhaustion settled over me emotionally.

The one that appears after years of fighting a battle you were never going to win.

I looked at Damian.

"Do you want me to sign tonight?" I asked

A brief silence followed.

His gaze met mine before lowering to the papers.

"That's your decision." He said.

Every major decision in our marriage belonged to him but tonight, suddenly, I had a choice.

Lily squeezed my shoulder. "You don't have to decide now."

I appreciated the support but my heart already knew the truth. Keeping the marriage wouldn't make Damian love me and delaying the divorce wouldn't change anything.

Some endings simply couldn't be avoided.

Slowly, I reached for the pen lying beside the documents.

Lily stopped speaking and just stared. I stared at the signature line.

Amelia Hart Blackwood,a name I carried proudly.

I lowered the pen and signed.

The scratching sound seemed unnaturally loud.

When I finished, I placed the pen down.

And just like that, three years ended.

I pushed the documents toward Damian,he looked down at my signature.

Lily wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

"We're leaving." Lily said.

This time, I nodded, there was nothing left for me here,no reason to stay.

I turned away from Damian.

The movement felt strangely liberating.

As though invisible chains were finally breaking.

Halfway to the doorway, Damian suddenly spoke.

"Amelia." He called out.

My footsteps stopped automatically.

I turned around.

"What?" I said.

Damian Blackwood never hesitated but now, he seemed unable to find the words.

Eventually, he simply said, "Take care of yourself."

The statement stunned me because it was the closest thing to concern he had shown in years.

A bitter smile touched my lips.

"You too." I said and left.

Outside, the night air felt cold against my skin.

Lily guided me toward her car,I was halfway inside when my phone rang again.

The unknown Number again. "Don't answer." Lily said.

Something made me pause,a strange feeling of curiosity

I answered. "Hello?"

Nobody spoke, then a woman's voice drifted through the line.

A voice I recognized immediately from interviews and television appearances.

Sophia Laurent,a chill ran through me.

"Mrs. Blackwood." The title sounded deliberate, like she was mocking me.

I gripped the phone tighter. "What do you want?" I asked

A gentle laugh came from the other end.

"I wanted to congratulate you."

"On what?" I asked

She chuckled softly. "On finally signing the divorce papers." She said,

Lily's expression changed instantly because she could hear Sophia's voice through the speaker, but Sophia wasn't finished.

Her next words sent ice through my veins.

"Although..."

"I should probably thank you for giving him back to me."

The line went dead,I stared at the phone speechless.

A terrifying question entered my mind.

How did Sophia know I had signed the divorce papers...

Only minutes after it happened?

  • The Wife He Divorced Became A Billionaire Heiress    CHAPTER 118

Amelia's POVAdrian remained kneeling before me, the ring catching the ballroom's golden light, hundreds of guests watching in complete, breathless silence as he waited for whatever answer I intended to offer."Amelia." He said again, his voice steady. "Will you spend the rest of your life with me?"I stood there for a long moment, reflecting building throughout me, the pressure of hundreds of watching guests, allowing myself proper space to examine exactly what this question meant, exactly what answer felt right rather than expected or convenient.I thought about everything I'd overcome throughout this year. The devastating divorce that once felt like complete destruction of everything I understood about my own worth. The gradual, difficult process of discovering strength I never previously recognized within myself. Sophia's calculated cruelty, proving less powerful than my own resilience and determination.I thought about Damian's apology, his gradual attempt toward meaningful chang

Amelia's POVI stood backstage, reviewing my prepared remarks one final time while the evening's earlier festivities continued beyond the curtain, guests mingling throughout the ballroom in anticipation of the celebration's central address."You look remarkably composed." Lily said, appearing beside me with her usual warm confidence. "Considering this represents closing out one of the most transformative years of your entire life.""I've had practice managing composure under pressure these past several months." I said, offering a small smile despite the nervous energy building beneath my exterior."You've earned every ounce of tonight's celebration." She said firmly. "Don't you dare downplay that."I nodded, gratitude forming throughout my chest at her consistent, unwavering support throughout this remarkable journey. The event coordinator signaled my introduction was beginning, and I made my way toward the stage, the grand ballroom's audience settling into attentive silence as I step

  • The Wife He Divorced Became A Billionaire Heiress    CHAPTER 116

Damian's POVThe letter arrived through formal legal channels, more official than I expected given everything else that had transpired between Amelia and myself these several months. Marcus placed it on my desk that Tuesday morning, he showed careful neutrality despite obviously understanding its likely contents."This came through Hart Global's legal counsel." He said. "Addressed specifically to you."I opened it slowly, scanning through the formal language until I reached the section that mattered.‘This correspondence serves to formally confirm that Miss Amelia Hart has no interest in pursuing personal reconciliation with Mr. Damian Blackwood. Any future communications regarding personal matters should be directed through appropriate professional channels only, given the finalized nature of their previous marriage and divorce.’I sat back, reading through the formal notice a second time, but the underlying meaning remained unchanged regardless of how many times I processed the leg

  • The Wife He Divorced Became A Billionaire Heiress     CHAPTER 115

Amelia's POVThe ballroom looked different on a Saturday afternoon, sunlight streaming through the tall windows rather than the golden evening light I remembered from the charity gala months earlier, the space entirely empty except for staff setting up for what smaller private event Adrian had mentioned. He met me near the entrance, dressed casually for once, none of his usual formal business attire, something more relaxed evident throughout his entire demeanor."You made it." He said, "Of course." I said, glancing around the empty space. "This feels different without hundreds of guests filling every corner.""Doesn't it?" He said, guiding me further into the ballroom. "I thought it might be nice to see it properly, without all the noise and spectacle from that first evening."We walked slowly through the space, memories surfacing naturally as we passed familiar landmarks from that particular night. The stage where I delivered my opening remarks, more nervous than I allowed myself to

  • The Wife He Divorced Became A Billionaire Heiress    CHAPTER 114

Amelia's POVI drove home slowly that evening, the ring resting in my coat pocket, its familiar weight carrying different significance now than it had during those final devastating hours of my marriage.I climbed the stairs toward my bedroom once I arrived, moving directly toward the small wooden box Lily had helped me select all those months ago, back when I first removed the ring and needed somewhere appropriate to store it.I opened the box carefully, finding it empty exactly as I left it, waiting patiently these past several months for whatever eventual purpose it might serve.I held the ring for a long moment, studying it carefully under my bedroom's soft lighting, reflection building throughout my chest as I considered everything it represented. The woman who had once treasured this ring, who had worn it with hope and devotion throughout three years of marriage, believing patience alone might eventually earn love and appreciation, no longer existed. She had been replaced gradua

  • The Wife He Divorced Became A Billionaire Heiress    CHAPTER 113

Amelia's POVThe café Priya arranged for Thursday's meeting occupied a corner near the harbor, removed from either of our usual business circles, exactly the kind of neutral, unassuming space that felt appropriate with everything this conversation needed to address.Damian was already seated when I arrived, dressed more casually than I witnessed him throughout recent months, his usual tailored composure replaced by something quieter, more vulnerable than his business persona usually allowed."Thank you for coming." He said, standing as I approached the table."Of course." I said, settling into my chair across from him.We sat in comfortable silence for a moment, a server appearing to take our drink orders before retreating, leaving us alone amid the café's evening atmosphere."I want to start by saying something clearly." Damian said finally. "I'm not here to ask for another chance, Amelia."I studied him, surprise crossing my expression given how thoroughly this framing differed from
