Chapter 6

Mason left his sentence at that, but Claire could understand the threatening message hidden behind his words. She felt a little angry. She had quit her job because of him and had to follow his back all day.

The initial agreement was that they would have nothing to do with each other, yet now they were forcibly tied together. Claire was not happy about this as well.

However, she did not say anything aloud. She was in too much of an awkward position at the moment.

They continued walking in silence until they reached the main gates, where Mason was lifted into a wheelchair accommodating car. Claire instinctively bent down to enter the car, but Simon reached out and stopped her.

“Miss Schmidt, this is Young Master Yeich’s private car.”

Claire paused. “What do you mean?”

Mason turned his head over to look at her, mockery evident in his calm, deep eyes. “You’re still not qualified enough to be my assistant.”

Hearing this, Claire’s expression faltered. “What do you mean? Then why did you say yes to Grandfather just now?”

No longer paying attention to her, Mason shifted his gaze away as Simon, without an expression on his face, getting ready to close the car door. Claire reached out to block him and asked Mason, “Well, what will I do when you leave? Grandfather…”

A light glinted in Mason’s eyes when Old Grand Master Yeich was mentioned. He narrowed his eyes and stared at her dangerously.

“Simon, tell her the route. She can walk there.”

Claire, “...”

How could there be someone so evil?

Simon gave her the directions woodenly and without showing any other emotion, closed the car doors.

“Miss Schmidt, good luck.”

The car drove off after that sentence was delivered.

The wind blew haphazardly across Claire as she stood at the main entrance. The doorman, who had witnessed the scene, was now looking at her in pity.

Claire’s heart hardened as she faced the pitying glances directed at her.

Her hands tightened into fists.

Fine, she would go on her own.

In the car.

“Young Master Yeich, do you think we were too harsh on her?”

Mason frowned, the aura around him chilling. “Why don’t you go accompany her?”

Simon’s expression faltered. “Pretend I never said anything.”

Mason grunted as he used the rearview mirror to glance with a cold gaze over the petite figure standing at the gates. He withdrew his gaze, and his thin lips fluttered as he thought of something a moment later.

“Any news on the woman I asked you to locate?”

At the mention of the matter, Simon raised his fist to cover his lips as he coughed lightly. “Young Master Yeich, there were no cameras on that road, and it was raining heavily that night, the dark made it impossible to see the passers-by. However, give me some time, I believe I can make a clear identification.”

Simon felt defeated. He could usually do an excellent job in executing any orders Young Master Yeich gave.

However, it was this one issue that he could not get to the bottom of.

Sure enough, the chilliness around Mason intensified slightly. Eyebrows sharp, he said, “One month. If intentions were clear, the woman would be pregnant by then.”

Simon started. An unnamed, unidentified woman, pregnant with Young Master Yeich’s child? This was no issue to joke about. Simon’s expression immediately became serious.

“I understand. I will arrange for someone to keep an eye on the happenings at the hospital.”

Mason’s eyes showed that he was deep in thought.

He had never touched a woman before. The woman from that night was the first!

So, she must be found!

It took Claire a half hour before she arrived at Yeich Group.

Unfortunately, upon arrival at Yeich Group, Claire was stopped outside, the reason being that she had not made an appointment, so she could not enter the premises.

In North City, Yeich Group’s existence was equivalent to holding up the sky for North City.

The dominance of Yeich Group resulted in boosting the economy of North City. Fifteen years ago, North City was still a small, unknown city, but now it was heading towards the top.

When a group was as large as it is, it was not as easy to enter and leave as you pleased.

“Excuse me, could you please just speak to Mason? I actually am his new assistant.”

The receptionist looked at her in contempt.

“What is this nonsense? President Yeich has never required an assistant, the entire office knows this. Do your research before attempting to seduce a man.”
