Hunter's POV
The door leading to our hideout was firmly locked up with a large padlock that I'd never seen in my entire life. The police had raided the area earlier this morning and after it had been discovered to be a hideout, all materials were confiscated and it was locked up.
"Arnold did this, right?" I asked Stanley and he cursed under his breath. I had received a call from him during school hours that he had seen police patrolling the area and he had to hide to avoid getting himself arrested.
"He did. No wonder Maj hates his daughter's gut"
I hit his shoulder.
"Don't bring Barbara into this, Stanley. This isn't her fault. The girl was attacked by a vampire yesterday as well" I chastised him.
Babe's POVI almost died from fear as Hunter drove to Liam's place at high speed. I kept on screaming and yelling at him to drive slower but the dummy didn't listen, he kept on speeding as if he had an extra life under his fucking bed.By the time the car stopped, I opened the door to let in the fresh air and slumped so close to the floor.Dizziness had overshadowed me and I could barely see anything straight. Everything was double and moving at a fast pace. I don't think I'll recover from that in a long time.Suddenly, I felt a hand in my hair. Hunter lifted my head while smiling."I swear…. I'll…. Kill you," I whispered.
Babe's POVThe evening sun had cast its long shadows on the ground by the time I stepped out of the hospital. The slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange tinge to the sky.I could see Hunter still waiting in his car. He had his earphones on and his head rested against the seat as his eyes were closed. As soon as I got close to the car, I knocked on the window and Hunter slowly opened his eyes and went on to open the door from inside the car."Hey, how was it?" He asked once I sat down."She's awake now and she looks better" I informed him, grinning."That's great. Shall we go home now?" He ignited the engine, ready to drive off.
Hunter"LIAM," I yelled, trying to get Liam to come out of his hiding place and return to his birthday party. I might not be best of friends with him but I'd promised Hera I'll make sure I get her brother to the party before it was too late.Liam is a year older than Hera but Hera is just as smart as Liam. She skipped a year and ended up in the same class like us and that was what prompted our closeness."LIAM," For the umpteenth time I got no response, but I could smell his scent on the leaves in the forest. I've been searching for him for close to three to four hours. He was somewhere close and he didn't want to appear before me."Show yourself to me, now. It's a command, Prince, not
Babe*Babe, wake up*I slightly opened my eyes at the sudden mention of my name. My head pounded as I tried sitting up and I was forced to lie down again."Babe, come on, it's Hunter's birthday,"Katie nagged and I was forced to open my eyes sharply.I'd totally forgotten his birthday was today, a Saturday, and exactly a day after Liam's birthday. I promise that I didn't drink a sip of alcohol last night but I was up all night and we only had the chance to sleep around five am when we got back to Hunter's place. We slept off almost as soon as we got here."Stop screaming, Katie. I swear I can hear
Babe's POV"...... Will you let me?" Hunter asked, staring at me with so much passion in his eyes."Friends don't look at friends that way," I joked referring to his intense look."Sometimes, they do," He whispered. I smiled."I have a male best friend and I don't think I need one more right now, you guys tend to be super overprotective,""Tell me about this male best friend of yours," he demanded."His name is Fred and we've been friends since I was twelve""Does he like you?""Yeah,"He raise
Babe's POV"This mate thing is more complicated than what you think" my aunt explained."No! I don't care about the mate thing. I care about the responsibility that my father had towards my mother and me which he neglected because he found his mate," I replied with a raised voice.I swear I didn't mean to scream, but it was necessary."Your mother was okay with it, Babara"Tears bolted out of my eyes. "No! She wasn't okay with it. Y'all thought she was fine with it but she wasn't. Do you know how I know? That's because I was the one at the receiving end of her brokenness. She drank herself to death's door every night after we left here. For months, my mother didn't know how I survived. You also want to know why sh
Hunter's POVJust like Barbara had said, the darkest hour began on Monday morning and it took a while before the darkness disappeared from the sky above Paradise Creek'.Barbara and I went to school together that morning after I'd picked her up from school. Her cousin, Pinky was also resuming school as she was fully recovering. We met Liam and Hera at their locker talking about some random stupid stuff and Babe joined in.My phone beeped and I brought it out from my pocket to see it was a message from Stanley."The boys are dead," It was simple yet informative and deadly. The last time I visited both boys at the hospital, one was recovering already and a glint of hope had lightened in f
Babe's POV"I'm getting scared right now," Ivy confessed mid lunch. I was sitting with Pinky, Tommy, and Hera at the cafeteria on a seat close to the door and far from everyone.Hunter and I had gone to the admission office to change the schedule and make each of our classes the same. I wasn't surprised when the woman didn't question our decision or refuse to fix it to what we wanted but what I was surprised about was how Liam walked in with the same request. At the end of the day, the seven of us, Hunter, Hera, Liam, Ivy, Pinky, Tommy, and I all had the same schedule irrespective of what we wanted to study in college. When I asked Ivy if her mom would be comfortable with the arrangement, she told me her mom doesn't have a choice if her survival was o
