Chapter 3

Penulis: Much Better
However, it did not matter if she found out the truth because it would not change the ending.

The mention of Irina evoked sweet memories of the times we were together. I was arrogant and domineering then, and I would constantly warn her about never forgiving her if she ever betrayed me by falling in love with another man. I promised that I would turn into a ghost to haunt her if she ever did that.

Irina would always nuzzle into my arms shyly and look up at me to kiss me on the lips. "I would never betray you, Myles Grant. The man I'll marry is you, and only you. If I marry someone else, you can take my life while you're alive, but if you're gone from this world, you can drag me down to the netherworld with you and I won't ever hold it against you."

Now, she was marrying another man, and I never disrupted her life even though I had been a ghost for a year. Even with the perfect opportunity now, I could not bear to disturb her peaceful life. What a strange thing life was.

The live chat was silent for only a few seconds before netizens started hurling abuse at me. However, other voices started to appear as well. Some people actually began to sympathize with me.

[Could he be telling the truth? It would be so sad if this were really the truth.]

[Get a grip of yourself! Stop sitting on the fence and believing everything someone tells you. I don't believe him at all. Didn't you just hear him say that it was true that he took money from the Grants? The Grants had always given him ample allowance, but he still had the gall to ask for more during Old Mrs. Grant's birthday party. How shameless is that?!]

[It's true! And he even tortures stray cats and dogs! Do you think that's fake news?]

[That man is vile by nature. Don't be tricked by him!]

All I did was glance at those words in the live chat as they did not really get to me. The netherworld sent me a text to hurry me into getting someone to bury my body, but I pretended not to read it.

I quickly took a few bites of my burger. It had been a long time since I was human, and my stomach hurt from the food. Everything I consumed felt like stones that were grinding inside me.

My phone suddenly lit up with a notification from the hospital, informing me of a refund. There was remaining balance from the medical bill I paid for my father, and I was refunded $30,000. It was a huge amount of money and, after some thought, I decided to visit the hospital room that my father once stayed in.

A new patient had been admitted into the room. It was a seven-year-old boy.

The nurses were standing outside the room, chatting in a whisper, "The poor boy has cancer, but his family can't afford the treatment, so his parents abandoned him. The hospital has tried its best to get in touch with them, but they're nowhere to be found. The poor little thing is in serious condition, and the procedure to get him into an orphanage is slow. All he can do now is wait for death."

"It's last-stage cancer. Each round of treatment costs tens of thousands, and normal families can't afford that financial burden. I feel like crying every time I see that poor boy in pain."

The little boy was bald and looked extremely thin. He sat next to the window, staring blankly into the air. He would stand on tiptoe occasionally to look at the sea of people outside the window.

I walked over to him and pressed some candy I had bought at a stall on the road into his hands. The little boy looked at me with slight surprise. "Is this candy for me?"

"Yes, it is." I asked, "What are you doing by the window?"

"My parents told me last month that they would take me home on Saturday. I'm waiting for them here." He held my hand with his cold little hand and said with a slight tremble in his voice, "Are my parents too busy to come for me? Can you stay by my side if they can't make it?"

As I stared into his teary eyes, I found it difficult to tell him the cruel truth.

There was no outpouring of emotions from me.The netherworld's High Judge stood next to me and ordered me to be reincarnated. "I didn't expect the world to really have a good person who helped you take care of your body before she died. You can finally be reincarnated."Take your Divine Merits with you and go into reincarnation."I quickly asked, "What's the point of Divine Merits?""It's powerful enough to save a person's life. You can use it to revive a life, or use it to make sure the dead will be reincarnated into a good life."Before the High Judge finished speaking, I asked, "What day is it today?""Saturday.""I have one more thing to do before I get reincarnated."With that, I took the fixed music box with me and went to the hospital I had become familiar with. The little boy's surgery had been arranged for today, and the doctors told him that this was a good day as it was the Saturday he had looked forward to.When the surgery lights lit up, there was no one waiting f

