登入“Don’t mind her, new girl.” The young girl beamed at me. “Old Gisela’s bark is worse than her bite. Although she'll whip you if you disobey her.” She was a pretty, petite girl with bouncy blonde curls peeping from under the cap she wore. A sprinkle of freckles adorned her button nose, and her large brown eyes were warm and friendly. “We’d better get going. Come.”
“You don’t look like a wolf,” I blurted out as I followed her to get cleaning supplies.
She giggled. “And you don’t look like a hunter. But I don’t have a wolf.” Her mouth turned down, and she looked sad. “I am an omega. Without a wolf. So, basically, I am human, as far as the pack is concerned.”
“Is that a bad thing?” I was human too.
She looked over her shoulder and back at me with an expression I was all too familiar with – fear. “Shh! They’re coming. Take the mop. Wait here, I’ll fill the bucket with water. Don’t move and keep your head down.” She hurried away and left me alone to worry who ‘they’ were and why she was so afraid of them. Sophie was one of them, wasn’t she? Even though she considered herself to be basically human.
I found out who ‘they’ were promptly. Two men and a girl. From the way they dressed, I guessed they were ranked wolves. I tried to hide in the shadows, but my scent gave me away. One man pulled me from my hiding place and the mop dropped to the floor.
“I thought I smelled a human.” He grinned, showing a mouthful of gleaming teeth. “Hey, don’t look away,” he said as he grabbed my face. “She’s pretty.” He dragged me to show his friends. “Why haven’t we seen her here before?"
“Isn’t she the one the king bought?” the girl asked, lifting my hair from my neck. “Hmm, someone had a taste of her,” she giggled, noticing the purple bruise on my neck which I tried to hide with my hair.
“No, I don’t think she’s the one. Why would she be here in a maid’s uniform?” the other man said. He came closer and smelled my neck. “Let’s take her back to our room. She can do some cleaning there.”
The three of them laughed, and I didn’t like the way it sounded.
“I- I’m supposed to help Sophie…” I protested.
What should I say? Should I tell them who I was? But I couldn’t, afraid they might hurt me.
“Oh.” the dark-haired man said, pouting his lips. “Well, I suppose then we shouldn’t keep you.” But he wasn’t letting go of me.
The girl was behind me, playing with my hair. She leaned over and licked my cheek. “Hmm. You taste good,” she purred into my ear.
“Lola, you’re such a tease!” the other guy holding me laughed. “Just look at her face.”
Her hands slid to my breasts. I tried to pull away, but she squeezed hard, and I cried out.
“Such a baby! Feel how soft she is, Ferdi.” She pushed me to him, into his chest.
“What the fuck are you doing?” That thunderous voice lashed over us and they released me so abruptly that I lost my balance and fell to their feet.
“My king!” Three voices rang out simultaneously, their heads bowed.
“Explain yourselves!” he roared. He emerged out of the shadows like a specter.
“We were just playing, your Excellence. This new maid…” the dark-haired man began, but the Lycan interrupted him with a wave of his hand.
“Erina! Get up and come to me.”
I scurried to my feet and hurried to him, careful not to look at him directly. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Sophie ducking into an alcove.
“This slave belongs to me.” His eyes flashed lightning bolts over the three of them. “Let me be specific. No one touches her. Do you understand?”
“Yes, yes, of course, my king.” They all affirmed. Keeping their heads down, they stayed that way until the Lycan turned on his heel.
“Come!” he addressed me and I had to run to keep up with him as he made his way up the broad stone staircase.
At the second landing, I was out of breath and had to stop. I just couldn’t carry on any further. When he realized I wasn’t following, he turned back and lifted me over his shoulder, carrying me the rest of the way. “You’re unfit,” he said. “I’ll have to do something about that.”
I wouldn’t dream of asking what he meant by that.
He took me to another room, a library, from what I could see being carried upside down. I was dizzy.
“I leave you alone for a second and you get yourself in trouble,” he said when he put me down.
A second? I looked at him in astonishment. Had he been there all that time watching me?
