Masuk“Are you going somewhere?" Callista yawned, rubbing her eyes as she settled into the couch.
“I have an interview," Valeria replied. “I told you I'd be getting a job soon." “An interview," Callista repeated. “Shouldn't you be feeling nervous? You look happy like you're assured of the job." Valeria laughed lightly. “Actually, I'm happy because I'd be meeting my husband today." Callista almost choked on her coffee. “Already?" Valeria nodded. “We talked last night and arranged to meet later today." Callista smiled. “That's good. I hope you like him." “I will," Valeria replied quickly, too quickly. She hurried up and left the house, after giving her friend a peck on the cheek. *** By 6:40a.m, Valeria is standing in front of the only skyscraper in the city. The morning sun casted warm glow on its glass, and it casted a light on her gray eyes. “This is it," Valeria whispers, straightening her dress before walking in. “Sofia Cliff?” The receptionist asked. " Yes,” Valeria lied. She knew her father and Mr Wilson would try to sabotage her chances of getting a job, so she had to change her name. "Mr Crest will see you in this office now,” she said. " This way,” another young corporately dressed lady gestured, leading the way. The elevator opened on the thirty sixth floor and she followed the lady down the hallway. They stopped in front of a double door made of oak, the lady tapped once and a deep voice answered. " Enter,” The lady turned to Valeria. " You can go in.” Before Valeria could ask any question, the lady walked away, leaving her shaking. She inhaled deeply and let herself in. Her gaze settled on the black sleek name plate on the desk, with the name ‘IVAN CREST’. She approached the desk where a young man dressed in a clean and shiny white shirt sat. Air left her lungs when he looked up and met her gaze with a smile that could send a woman into cardiac arrest. “You're here for the position of an executive assistant?" He asked, his green eyes narrowed as his smile broadened. Valeria nodded nervously. “Yes, sir." “You're hired." “What?" Valeria's eyes widened. “No interview?" “Well, I'm in one of my good moods, so it's your lucky day." Valeria stood confused, as he reached for his phone and dialed a number. The line connected. I'd like to make a reservation for two,” he said. Valeria stared at him, not paying attention to his discussion on the phone. She wondered what could make him so happy. She stared so hard that she didn't notice when he ended the call. "So, walk me through my schedule for today," he gestured to the tablet in front of her. Valeria snapped out of her shock. " Oh, right,” she said, fumbling with the tablet. He leaned back on his chair, his chest spread into an impossible sculpted shape she'd ever seen, his facial features looked like they were carved with precision. “Uhm…you,” her voice trailed off, as she fought the urge to look into his eyes that stayed in her the whole time. " You have a meeting with Vodkov International, this morning.” He swirled slowly in his chair, his gaze not leaving her. "At 12p.m, you have lunch with the C.E.O of Mictech—” " Clear my schedule from 12p.m,” he cuts in. Valeria paused. " I…should —" “I have a date with my wife later today, I want to spend the rest of the day preparing." Valeria nodded slowly. “Oh, okay." She was intrigued by his reaction, wondering if her mystery husband was this excited to meet her. “Newly married, so…,” he added. "Oh, I see,” Valeria realized, her eyes drifting to the shiny ring on his finger. "I'm sure you understand the thrill, since you're newly married too,” he continued, looking at the shiny knock off ring she found in her bag. "Of course,” she chuckled nervously. The day went on with work, Ivan ended up doing more than he had planned for the day but still made time to be on his phone. This bought Valeria enough time to also be on the phone with her mystery husband. “Sort this out," Ivan said, pointing at some old files stacked on his desk. Before Valeria could ask further questions, he had already stepped out. “Hey, Noona. How was your trip?" “It was hectic but I landed safe." “That's good to hear." “So…have you been able to meet with her?” " I will, later today.” " That's good. You shouldn't delay things.” Ivan laughed. " Slow down Noona, let's take it slowly.” “You can't blame me, Treasure. A Romano goes for what he wants, it's in the blood." Ivan chuckled. “I'll call you after I meet with her." The call ended and he stepped back into the office. The day went on with the normal office activity, but Ivan wouldn't stop checking his watch. Neither did Valeria. At 5p.m, he stood and reached for his jacket. “Let's call it a day." Valeria was more than happy, since she gets the time to get ready before meeting with her mystery husband. They stepped out of the office building together, with Valeria clutching tightly to her purse. “Why don't you hop in, I'll drop you along the way," Ivan offered. Without hesitation, Valeria climbed into the back of the car. This would help her get home faster. The ride was quiet and tense, Ivan stayed on his phone and Valeria kept replying to the text of her mystery husband. Valeria would have been relieved to know that her boss was heading to the direction of her house, but it unsettled her. She thought about it. It wouldn't be nice if her boss finds out where she stayed, it was too soon. The driver took another turn and entered Valeria's street, making it possible for her to see her house from where they were. Just then, Valeria's phone buzzed and lit up with a message from her mystery husband. Valeria almost choked. Her boss can't find out she's married to someone she has never met. “Uhm, sir," she called softly. "It seems you're familiar with this side of town.” Ivan chuckled nervously. He can't let his employee know he's meeting his wife for the first time, he'd look like a joker. "Not really,” he replied. "I'm here to pick up something, then I'll head straight to my wife.” Valeria nodded. "How about you?" “Me? Oh, I want to stop by an old relative's place." He nodded. “I see," he replied, before turning his attention back to his phone. Valeria's phone buzzed with another message. She froze on