GENESIS

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I stared at Kieran, then he wiped my lips but I turned my face away from his touch. Wasn’t he the same man who had let his friend take me away, saying he didn’t care?

“Baby, don’t turn your face away from me. Did I do something wrong?” he murmured, his hand gently touching my face. I shivered at the touch but all I wanted was to crawl away—I couldn’t bear to look at him.

I thought he was different... b-but he wasn’t. It was all my fault. Just because I hadn’t been hurt since I married him didn’t mean he wouldn’t eventually do something.

Suddenly, I felt my jaw being gently turned toward him. “You’re upset with me?” His voice sounded as if he had just realized it.

I tried to turn my head away again, my nose twitching, sure it was red from crying. I just wanted to hide in a corner and let the tears fall. What had I ever done to be so hated by everyone?

No one loves me.

Then his hand and warmth disappeared from my face. Of course, he would leave. Soo

The dining table was unusually quiet. Well—almost quiet. One person seemed to be in an annoyingly good mood.“Ahhh, oh my God, that is so funny! I don't know why people hate Love Island—it's all about drama, lies, and fake people pretending to be in love.”She laughed again, completely unaware of the irony.Across the table, Daisy clenched her fork so tightly it looked like she might throw it at Amelia just to escape the noise.Eliana noticed and quickly stepped in. “Come on, honey. The school bus is here.”She helped Daisy down from her seat, but the girl didn’t stop glaring at Amelia. Amelia caught it, squinting suspiciously at her, then glanced under her chair and around the table like she expected something—or someone—to lunge at her.Once Daisy was out of the room, Amelia turned back to say something to Kieran, but he stood up without a word and walked out of the dining room.Genesis, who hadn’t touched her food, watched her husband leave. Her hand tightened around the edge of th

Rev looked away from her mother. She was quiet for a moment, just smoking—her eyes distant, lost in the question her mother had just asked.Red watched her, one perfectly manicured brow arched, and waited. When two minutes passed and Rev still hadn’t spoken, Red snapped.“Ay, Dios mío, speak already, niña. You want me to drop dead guessing?”Rev’s eyes flicked to her, then back down. She didn’t speak.Didn’t blink.Just smoked.Red’s eyes narrowed. Her voice dropped low and firm.“I said—how is your sister?”Finally, Rev exhaled. Smoke curled from her lips like a slow confession.“She’s been living in that house since she was eight,” she said, her voice razor-sharp. “With those people. She thinks she’s alone, Mama. She doesn’t know about me. About you.”Red’s fingers curled around the edge of the desk, knuckles turning white. She knew all that already.Rev looked straight at her, voice bitter. “And all that time, I couldn’t say a word. Couldn’t show her I was there. Do you know what t

“...So you’re going to see your family?” Joy asked, staring at Revelation—who was now dressed in casual wear, a different bag slung over her shoulder.Revelation shook her head.“I don’t have any family,” she said flatly.Silence fell over the kitchen.“Oh.”“Joy, you just had to open your big mouth,” Mia muttered, nudging her.Joy immediately put on an apologetic smile.“I’m sorry, I—”“It’s fine. I don’t mind. Anyway, I’ll be going now.” Revelation cut her off, brushing it aside. The girls nodded. Cady looked up from the apple she was slicing for Amelia.“So your break is just for a week, right?”Revelation nodded.“Yes, but I’ll only be gone for two days. I’ll be back after that.”“Why?” Katherine looked up from her phone.“You’ve got a whole week off and you're only using two days? If I were you, I wouldn’t come back until the seventh day was over.”Revelation just smiled but didn’t say anything.Cady rounded the corner with the sliced apple.“Anyway, be safe. And don’t forget to

Master Ballet StudioJaden ran a hand through his hair as he stared down at Genesis.“Um… hi,” he said awkwardly, gritting his teeth. He hated how unsure he sounded — and worse, how nervous he felt.Genesis, who had been staring at the floor, slowly lifted her head. Whatever words he had prepared died in his throat the moment their eyes met. He dropped down in front of her.“What the hell…” he whispered, kneeling as he reached for her cheek. But she flinched, and he instantly pulled his hand back. His eyes scanned the redness around hers, and it didn’t take a genius to realize she’d been crying.“Who hurt you, Genesis?” he asked, his voice low but urgent. Sitting there with her knees pulled to her chest, she looked so small, so fragile, sickly pale, tears mark on her cheeks.A heavy wave of anger slammed into him.“Who hurt you?” he asked again, but she didn’t speak. Without thinking, his hand moved, brushing his thumb gently under her eye. That’s when she suddenly leaned into him.He

“...Something about that girl just doesn’t sit right with me,” Mia murmured, shifting her legs.Joy, who had been admiring some flowers, turned to face the others sitting together on the garden floor.“Really? You’re just noticing? Aside from being a massive bitch, I don’t believe that pregnancy story one bit,” Joy said, shaking her head.Cady nodded. “Exactly! Can you believe she was drinking wine and still claiming to be pregnant? I’m not buying it.”“Yesss,” the rest of the girls chimed in with nods.“Yeah, I thought I was the only one who noticed that,” Mia added. “She asked me to get her wine. And aside from wanting to smash that bottle against her head, I was shocked. Like, how do you call yourself pregnant and then down almost half a bottle?”They all nodded again.Cady bit her lip. “I think I need to talk to Knight.”Mia sighed. “Knight’s not available right now.”Cady frowned. “What do you mean? He didn’t leave the house, did he?”Joy turned around. “What Mia’s trying to say

“…I don’t think we can trust that guy,” Jimmy was saying, but Mark rolled his eyes and cut him off before he could finish.“Really? Can you hear yourself? Who cares if you trust the guy or not? What matters is that he’s helping us get back at Knight and his family,” Mark snapped, visibly irritated.Their mother, Monica, turned to him sharply.“Would you shut up and let your brother finish? I get where he’s coming from,” she scolded.“Of course you do,” Mark muttered under his breath, but she heard him and shot him a glare, ready to say something—until Jimmy interrupted, wincing as he leaned his bruised body against the headboard. Monica rushed forward to prop a pillow behind him, which only fueled the irritation burning inside Mark.Jimmy sighed. “What I’m trying to say is—since this Takeshi guy showed up, what has he really done to take Knight down?”Mark growled. “Are you deaf, or did they beat the hearing out of you too? We told you—he set one of Knight’s warehouses on fire. And we