He strode to a corner of the room, where a fire blazed in the gigantic stone fireplace, but which did little to heat the vast room. I stood awestruck by the immensity of the place. Bookcases reaching up to the domed ceiling. A spiral staircase led up to a second floor that went almost right around. The comfortable couches and chairs that invited one to curl up with a book… How long has it been since I had the simple pleasure of reading?
The Lycan’s harsh tone slapped me out of my daze. “Did you swallow your tongue?” he asked, his eyes narrowing.
“No, Master.” I rubbed my sweaty palms off on the dress, dreading what he planned.
“What in hell’s name are you wearing? Why are you dressed like a maid?” He circled, inspecting me.
My voice wavered. “This was the clothes y-you had Gisela bring me.” Wasn’t that what he wanted?
He shook his head. “Well, this won’t do. No matter. Take it off.”
“W-what?” No…
“Take. It. Off. All of it.”
I knew if I didn’t do as he said, he would rip the clothes off my body. The fire heated the surroundings, but still my skin broke out in goosebumps and my nipples pebbled under his scrutiny as I peeled off the uniform. He scooped the clothes up in one hand and threw them into the fire. The fabric sizzled and curled in the flames in a strange dance. It gave off a sweet smell, like burned sugar. I kept my eyes on the flames.
“You are not a maid. You’re my slave. Do you know what that means, Erina?” His voice sounded less thunderous.
I shook my head and caught his eye. The way he looked at me made me want to sink into the floor.
“Well, you will find out.” He sat down on a couch next to the fireplace. His eyes became a strange opaque color, only for a few seconds, and then they returned to the stormy gray again. “Come here.” He beckoned with his finger, suggesting the space between his legs. It was too close.
“M-master?”
“E-erina…” he mocked me. “Come. Here. Do not make me repeat myself.”
I moved like a puppet and took my place in front of his couch. He pulled me closer, so I was standing right between his thighs. I could hardly breathe. How would I ever survive this?
ErinaI didn’t stop to think about what happened. This new power inside left no room for emotions, no regrets, no mercy. It burned through the two females as if they were nothing but paper. Somewhere high above me, I heard Magnus spurring me on to run.Ran through the tilting ground. Jumped over boulders that materialized out of thin air. Sharp rocks sliced at my feet. Thorny bushes ripped at my skin. I ignored the pain.“I’m going to win,” was the mantra I repeated in my head. And all the while the blood moon peered through the thickening clouds, watching with cold indifference the destruction I had left behind. The Pillar of Power loomed in the distance. A giant finger of rock pointing toward heaven. No matter how fast I ran, it felt out of reach. I pushed harder. Ran faster until my lungs burned and my legs buckled.“Don’t fail. Never give up.” I pushed on.Black clouds moved in faster, and thunder rolled over the mountaintops. The night became a living thing, eating the moon’s ora
MagnusSabelle had gone just as imperceptibly as she had appeared, releasing the crowd from her freezing spell. I had yielded to her demands to protect Erina, but I was done being manipulated by that witch. I would use her to get rid of the High Council, but after that, her head will decorate the castle wall. If there was any sign that Erina would fail, I was going to save her. I didn’t trust Sabelle. Erina could resent me all she wanted. I don’t give a damn. Her life was more important than her pride.“Can you see anything? Where is she?” Eric’s anxious voice snapped me out of my dark thoughts of death and revenge. He leaned precariously over the edge to peer at the shifting labyrinth below. She was alive. Exhausted but alive. I felt her emotions through our link. Just the right amount of fear made her cautious but didn’t overwhelm her. She was brave, but I have always known that about her.“She’s strong,” I said, pulling Eric back before he toppled over the edge. “We have to give he
ErinaThe change happened seamlessly. One moment I was the wolf backed into a corner, the next I was in my human form. Bruised and battered, but surprisingly in one piece. I didn’t have a second to waste. Thank God for Magnus teaching me to mask my scent. I hid behind the rubble of a fallen statue, crouching in the dust, barely breathing. The wolves moved about, confused by my sudden disappearance.I needed a weapon. My eyes scanned the chaos for anything I could use. I heard them sniffing and pawing at the place where I had been a few moments ago. Frustrated growls reached me as they searched in vain. I prayed they wouldn’t hear my frantic beating heart. As if in answer to my prayer, the ground trembled beneath my feet. The labyrinth was in a constant state of change, shifting with the moving ground. A narrow corridor opened to my right, and I slipped through the crack.Run. Find the exit, get to the Pillar of Power, and the Bloodstone. Once there, I would stand a better chance of su