"Myles and his father are innocent. You've found your real son, Mr. Grant. Let Myles off."My adoptive father stood blankly after being shot with the truth. He was at a loss and left in a daze while mumbling all the way, "You're just working together to trick me. Myles is just throwing a tantrum. He's trying to scare me by faking his death. He wouldn't give me up as a father no matter how upset he is."It was only after he sent someone out to investigate the matter and got the results in his hands that he finally woke up from his denial. He read the investigation results while crying silently as he found out that he had made a mistake. My adoptive father had always loved me more because he had brought me up himself, even though I was not his biological son, but he felt a deep sense of guilt toward Edwin. To avoid reality and run away from his guilt, he blamed my father and me for everything that had happened. He felt that my father and I were malicious people who would do anything

That was when a small pair of hands held her frail hand, and a piece of candy was placed in her palm. "Don't be sad. A nice man gave this candy to me, and I'm giving it to you now. You won't feel sad after having it."Old Mrs. Grant recognized the little boy in front of her. It was the boy from the livestream.Tears started streaming down her face as she unwrapped the candy and popped it into her mouth. The taste of butterscotch slowly spread and she started to calm down.Old Mrs. Grant called an assistant to instruct him to take care of the public opinion online and to follow up on Edwin's situation after he got arrested.Edwin was arrested on the spot. He had thought he would get away with it as there were no witnesses, but unfortunately for him, the police informed him that everything he did had been witnessed on the livestream, including his attempt at murdering me.He went crazy as he started to spout nonsense. "All right! I'll tell you everything! I did kill him, but I kille

Unfortunately, I did not explain anything to her. All I did was stare quietly at her. "It's just as you saw, Irina. I cheated on you. You're free to leave me now."After we broke up, Irina tried to fix our relationship, but I suddenly vanished, and she could not find me no matter how hard she tried. During that short time, Irina had a bad feeling about everything that had happened.Irina would have nightmares in the middle of the night where I was covered in blood and lying in a mountain of corpses, torn apart by wild beasts, leaving no trace of my body behind. She would wake up feeling suffocated by the intense fear that enveloped her. This continued until Edwin showed her forged documents and news of me leaving the country. That was when she finally believed that I had given up on her and our relationship, and had left to live a new life of my own.Even at the moment before she was about to get married, Irina was still hoping that if I found out that she had fallen in love with a

He grabbed my phone and hurled it to the ground. I watched Edwin's enraged face as he yelled at me while stomping on it like a madman. "Stop it! Stop your livestreaming! Do you know that Irina canceled the wedding because of your livestream? "Everyone is looking for you, but I got to you faster than all of them. I killed you once, and I can do it again!"His words got the live chat going once more. [What's happening? Has Edwin Grant always been so malicious? What did he mean by killing Myles Grant once? Has he killed Myles Grant before?][This is getting ridiculous! He can't be thinking that the livestream stopped, can he? Someone call the police! Someone is going to get hurt!"Edwin approached me maliciously. I took a step backward whenever he stepped forward. This continued until I was forced to the side of the cliff."So what if I framed you for everything? You should have died quietly then. Now that you've resurfaced, I just need to kill you again!"Edwin came close to me

However, the little boy's eyes looked brightly at me. "I know the music box isn't working, but I hope you'll accept it. It's the only gift I can give you. My mom gave it to me. She told me that I'll get well as long as I have it."I did not reject the music box. "This is the most precious gift I've ever received. I'll treasure it well."When I got home, I spent the entire night researching the music box extensively and bought parts from various toy stores to finally fix it. I wound it up gently, then the piano score for Fur Elise started playing. I was dead and I could not bring anything with me in death, but I still wanted to fix up the music box. I wanted the little boy to fight his sickness and get well. For my last 12 hours in the mortal world, I came to the foot of the mountain at Agricultural University. Many of the things I cherished were found here.[I thought he turned over a new leaf and was prepared to be a good person. I didn't expect him to come to the foot of the m
