An irritated frown etched on Emma’s face as the door to the bar room opened. Out came a bunch of clients that looked to be in their late twenties, carrying with them the loud music of the room. One of them looked at Emma before they passed her by and gave her a small smile. Although she smiled back, her reluctance was never more apparent. It had been five hours since she began the shift, and if she survived one more hour she could happily get back home.
Hotel Plaza was a respectable place where the rich frequented. However, the downside of it was that it also gave access to idiots who wouldn’t hesitate to convert the place into a frat house. The bar, which was usually meant to enjoy a drink or two, now turned into a blow out party place, seeing how it was men and women in their twenties and early thirties that frequented this place.
As soon as Emma recognised him, her first instinct was to close the door shut and flee the place. But Jamie was much too swift. Before she could as much as take a step back, Jamie appeared before her, yanking her into the room before closing the door behind her.“Where are you trying to escape?” He hissed before he took possession of her wrists and pinned them behind her. Pressing his body against her, he pushed backwards on the door, trapping her.“What the hell are you doing here?” She screamed, trying to fight off his hold on her.In any other circumstance, she would’ve easily gotten herself free. She was stronger than most men she encountered in her life, thanks to her supernatural abilities. But she stood no chance against
To say his mate was an infuriating woman would be an understatement.Nobody ever stuck up to him the way she did, even after realizing how dangerous he could be. She had to be daft to be picking a bone with him, for she had no reason to be that courageous. Or did she? When he first saw her, he assumed her to be like every other woman that fancied him. Shallow and timid. Jamie wished that she was a weak woman who could be easier for him to hate and eventually forget, but Emma was proving to be anything but that. She was a woman who knew how to stand up for herself in the face of adversity and be the perfect companion to a man like Jamie.Jamie clasped his eyes shut and groaned. Noticing his behavior, Tom threw him a careful glance. “What’s with you?&rd
When the last of the boxes were delivered safely into the living room, Emma finally took a breather. Propelling herself onto the cushion of her new flat, she closed her eyes for a few seconds, trying to regain the strength she’d lost in carrying up the giant boxes to the first floor. When Elena agreed to let her move in, she didn’t waste any more time lurking in her apartment. Although she had a few more days on her lease, she didn’t feel safe to live in a house that gave easy access to werewolves. Emma’s apartment would be no different, she knew, but she counted on the fact that her new company would ward off any evil plan Jamie might be plotting against her. After all, he wouldn’t risk exposing himself to another person. When Elena opened her eyes, she couldn’t help but groan at the h
“Jamie?” She said in disbelief. “What are you doing here?”Annoyance surfaced on his features as he stepped closer toward her. With his torso pressing against the counter, he leaned in so he could rest his forearms on the counter before his eyes arrested hers. “Who was that, Emma?”She frowned, momentarily intimidated by his intensity. Although she had no reason to feel that way, she felt as if she was caught doing something illegal. “Who?”“The guy who just tried to get into your pants.”Her mouth fell open. The audacity he had!“He didn’t try to-“ S
When it was past midnight, the alarm in Elena’s mind went off.Her best friend and roommate was not answering her calls nor was she texting her back. The last she heard of her was in the afternoon after her lunch, when she told her that she would be headed home right after work. This was very unusual of her, as Emma always made it a point to inform her whenever her plans changed or she was running late.Something was not right, she knew it. But what were her options right now? She didn’t have her boss’ contact number. Any friends Emma had were Elena’s, and she wouldn’t hangout with them by herself without the latter, so there was no question of calling anybody else. Elena’s best shot would be to go out and inquire, but it was not safe for her to do so yet. But did she have a choice? Her
The crackling noise of the fire filled the cold air around Emma as her mind slowly drifted back into reality. As she straightened her head, an acute pain shot up her neck, making her wince. However, as she took notice of her surroundings she realized that it was the last thing she should be worrying about.Emma panicked as she found her arms not by her side but wrapped around a tree trunk behind her, with a thick rope running all over her body and tied around the wrist. She tried to fight through its confines but to her dismay, she had little luck in escaping. Before she could try again, she felt footsteps approaching her from her right. Stilling in her position, she whipped her head to find a couple of men walking toward her.“Took you long enough.” One of them said as he came to stand before her.
Within minutes, the ties around her hands were loosened and her body was finally set free. Air rushed into her lungs like never before and she fell to the ground in exhaustion. She watched as the bruises around her wrists vanished under the dim light, taking away the physical pain caused by it.She instinctively looked at the two men that put her in this position, and somehow, watching them lay lifeless on the ground didn’t make her feel any better. If anything, she felt sick knowing she was the reason they were dead. She felt Jamie’s hands on her shoulder then, demanding her attention. As she looked up, she found his eyes running over her face in angst and she thought she detected new found concern in them.“Jesus, look at you.” He said,
Elena’s eyes were still sealed with sleep when she opened the front door. She couldn’t remember when she managed to fall asleep on the couch while awaiting for any news about her friend, but surely seeing her in person sprung her back into reality. Widening her eyes in surprise, she had to blink a couple of times in order to confirm what she was seeing was indeed true. Emma was looking at her with a relieved smile, with Jamie standing behind her. “Emma!” She cried before pulling her friend in for a hug. Elena felt her friend’s arms around her in response, clinging onto her like she would be taken away from her yet again. Her eyes inevitably found Jamie’s, and a silent note of gratitude relayed between the both. As promised, he brought her friend home in one piece, reinstating her belief that she was right in trusting him. “Thank God you’re alright!” She said as they pulled away from each other. “Are you okay?” “I am.” Emma nodded vehemently, “He saved me right in time.” “Did
