Deal with the devil

Hunter’s pov

“Brief me about the fight that happened yesterday, I need to know those boys that destroyed my game store, '' Xavier demanded as I walked into his apartment. I hesitated for a while since I knew the consequences of actually telling him the truth.

Our gang had started the fight with the other gang and one thing led to the other, the boys decided to come back with a tractor rather than a gun or their fist.

“I was not actually there when the fight started but I'll get enough information from Stanley and get back to you boss”

Xavier smirked at me and nodded. He picked up a glass of water and turned to face me.

“Don't you dare move from that spot,” Before I could nod, he launched the glass at my face. My head felt light from the impact and the dizziness overshadowed me. Still, I struggled to stay awake and alert.

“Why are you so useless, Hunter? You didn’t get me my stuff and still, I had to make up for the losses that you and your stupid boys caused”

He yelled at me and followed it with curses.

I could feel blood trickling down my face but I dare not touch it.

“I'm sorry boss, it wouldn't happen again,”

“It wouldn't! Because if it does, I'll make sure you never see the light of the day anymore. Do you understand me?” He growled.

I quickly went on my knees and pleaded. Not for my life but for Zion’s life.

“Also, make sure you get my stuff before tomorrow night. You know the consequences of not doing that, right?” I nodded

“Good, get out of my sight”

I stood up immediately and went out of his apartment. The first thing I did after was to get a fresh cloth to clean the blood. It’ll heal within minutes, that I'm so sure of.

I‘ve been working for Xavier since I was twelve. Too young to get involved in such businesses and yet, too young to be noticed or suspected. It wasn't a difficult thing to do since everyone saw me as a boy that was grieving. They thought that moment would pass but what they’re not aware of is that it never does.

The next thing I did was get Stanley to line up the two boys that started the fight at the gang’s hideout. I mounted my bike and took off. The hideout is at the outskirts of our town, a place no one has ever noticed. It has an abandoned building that was large enough to hide us and our atrocities.

As I entered, I noticed everyone was around and the two boys were tied up.

“Did you guys know what you cost me today?” I asked, bending down to their level.

“We’re sorry. We didn't mean to start the fight”

“Do I look like I give a shit about an apology?” I replied. I stood up from the floor and picked up the first stick I saw lying on the table.

“You guys can start,” I instructed the rest of the gang.

What followed was screams of pain and agony as the other gang members began beating up the tied-up members. I turned sharply when the noises reduced.

“Why did you stop? I still can't see any blood. You know that's my favorite punishment part” I yelled.

The beating continued until I could see both boys bleeding from practically every part of their bodies. I instructed others to stop and try to get them home as soon as possible to their parents. I don't tolerate bullshit and I never will.

“What happened with Xavier?” Stanley asked as the rest of the boys left the room.

“This happened,” I said, referring to my head even though I knew it was perfectly healed already.

“Damn! He was pretty mad at us”

“Don't even bother including yourself in the equation. I get to be the one to be at the receiving end of his anger every time” I added.

Stanly brought out a box of cigars, removed one, lit it, and gave it to me. I took a drag before passing it to him.

“That's because you’re his favorite man, Hunt,” He complimented and I laughed sadly.

“Let's say I'm his best dealer. When you deal with the devil, you will understand that it has a lot of consequences”

“What do you mean?”

“Nothing serious, old Stanley” he laughed at his nickname and we continued smoking in silence.

I might be one of the youngest gang members but Xavier had made me their leader because I knew his top secret and he was also a custodian of mine.

“Did you know that Maj sent a boy to frighten that new school girl?” Stanley asked.

“What new school girl?”

“Babe or whatever her name is” He replied.

My eyes went wide in confusion.

“What did you say she did again?” I asked, processing his words properly.

“I don't know what happened between her and the girl but I feel Maj hates her gut. She has not killed her yet because of the rules. She sent one of the boys to trail her and frighten her till she loses her mind. She just wants to run the poor girl crazy. You know shit…..”

I didn't wait for him to finish his words before I ran out of the hideout. I could hear him calling my name but I didn't stop. I took my bike and rode off to Babe’s house.

A different part of me wanted me to go back and let Maj do what she wanted but another part knew it wasn't right. Babe doesn't deserve any of that.

“STOP! STOP PLEASE” I stopped my bike behind a building as soon as I heard her pleas. The wolf was already dragging her. I stayed behind at the edge of the building and waited for the wolf to recognize my dominant aura. It didn't take long before it did. It stopped and bowed.

I might not be the Alpha yet but I was the Alpha’s son. My command is power. I growled at the wolf and as Babe took off, the wolf also did. I didn't need to follow it, it will make its way back to me.

Grabbing my bike angrily, I made my way to Babe’s house without thinking twice.
