Rosa’s POV

A Dangerous Escape

I thought leaving Brenton would keep me safe.

I was wrong.

The night I jumped off that bus and ran into the woods, I realized something important this was not about hiding anymore. This was survival.

I found an old shed deep in the forest, barely standing. But it had a roof and a broken chair inside, and for now, that was enough. I stayed quiet, listening for footsteps. My heart was loud in my ears.

My phone had no signal. I turned it off to save battery.

I needed a plan.

Just farmers, bakers, and fishermen. No one would ask questions. I bought bread with the last cash I had and sat by the riverbank.

As I ate, I heard a voice.

“You look lost,” said a man.

I looked up. He was about forty, with rough hands and a soft face.

“I’m just passing through,” I replied.

He smiled. “Name’s Harold. You can work at my farm if you need shelter.”

I hesitated.

He noticed. “I don’t ask questions. You help, I feed you. That’s all.”

I nodded. “Alright.”

Harold gave me a r

Rosa’s POV – The Night of NightmaresThe bus dropped me off just outside Brenton. I stood alone by the road, my small bag hanging on my shoulder. The wind blew cold against my skin, even though it wasn’t winter. It was fear.I had returned. Not as the villain. Not as the hero.Just Rosa. A woman trying to face her past.I didn’t go to Dickson’s house that night. I booked a room at a small lodge far from town. I needed one more night alone. One night to breathe before facing everyone again. But I didn’t sleep. Not really. That night, my nightmares returned. And they came hard. The room was dark, but the nightmare was darker.I was back in the old facility. The one where I betrayed them. Where I hurt the children.Chains hung from the walls.Screams echoed in the air.I saw myself, standing tall, wearing black gloves.“Do it,” a voice said.“No,” I cried. But nightmare-Rosa did it.She pushed the button.Electric shocks. Screams.Children crying.“No!” I shouted. “That’s not me anymore!

Rosa’s POV – PromisesI stood at the train station in Bridgewater again. My hands trembled, not from fear, but from uncertainty."Lycan saw me," I whispered to myself. Why didn’t he chase me?Why did he just stare? Was he afraid?Or... was he angry?I spent that day helping out again at the shelter. But I couldn't focus. The little girl's voice echoed in my head."My mom is in the sky."So many children were left alone, just like Dickson and Daisy's children. And it was partly my fault. I left scars. I can't fix them all, but I can try. That evening, I sat at the old town library and opened a book called *Second Chances*. The title felt like a message.A soft voice interrupted me."You're Rosa, aren't you?"I looked up and saw a young boy, maybe thirteen."Excuse me?" I asked."I saw your picture on a paper. Someone's looking for you. They said you're dangerous. But you don’t look dangerous."I stayed silent."Are you hiding?" he asked."No. I'm... resting."He sat beside me. "I ran o

Rosa’s POV Shadows Still FollowTwo weeks had passed since I left Dallas. I thought changing cities would erase the past, but memories stick like stains. I kept moving no real destination, just away from everything.I now lived in a small town called Brenton. No one knew me here. That was the point.I rented a room above an old bookstore. The owner, a woman named Maggie, barely asked questions. She only nodded when I said I needed a quiet place.I kept my head down. No makeup. No high heels. No sharp suits. I wore jeans, oversized hoodies, and walked with my hands in my pockets. But deep inside, the war hadn’t ended. It just got quieter. One afternoon, I was helping Maggie sort through old boxes in the basement when she looked at me and said, “You don’t look like someone running from bills.”I froze. “What?”“You’re not here because you can’t pay rent somewhere else,” she said. “You’re here because you’re hiding.”I didn’t answer. She chuckled softly. “Relax. I don’t care what you di

Rosa’s POV –I sat by the window of a small motel room in downtown Dallas, staring at the clouds rolling over the sky. The storm wasn’t just outside it was inside me too. My thoughts felt loud. Too loud.I once believed I was smart. Clever. Powerful. But now?I had nothing. No Lycan. No wolf spirit. No power. No plan.Only silence.Only regret.I used to say that people who did evil would never escape the consequences. That there was no peace for the wicked. And yet I chose that path myself, eyes wide open.It started with Dickson. I hated how strong he was. How people trusted him. He had something I wanted. Respect. Love. A future. Then Daisy came along. That sweet-faced little thing. Always smiling, always helping others. I thought she was weak. But she turned out stronger than I ever imagined. And then their children… Oh, those children. They were never part of the plan at first. But when I saw how Dickson would do anything to protect them, I knew their pain would be his pain. I us

Daisy's POVThe morning light came slowly. Cold air touched my face, and I opened my eyes. Dickson was still beside me, his arm around me. For a moment, I forgot the danger. For a moment, I was safe. But the moment didn’t last.Zuri was already awake, sitting on a log and looking into the woods. Her hair was a mess, her eyes far away. I got up, walked to her, and placed a hand on her shoulder."Did you sleep okay?"She shrugged. "I had dreams again. Bad ones."I knelt beside her. "About Tobi?"She nodded. "And about the place they took him. I think I saw it."My heart skipped. "What did it look like?""It was dark. Underground. I heard his voice, but I couldn’t find him. Then I saw Rosa. She was smiling. But not like before. Her face looked fake. Like she was wearing someone else’s skin."I looked over at Dickson. He was awake now, watching us."We have to move," I said.Marcus arrived ten minutes later. He had a new map and some food. He handed it to us without a word. We ate fast."