ErinaPain was irrelevant when your life was at stake. She fought like a demon. Despite having the other wolf’s canines embedded in her right leg. Despite the tearing of sinew, muscle and bone. The bigger wolf pinned her, suffocating us with its weight. Ribs cracked under pressure. Putrid breath, saliva dripping from the wolf’s snarling maw while my wolf struggled to avoid the snapping canines. Was this how it ended? Being torn apart by power-hungry she-wolves? Another woman holding my child, making love to my mate? Would he take another? He said he would follow me into the underworld. No! I refused to give up. My baby needed me, needed both of us.I summoned every ounce of my strength and poured it into my wolf. She got away from under the larger wolf. Where was the moon fire? Why couldn’t I control it? I needed it now! Did I use it all?The runes were still there, glowing faintly on my skin. But my wolf was fading fast. She was exhausted. Blood loss had taken its toll. The wolves we
MagnusFrustration consumed me. Sitting there on this stone throne, watching while my mate was down in the labyrinth fighting for her life. I shouldn’t have let this happen. Should’ve fought harder for her from the start. I had a lot of regrets, done so many things differently. Erina had changed me. That is undeniable. She was the ruler of my heart, my end and my beginning. I would rather die than lose her.“They could’ve at least allowed the drones,” Hein grumbled next to me, pulling me out of my musings. “How are we supposed to see what’s happening?” he sounded almost as frustrated as I felt.Alpha Klaus and his circus had scrambled all my plans. There was nothing I could have done on such short notice to help Erina. Well played, Klaus, but it still won’t stop me from ending all of you.“It’s against tradition,” I sneered. “Funny how they use that word when it suits them.”Hein mumbled an agreement. Servants moved between the stone seats like shadows, offering heated wine to my ‘gue
The light of the moon did not reach into the labyrinth. It was a darkness that threatened to suffocate, reeking of death and forgotten time. My wolf ran, light-footed, jumping over obstacles, masking our scent as we’ve learned. Five minutes wasn’t a long time. The ground was constantly shifting, making new passages and new dead ends. As we moved, I still felt them, my family, our connection through our bond, keeping me grounded, telling me they believed in me. And Magnus, his love, surrounding me like a shield of warmth. I held onto that as my wolf surged through the darkness.‘Keep moving,’ I spurred the wolf on. ‘Find the exit.’She sprinted down a long, dark corridor that seemed to go on forever. The passage split into two different paths. For a few seconds, we stood indecisive.‘Choose,’ I told the wolf, depending on her instincts. She dashed down the left path. We had gone but a few feet when suddenly the ground shook and gave way to a deep chasm. She stopped just in time.A figu
MagnusThe light from outside the casino bathed the room in a soft, pulsing rhythm as I held Erina in my arms. The sound of music floated in on the ocean breeze, entering through the open sliding doors. I held her softly, taking my time to trace the contours of her face. The face I’ve missed so mu
ErinaI didn’t want this to end. In his arms, it was as if the past didn’t matter. But I knew we had to return to Black Rock Castle, where I would have to face all of them. Hein, Daphne and Gisela. I hid my face in his shoulder, pretending it was still dark and that the sun wasn’t glaring through t
“Where are you going?” I watched as he picked his clothes from the floor while I was still throbbing from my release, his cum spilling down my thighs. There was no cuddling, no whispered words of love. He hurried.“I have guests,” he said as he pulled on his pants. “Stay here. I’ll send a servant w
Elise’s shoulders shook as she sobbed into the pillow. She lifted a mascara-streaked face to me, her voice breaking. “You’re going back on your word?” The pitiful cries coming from deep within her chest… it was hard to hear. I didn’t want her to hurt this much. Wanted to explain, but she was too lo
