Magnus

The slave traders moved around a lot, never staying in one location for long. My scouts have alerted me to their current location, and that was where Hein and I were on our way to surprise them. Of course, it wouldn’t have been them that attacked the packs and taken the pups. They were opportunists, not mercenaries. But they paid well for slaves and weren’t particular about where they came from.

They camped near a river in a clearing far from the quiet town of Mittenwald. The smoke of their campfire and the sound of their wild music led us right to their hideout. Hein parked the SUV next to their trucks. Their leader, a burly, aging wolf with an unkempt beard, emerged from a trailer and came towards us. When he recognized me, he fell to his knees. “Excellence, what can your humble servant do for you?”

“What have you got for me, Silas?” I pushed his shoulder with the toe of my boot. “Anything interesting?”

He got to his feet with a sly smile. “Depends on what your tastes are, my

ErinaWhen Magnus didn’t come to fetch me like he said he would, I became restless and decided to go down on my own. Why should I stay cooped up in my room waiting for him? I was no longer his slave. I could go wherever I pleased. The food the servant brought me made me feel ill. Were they trying to poison me? I thought it might be the mistresses, because who else would want to get rid of me? I couldn’t stand the smell of it, so I left it untouched. As I rounded the corner on the second landing, a hand, firm yet gentle, clamped over my mouth and pulled me into an alcove.“It’s me. Don’t scream,” his warm breath whispered into my ear and his familiar spicy scent embraced me. “I just had to see you, Erina.”“Hein! You shouldn’t be here.” My voice, a hushed tremor, barely registered above the frantic drumming of my heart against my ribs. “What if Magnus finds you here? What if someone sees you with me?!” He held me so close, so warm in contrast to the cold stone at my back.“I miss you

MagnusBeing with Erina brought some comfort to my distressed mind. Probing Ignatius’ mind proved more difficult and upsetting than I could have imagined. All those memories of Victoria… I wished I had never seen it. I thought I had long banished her from my mind, but who was I fooling? Seeing her with him was torture, but feeling his emotions even more so. The man’s mind was definitely twisted. Even more than mine. But there was one piece of information I received from this – a name. It wasn’t much to go on, but it was all I had. I could try again at a later stage. Too much could kill him, and I didn’t want him to die. Not yet.Waiting for my commander and his captains in the war room, I found the information I was searching for on my cellphone. From Ignatius’ earlier rantings about DNA and wanting to save the werewolf pups from our ‘curse’, paired with the name I got from his mind, I was certain I had the right place.Hein and his captains arrived, their animated chatter preceding t

ErinaAn empty bed, but it was alright. His scent surrounded me. I smiled to myself, content that I had achieved what I set out to do. He belonged to me now. I was no longer his slave. Would he be vulnerable now? Would he send those mistresses of his packing? He didn’t promise me. I wouldn’t fool myself into thinking I held a position of power in his kingdom now that I have marked him. Not that I wanted to be his queen, to rule by his side. I didn’t want that.I only wanted him to love me. Only me. Not Victoria or Elise or anyone else. What would they do if they knew? They’d probably want to kill me. I giggled. Poor Elise. She’s so smitten with him. They all were. He had that animal magnetism, there was no doubt. I was just as susceptible to it. But now he was mine. Did that make me selfish?I slid out of bed, needing the bathroom. My dress lay in tatters in the other room. I had to go back to my bedroom to shower and dress before he came to look for me, because he would. Grabbing hi

She lay sprawled on my chest when I woke up the next morning. I wasn’t sure how many hours had passed. Had I slept an entire day away? Time didn’t exist when we were together. She was amazing. Erina had marked me. My brain tried to process the information. It felt unreal. I let her mark me. Did I feel different? I was still alive. Still immortal. The world hadn’t ended. So much for the prophecy, then.I turned on my side, careful not to wake her. Serene in sleep, the dark lashes kissing her cheekbones, her mouth so gentle, her long hair covering her like a blanket. I got up and went to the bathroom. The proof was there where my neck met my shoulder. Her mark. I traced the shape with my fingers, to familiarize myself with it. Blue. It was a blue rose. When I returned, she was still sleeping. I got dressed and slipped out of the bedroom. On my way to the dungeons, the servants and pack members I passed greeted me as usual. Nothing changed.Ignatius sat on a bed of straw in the corner of

MagnusI kicked the door closed with my heel as I entered my bedroom. If this is what it takes to keep this little witch, I will let her mark me. There was no other way. For she drove me insane with her demands. All or nothing. Who the fuck did she think she was?I wanted to break her into pieces, devour her, make her think of no one else but me. Especially not Hein. Forget about him.I brought her. I took her virginity.I made her mine. She was mine.Soft hands held onto my neck, tears still shining like pearls on her cheeks. She needed to be showered with diamonds and sapphires to match her eyes. To be dressed in silk and furs.I must have totally lost my mind to think like that. But what I liked her more was having her naked and wet underneath me. When I held her, no one else existed but her. She had bewitched me, my enemy’s daughter. Mine.“Magnus?” her soft voice penetrated my lust-induced mind. She touched my face, and I leaned into her palm. “What is going on in that mind of y

He called me his little mate. It made my heart leap with hope, but I couldn’t quite trust him. Would he leave them for me?Up the stairs, we went and into his private lounge, next to his bedroom. So he wanted to talk? He deposited me rather roughly onto a couch and shut the door to his bedroom. He went to his liquor cabinet, took two crystal glasses and a decanter of amber liquid and placed it on the coffee table. He sat next to me on the couch, one arm slung over the backrest, his body half turned to me. “You want to mark me?” he asked.“Do you want me to?” The way he looked at me made me uncomfortable. His expression was challenging.“I want an answer, not a question. You called me a coward.” Just a statement. There was no accusation in his tone.I looked down at my hands in my lap. “I called you selfish, too.”“Yes, I am selfish and possessive of what I own.” He didn’t make a move towards me, but his deep voice flowed over me like a physical touch.I lifted my head to look at him.