impact, her hands frozen mid-air, her brain went numb, even the air froze. Everything stopped moving, even time seemed to have stopped. He shifted his weight and grabbed the back of her neck, pulling her in for a deeper penetration. Her instinct screamed at her to stop him, to push him away, to remind him of the boundaries he wanted. But her hands moved while she was still thinking of her next action, landing on his chest. Before her brain could give permission, she found herself kissing him back. One of his hands held the back of her neck, holding her head in place, the other hand found her waist, grabbing it a little too tight. They continued to explore each other's month, not hungrily, but with all the care and gentleness in the world.Slowly, he let his hand on her waist slip further, lingering on her ass cheek, then down to her bare thighs. He dug his fingers slightly into her thigh before moving his hand back to her ass cheek, not breaking the kiss.As soon as his h
As soon as their lips met, they froze, Ivan's hands instinctively went to her waist, holding her.Valeria's eyes widened with both shock and surprise.Shocked that this even happened in the first place, and surprised that he didn't push her away. She pushed herself out of his grip, staggering back.“I….I'm sorry sir, I'm very sorry,” she went on.Ivan didn't utter a word, he just stood there watching her with an unsettling calmness while she was falling apart.Valeria dropped her gaze but never stopped apologizing.“I should have been careful," she continued. “I'm sorry, it wasn't intentional." He still didn't say a word, but she could feel his eyes on her. She couldn't tell if he was angry or too shocked to speak. Slowly, she began to lift her head, then finally she met his gaze.He scoffed slightly, and gestured to the door with his head. “The gift." Valeria blinked rapidly, surprised at his calm reaction. This was someone who was trying so hard to set boundaries, someone who had
As soon as he hit the send button, Valeria shifted in her bed. He immediately ended the call and moved toward her.Hovering over her, he finally let his hand cup her face.“I'm only doing this because I'm worried," he told himself. She moved her head slightly, then slowly began to open her eyes. Her vision was blurry at first, but soon it cleared and steadied on him.“Hey," he whispered. “You're awake." Her eyes suddenly opened wide.“Mr Crest?" He nodded. “Doctor said you'll—" She didn't let him finish when she sat up quickly on the bed.“Take it easy Mrs Ravelle, you don't —" “I'm very sorry sir," she apologized, already getting down from the bed. “I’m okay to go now." Ivan watched her, confused.“You can't leave just yet." She shook her head.“I'm fine, we need to get back to work." “There is no work," he said. She paused briefly. “But…I—”"I finished the work before coming here,” he lied."You did what?” She asked, her voice low but apologetic. " I'm very sorry I let you—”
After hours of waiting, the doctor finally came out.“You can go in and see her now," he told Ivan.It took everything in Ivan to prevent himself from shoving the doctor, and dashing into her room. When he stepped into the room, his gaze immediately fell on her unconscious form, then slowly he strode toward her bed.Ivan remained by her bedside, his gaze fixed on her unconscious form, the steady beep of the monitor and the soft hiss of the oxygen filled the silence of the room, but he barely noticed. All he could see was her. For the first time, he truly looked at her, not as his assistant, not as Mrs. Ravelle, but as the woman lying fragile before him.Her face was pale under the hospital light, it held a delicate beauty that had always been hidden behind composure and work. Her long lashes rested lightly on her cheeks, soft and curved, her lips slightly parted as she breathed. Even in sleep, even in weakness, she had a beauty that drew his attention in a way no woman ever had. He
Ivan looked up from his file and froze, a page slipped off his finger tips. For a second, it looked like he was waiting for her to move.To push herself up like she always did, but she didn’t.“Sofia,” he called quietly, dropping the file on the table. “Get up.”She didn't move.“If this is a prank," he continued, striding towards her slowly. “It's going to earn you a suspension." When she still did not move, that was when he knew she wasn't joking around. In three steps he crossed the room and stopped beside her and looked down. She was completely still, not the kind of stillness that came with rest. This was different. He crouched, his hand reached out and tapped her shoulder once.“Mrs Ravelle." She still did not move, not a bit.His fingers moved to her wrist, he felt her pulse and discovered it was weak. Too weak. His expression did not change much, but panic blazed in his eyes.He straightened immediately.“Hannah,” he called out, his deep voice echoed through the silence of t
As soon as she hit the floor, he looked down at her with an unreadable expression, his gaze lingering over her very briefly. Then he walked past her without an apology, like nothing had happened.“Watch where you're going," he said over his shoulder." I'm sorry, sir,” she responded quickly, scrambling to her feet as she gathered her scattered bag.He did not respond. Her fingers tightened slightly around her bag before she forced herself to breathe. She kept telling herself that it was fine, that everything was fine, that was what she had decided. She straightened, adjusted her grip on her bag and headed to the small storage room to get her belongings. Most of the staff had already left, and the whole building felt strange and too quiet after such a tense dayShe retrieved her bag, slung it over her shoulder, and walked out of the building.Upon reaching the exit of the premises, she heard a voice.“Sofia." She froze, blinked severally, like her brain was trying to process something

Valeria trembled and bolted upstairs.Ivan stood by the dinning, his chest heaving as he breathed heavily. His hands were folded into a fist.“Come on, Ivan. You have to calm down." "No…no,” he staggered back, his hands searching for the table for support. "She…she has to go,” he fired, his whole
