Danielle’s POV

The note in front of me sits on the tray beside the untouched porridge, the neat black ink still catching my eyes as I remain still staring into the sheets.

Eat something. You need your strength.

Strength. The word for some reason feels like mockery in my head and all I can do is just sit there at the edge of the bed, staring at the written note that somehow feels louder than his voice.

He’s everywhere, even when he’s not. In the guards posted at my door. In the silence that hums through this part of the mansion. In the way Aaliyah, the maid he assigned to me, knocks softly before entering, as if the air itself answers to him.

“You haven’t eaten,” she says, stepping in with her gentle, springlike voice.

“I wasn’t hungry,” I murmur.

Her brows knit. “You’ll need it for your session today Luna.”

I glance up. “Session?”

“With Elder Mira,” she says. “The Alpha ordered that your Luna training begins immediately.”
