Chapter 23

— Brother? — I repeated incredulously.

He came over and sat down on the floor beside the bathtub. His blue eyes stared at me looking amused, as if they had made quite a discovery.

As I watched Dimitri, I couldn't help but look for some similarities between the two men. Dimitri was tall, but not as tall as the commander, his hair was an almost white blond, his skin was pale, his eyes were very blue, and his eyelashes were very light. He almost looked like an albino and in no way resembled John, I noticed.

Dimitri held out a hand for water and I backed away. I was completely defenseless against him and didn't want to be controlled by him again. I wondered if if I screamed, would anyone hear me in time?

Dimitri merely smiled at the distance I put between us.

— Can we talk later? — I tried to persuade him to leave, my heart beating faster.
