Chapter 16 - The rules ...
Life in the castle was very strange. A servant wakes you up in the mornings with tea and biscuits before helping you to get dressed. That took some getting used to since I kept wanting to dress myself. My dress that didn’t fit correctly before arrived and I put it on as soon as I was allowed to get out of bed. I was feeling much better after spending three days in bed and I was ready to get out of my room.
Although it was really pretty, it got really boring when one spent all day staring at the walls. Trixie and the girl called Lesley took turns reading to me, but I would have loved to be able to read for myself. Lesley showed me to the queen’s morning room where the queen was already seated with Ella sitting across from her. I could smell the food in the passage and my stomach growled softly.
The queen pointed me to a chair and when I frowned, she asked me if there was something wrong with my food.

I have to admit that it fascinated me how these people could do this almost every night. Dress up like this and stand around drinking awful champagne! It literally took all morning to go through all the horrors of what Ariana experienced with the slave traders. I had to agree with her that it sounded as if her pack sold the omegas into slavery. They were orphans mostly and not linked to any family which made them the perfect assets, so to speak.
